ARCHIVED Prenatal Vitamin.......gluten Free?
amberlynn replied to KristaleeJane's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I was breastfeeding my very food intolerant oldest son I found the Kirkman's Prenatal Vitamin. I really like it, it didn't make me sick or constipated like the ones I took when pregnant. I used it through my 2nd pregnancy (and still take them!). Open Original Shared Link I really do highly recommend it. -
ARCHIVED 3 Musketeers
amberlynn replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ha ha, this is so not something I needed to know, lol! I think I'm discovering WAY too much junk food that I'm allowed! -
ARCHIVED Feeling Dumb Again, Hives?
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank y'all. At least I know I'm not nuts! Only thing I could think of was the oats in the kids' body wash. The laundry detergent is safe, and I've been using it for nearly a year. My boys splashed my feet when they got out (??). I called the company I order all my personal care stuff through, and they said that everything I had either has wheat... -
So, I woke up with my feet covered in hives. This is the THIRD time I've gotten hit with hives since I went gluten-free. Anyone else experience this?? I'm thinking it means I'm actually allergic to wheat or gluten? I am itchy EVERYWHERE! When my son gets hit, his nose starts running like crazy now. Which is also what happens when he gets hit with...

ARCHIVED My Conditioner Might Be Making Me Sick...
amberlynn posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's the ONLY thing I can track it down to! My conditioner. I wash my hair every other day, and every other day I feel 'funny'. One day I left it on really long, and wound up thinking it was going to the store or kissing my hubby! I've been keeping track of all the I use, and just today realized the trend. It's one of the first few ingredients for Pete... -
ARCHIVED ? Diet Pepsi, Caramel Coloring
amberlynn replied to Clarissagoog's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I cannot handle caffiene even in small amounts (like chocolate). Migraines, stomachaches, etc... But I don't have trouble (that I've noticed!) with caramel coloring... interesting. -
ARCHIVED 2 Babies, Tons Of Symptoms Need Some Advise
amberlynn replied to courtney.hopkins's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Honestly, here's what I would personally do... Cut gluten out of your diet. Celiacs/gluten intolerance is genetic, and most likely your 2nd child has the same issue as your first. If that's the problem, then he will probably get better in a few weeks (you need to give it at least a month to pass through both your system and his). Don't worry so much... -
ARCHIVED New Bread Recipes On A Budget!
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That would be cool, but alas, I live in the middle of nowhere! It's an hour and a half to the nearest Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. We have ONE health food store, and the prices are, well, high. I get most of my stuff at the local HyVee, and they're pretty good (I don't think the prices are outrageous). I think there is a mexican grocery store?? But... -
ARCHIVED Starting Son With Autism On gluten-free Diet
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh yes, I make gluten-free waffles, muffins, etc. I tried Pamela's bread mix, but I just got a stand mixer yesterday and I didn't have much luck with my hands, lol! And I have no fear of trying to make things! I only work nights and weekends, so I have most of the day to bake! So far, I've noticed a BIG difference in him! We had an 'oops' Thursday... -
ARCHIVED New Bread Recipes On A Budget!
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you! I actually bought a stand mixer while at work today - I got a fantastic deal on one that was clearanced (it was the display model), and its in perfect condition. I cannot wait to start making bread! I will definitely try that recipe once I get my flours in . -
ARCHIVED Finally Someone Who Listened
amberlynn replied to Brittany2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Congrats on finding a good doc!! That's a great part of the battle, lol. Mine half believe me, but whatever. I don't know ho long it takes to get a test result back, but I hope it gives you some answers! -
ARCHIVED New Bread Recipes On A Budget!
amberlynn posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't have a stand mixer... yet. I'm supposedly getting one for Christmas. I had to toss my breadmaker cause I got glutened by it and I cannot clean it out properly. I need bread that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg! If I can get it down to $2/3 per loaf, I'll be happy. What's the best flour to use for this? Right now I've been buying... -
How many years have you been trying to live a gluten-free life? Just started... I had been gluten-free about 3 1/2 years ago when I was BFing my oldest son who had an apparent gluten problem then. Just recently realized the difference between how I felt then and how I felt recently. I feel SO much better now! It's been about 4 or 5 weeks is all. How...

ARCHIVED Ate "real" Chicken Nuggets Last Night
amberlynn posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So, my DS went to Grandma's with his daddy last night, and she fed him chicken nuggets. I didn't think it would be a big deal b/c we aren't officially starting his gluten-free diet til Sunday, but because he's been home with me for a few days he hasn't had any gluten (and I didn't even realize it til last night). When I undressed him last night for... -
ARCHIVED Went To The Grocery Store... And Kissed My Hubby...
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Our store has a HUGE bakery that is, seemingly, constant in motion! I could smell it as soon as I walked in, and I felt reasonably OK til I went there. I wound up staying home from work b/c I feel terrible!! Oh well... one night won't hurt. I don't think I'll give up kissing, but I'm gonna make sure DH brushes his teeth first, lol! -
ARCHIVED Went To The Grocery Store... And Kissed My Hubby...
amberlynn posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I specifically avoided the bakery at the store, which is not easy to do. The closest I got was the fruits. When I got up today, I felt OK, not great, but my hubby woke me up by locking himself out - again... So I got home, and now I'm dizzy, migraine started, and I feel weak all over. I called in sick to work, because I just feel like junk. But... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does A Gluten Reaction Last?
amberlynn replied to 1morething's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know, but the last time I accidentally had some (and it was no where near as much as you've had), it took a good 24 hours to feels mostly normal, and probably closer to 48 to get all the way back to normal. HTH. -
ARCHIVED Chicken Nuggets
amberlynn replied to Mey Marie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We tried the potato recipe last night, and they were a big hit - with my 2 year old, lol! I think its going to take awhile to get my picky 4 year old to try them. But, since I won't be buying them anymore, lol, he's gonna have to! -
ARCHIVED Starting Son With Autism On gluten-free Diet
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh I know!! That's why I've been verrrry slowly weaning him off gluten. The only person in my house who won't be gluten-free is DH. I think that since DS hasn't had bread in a few days, he might actually try the gluten-free bread I've got now. DH gets frustrated because he doesn't know how to cook ANYTHING and DS always wants bread and butter - so he... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Give You Neurological Symptons?
amberlynn replied to sixtytwo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Seizures and celiac are related?? After talking to my Mom about how I felt before going gluten-free, she kept saying "But I feel like that, I always have!" She just recently had a seizure in her sleep, and they can't figure out WHY she had a seizure - they just know she did. No history of seizures. I also read depression is related? She's been on... -
ARCHIVED Starting Son With Autism On gluten-free Diet
amberlynn posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
For one, to his teacher. I provide all snacks, but they keep sending 'treats' home for his good behaviour (OK, he's the ONLY kid in his class fully potty trained, who talks - a lot, lol, etc etc...), and its driving me batty! He's got several other food allergies as well, and I'm scared of completely overwhelming her, lol. His last allergy test showed... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Dumb... Reese's Pb Cups?

Yeah, they were normal. Shoot, I really hoped it wasn't the chocolate! -
ARCHIVED Feeling Dumb... Reese's Pb Cups?
amberlynn posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I SWEAR I read that the PB cups were gluten-free... but I ate a package the other day and wound up with a migraine. Intially, I was thinking the chocolate - but I made brownies w/ choc. chips and I'm fine... WTH? Any ideas?
