The last few times I've had a break out of this stuff that I believe to be DH, I had to get a cortisone shot to get rid of it. Does anything heal it? nothing else seems to be working and I don't have the $$ for another shot. any advice is greatly appreciated!!

ARCHIVED Weight Watchers
positivenrgfairy replied to Kathleen Smith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would love it! I'm not starting WW just yet, as I read in WW magazine that it's best to start a diet-life change when you're not going through a separate big life change. I'll be done with school in 2 months, and in 2 months, I will have been gluten-free for 6 months, so it seems like a logical time to start. but i would love a forum for it. -
ARCHIVED Weight Watchers
positivenrgfairy replied to Kathleen Smith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
did you guys do the core or the flex plan? I did the flex in college and lost a ton of weight. I gained it back, of course, plus some, and now I need to start again. I think with the gluten-free diet, it might be easier to do core this time. what is best? -
I don't think it's wise to start "dieting" immediately after going on the gluten-free diet, (too many changes at once!) and I am wondering how long I should get the gluten-free diet under my belt before adding weight watchers (or something) back in my routine. I've got about 40 pounds to lose and I've been gluten free for about 4 months.

ARCHIVED Getting Depressed When You Get Glutened
positivenrgfairy replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
all of this is true for me too. i ate a cheesy biscuit a few months ago and cried for 3 straight days. and if I eat a lot of it, or if it conincides with my monthly cycle, i have been known to get suicidal. i am usually a happy and positive person but gluten makes me feel crazy. then it just gets worse because i feel like ive been cursed with this stupid... -
ARCHIVED I'm Panicking! What Do I Do?!
positivenrgfairy replied to kdonov2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First of all, calm down. you will live to see another day. In my experience, once it's in your system, your body will do whatever it can to get rid of it. once that happens, you'll start to feel better. Depending on how much you ate, it may be a couple of days before you feel normal again. I'm really sorry you've had this experience. we've all been... -
ARCHIVED Weaning Off Of Zoloft While New To Gluten-free
positivenrgfairy replied to gettinbetterbaby's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was sick for weeks for I got off zoloft, but it will pass! If you can stand it, don't go back on any medication. I think that stuff is really bad for you. If you think I'm wrong, ask yourself why the withdrawals are making you feel this way! hope you feel better. there IS an end in sight!!! -
I have been so guilty lately, of not asking what I'm eating because I am too embarrassed. Even in Austin, a pretty cool city, when I do ask about it people stare at me like I'm an alien. im def. having a reaction right now bc I was too ashamed to ask. I don't really need advice, just wanted to talk it out. I know it's my own fault. I have been...

I'm also reading mixed reviews about vinegar, if anyone can help with that. -

ARCHIVED My Family Is Insisting I Get Tested
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree It seems silly. but I am pretty new to the whole thing. I get cross contaminated so often that now im really paranoid that it is something else, or at least an additional food allergy) I met my brother half way, and I made an appointment with a holistic healer who is also a registered nurse. After we talk, if she thinks it's necessary to get... -
starbucks claims they are gluten-free with a few exceptions. why do i get a reaction when I go there?!?! I ordered a caramel latte with skim milk, and about 2 hours later i started feeling depressed bloated and confused. i would swear it couldn't be anything else making me have this reaction. of course, i could have kissed my husband or picked up...

ARCHIVED My Family Is Insisting I Get Tested
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
thats just the thing- I've already been gluten-free for a month or so and except for the occasional XC, I feel a million times better, which is why i think its silly to go through months of painful and invasive tests when i am 99% sure that gluten is the problem. Just for the 1%, I'm going to do some more food trials. could someone explain to me what... -
ARCHIVED My Family Is Insisting I Get Tested
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get b%$@#y; I know you meant well. not that it is a good excuse to be rude, but things are hard right now, as I'm sure many people on this board, yourself included, can relate to. so again, I apologize for my tone. It would be a tradeoff. Basically, my siblings are suggesting that either I get tested for celiac disease,... -
ARCHIVED My Family Is Insisting I Get Tested
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am 27 years old, thank you very much. I didn't say they are making me; I said they are insisting. and i didn't say "my parents" I said my family. It is mostly my brother who has lost friends because they self diagnosed themselves with something but it was actually something else, like cancer. and my questions was is it worth it? thanks. -
ARCHIVED My Family Is Insisting I Get Tested
positivenrgfairy posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know gluten makes me sick and depressed. I may be intolerant and I may have celiac disease, i don't honestly know, but i know that i have to eat gluten again and feel like sh$# for the test to even work and i don't want to put my body through all that. any advice on how to get tested, find a doctor, or deal with reintroducing gluten into your diet?... -
ARCHIVED Can I Get A Description Of A 'brain Fog'?

I don't have that feeling. but it's a little bit like being hungover and having vertigo and feeling like you might have a mild panic attack for me. -
ARCHIVED Kombucha Tea
positivenrgfairy replied to blondebombshell's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm obsessed with Kombucha. I drink Buddha's brew. I didn't even know if was beneficial for celiacs, but with the probiotics that makes sense. bonus! -
ARCHIVED "i Feel Fat"
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have not been officially diagnosed, but have done enough 'food tests' both accidental and intentional to know gluten is my problem. wehtehr it is celiac or a gluten intolerance I'm not actually 100% sure. symptoms after ingesting: skin rash abnormal periods heartburn hemrrhoids diarrhea vomiting (with a large dose) bloating depression... -
ARCHIVED "i Feel Fat"
positivenrgfairy replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am 27. I remember having this feeling as early as the 8th grade, and my anorexia and bulimia was at its worst from the ages of 17-20. I have since gotten healthy with only a few episodes which have gone completely away since going gluten-free. any advice on how to deal with this terrible feeling? I'm glad someone else has dealt with this; it has... -
Hey everyone. so I have a lot of varying symptoms, but one of them that seems to flare up fastest is this bloated feeling I have, especially in my stomach. When I look in the mirror, I actually look about 10 pounds heavier and my clothes fit tighter. I had an eating disorder for a long time as a result of this feeling combined with emotional problems...

ARCHIVED Glutened By Caramel Colour In Coke?
positivenrgfairy replied to kristionii's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I live in Texas and Mexican coke is everywhere. I don't drink sodas, but my friends say the mexican cokes taste way better so there is something different about the formula for sure. -
I don't understand. you mean you haven't eaten ANYTHING in 2 years? what are you doing to sustain your life? I'm not being a smart ass I really don't get it.

ARCHIVED Do I Have To Be As Strict As Other Celiac Folk?
positivenrgfairy replied to sparky2222's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That was me like 2 weeks ago! I thought I could get away with just not eating the obvious stuff like bread and pasta, but getting sick from teensy cross contaminations in the past week woke me up. what comes after denial anyway?
