  1. I can totally sympathize with you! That's almost exactly how I felt before going gluten-free. I didn't have depression though, and my anxiety wasn't horrible (though apparently my stress and anxiety *should* be high, I'm told because of all I deal with, lol). I was just tired, ALL the time. My husband got really tired of my complaining that I was tired...
  2. Thanks, but the nearest Whole Foods is 2 hours away! Thankfully though, I'm feeling MUCH better today. Good to know that it only takes a good 24 hours to start feeling human again, lol . Tummy still isn't all the way back, but hey, can't expect too much!
  3. I had a thought... Have you been keeping a strict food notebook? Everything and everything you consume, write it down. Even if its a Tic Tac, write it down. Then write his symptoms down for the day too, and see if you can see any correlation betwen foods eaten and the symptoms.
  4. Well, I honestly didn't think I was *this* sensitive. I used my old bread machine (after carefully cleaning it out as best I could!) to make a loaf of gluten-free bread 2 days ago... I had a sandwich with said bread last night for dinner. By bedtime, I was having stomach pain and awful gas. Awful and painful gas! Today, I feel like I got run over by...
  5. I and my son also have dark circles under our eyes. I've been gluten-free for a few weeks and they're starting to get better. He is not gluten-free yet, but I'm in the process of weaning him off gluten, lol . I accidentally gluten myself yesterday, and guess what? ALL my symptoms are back, and the circles are MUCH darker than they were yesterday....
  6. When I was nursing my oldest son (mr. allergy, lol), it could take as little as 4 hours - and up to 12. It depends on how your body metabolizes the food. The doctor said no way it could be that fast, but sure enough, I'd accidentally consume some dairy, realize it, and 4 hours later I'd have a screaming, itchy, vomiting baby. And he'd be miserable for...
  7. I've only been gluten free for a few weeks, but I feel like I've been lifted out of a 'fog' now. I couldn't have a clear, concise thought or speak without stumbling over my words. You see those claritin commercials? The 'allergy fog' where the person is so miserable and just wants to lay around? Yeah, that was me! It wasn't so bad that I HAD to go to...
  8. Thank you both! I've always had a 6th sense with this kid. I told his ped the other day that something is off, and I just can't put my finger on it. At some point, I've got to do a stool catch - but its hard to catch it, b/c he always goes when I'm at work, and DH won't do it... . She put in the order for the stool testing, then I'm going...
  9. I'm relatively sure my son has the same issue that I do with gluten, and I'll be getting him on the diet soon. I have to wean him down first, because he doesn't take kindly to changes. That being said, I'm curious if his pupil dilation is a symptom?? His eyes have ALWAYS been dilated much larger than they should be. It kind of freaks me out a little...
  10. Thank you... I do have insurance, but there's no way we could afford all the dang deductibles. He doesn't think its Celiac (I did bring it up). Based on symptoms, and the fact that I'm feeling amazingly better, he thinks its most likely an allergy. I get an allergy test done every year (We're part of a food allergy study), and nothing has ever come up...
  11. I feel like a crazy person that's grasping at straws! I know I have a gluten issue myself - whether its an allergy or intolerance, whatever, I don't know. All I know is that I feel fantastic since starting this diet. Having been in a 'fog' for so long, its been hard to make my thoughts clear and come out clearly, lol. I've been on it almost 2 weeks...
  12. I've already started my gluten-free diet, and I feel AMAZING! It's only been a week, and I've got a few lingering issues but my energy level has skyrocketed. I'm just curious though, if I should rely on this solely? Or what to bring up with my doc tomorrow at my check up? I'm sure he's going to want to know how my migraines are doing (gone - been...
  13. Hi, I'm new, my name is Amber... I'm 95% sure I've got Celiac's. And I think my 4 year old might too. My symptoms have been passed over for YEARS - I'm 29, and just yesterday my best friend of 20 years and I were talking about when I was 10/11 and I would complain about my stomach ALL the time. Everyone thought I was a hypochrondriac. In 3rd grade...
