Lushgreen, I saw Dr. Suzi Lee at Columbia and she was great. Actually, she called me today to check on me. Not too many Drs. do that.

Hi, I'll be going to Sedona, Arizona on July 14th. Wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants there that will accommodate gluten-free? Thanks!

Yup, mine was 194. -
I ordered Cantonese Chow Fun off the menu which said "replace with rice stick noodles and gluten free sauce. When the food came, the noodles were wide and I told the waitress they didn't look like stick noodles. She spoke to the chef who said, this was the way he always prepared this dish. I was afraid to eat it so she took it back and the chef prepared it...

I believe I am going through the same "anxiety" issues. For several months now I have stomach pain/nausea (which I did not have before being diagnosed with celiac disease). I've taken several acid meds to no avail. I've had many tests and there doesn't seem to be any reason for my stomach problems. At first, my Dr. hinted at taking anxiety meds, but I pooh...

My GI Dr. prescribed this to me today, but I haven't been able to find it on any gluten-free lists. Does anyone know if this is gluten-free and has anyone taken it? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Bacterial Enzyme Renders Gluten Harmless
bklyn replied to Emme999's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would be thrilled to have a "pill" to take, especially when eating out. I find the hardest part of being gluten free is the constant "worrying" about what to eat. I miss the days of just "grabbing a bite." Eating out was a huge part of my family's social life and now I just can't do it any more without a lot of planning. -
ARCHIVED I'll Admit It. I'm Afraid To Eat Out.

I ask to speak to the manager whenever I eat out now. Too many times I've had waiters or waitresses not do the right thing. I tell the manager I have a food allergy and I give him my card to give to the cook. I feel much safer that way. -

Andrew, I was given Nexium from Dr. Lee at the Celiac Center at Columbia. She told me it is definitely gluten free. -

Just my 2 cents worth - I've been following this thread and I'm glad to see that everyone is settling down and coming together. Since I was a newbie not that long ago, I relate to the person who found it hard to believe some of the "rules" of celiac disease. This is definitely a learning process and every day I get new info I use for my new "lifestyle." I... -
Does anyone know if Uristat is gluten-free? I haven't been able to find it on any lists and it's Sunday so I can't call. My bladder is hurting - OW!

Cleveland Bob, Can relate to your problems - I was diagnosed in Aug.04(low iron) no gastro symptoms. Was gluten free for a few months and suddenly started having stomach pain/nausea. My GI dr. called it "acid" and put me on Prilosec, which made me feel worse. I woke up every morning sick to my stomach. I've cut out coffee, spicy foods, chocolate, everything... -

bklyn replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Believe it or not, right after my endoscopy (when my dr. told me I probably had Celiac) I went home and ate a Thomas' english muffin. I had never heard of Celiac and I thought he was crazy! -
ARCHIVED Really Good Pasta
bklyn posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ordered Bi-Aglut pasta (imported from Italy) from Gluten Solutions. It is the best I've tried so far. It is even the same color as the real thing! -
I like some opinions from this forum - I have to decide whether or not to have a CAT scan (with contrast) done this Monday. I've had stomach pain/nausea for almost 3 mos. I've tried many antacids (which seem to make me feel worse) and I've been to Celiac Center in N.Y. Also received antacids there. My GI doctor seems unsure what to do and wants me to have...

Does anyone eat the "prepared foods" at Whole Foods? All the ingredients are listed but I'm a little unsure as to Cross contimination.

I saw Dr. Lee at the Celiac Center in NY last week. Basically, she prescribed a similar medicine (Nexium) to the one my own GI gave me (Prilosec). These meds make me feel WORSE. Anyone else have this experience? I would like some suggestions as to natural products to help with burning/pain in stomach and nausea. Help! -

Just got home from NYC today, and I ate at Risotteria for lunch. It was great! We had Pizza, a panini sandwich and Risotto. Tasted like real food. Also ate at Josies and Rice (on Mott St.) All delicious. -
ARCHIVED Anemia

I had ten infusions shortly after I was diagnosed. I went to my Dr.'s office 3 x a week until completed. The first infusion takes a long time - it's done very slowly to check for allergic reaction. After that each infusion takes about 1 1/2 hrs. -
ARCHIVED Sick Since Going Gf
bklyn replied to bklyn's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Caligirl, Yes, I've been thinking about other food intolerances. What's strange is that I don't feel sick after I eat something, it's all the time. I'm on my way to the Celiac Center at Columbia in New York on Monday, and hopefully they can help me sort out the problem. -

I think they avoid anywhere they might have to show their "feelings" -
I contacted Columbia Celiac Center and tried to make an appointment with Dr. Green. Unfortunately, he's not open until mid-June and I don't want to wait that long. I got an appointment with Dr. Suzi Lee (one of his associates) on 4-11. I have to get all of my records from my GI. I decided to wait on the CAT scan and see Dr. Lee first. I'm hoping she can give...

celiac3270, Also a serious shortage of males at my support group - about 1 man for every 10 women. Are there fewer celiac males or are they just afraid of support groups!
