ARCHIVED 1 Yo Likely With Celiac Disease
teresasupermom replied to GreennGlutenFree's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I haven't found any replacements for Goldfish crackers. kinnikinnick has a lot of kid friendly stuff. We use Udi's bread too for pb&j. I am trying to stay away from processed stuff as much as possible, but those two come to mind for making kids feel closer to everyone else. -
ARCHIVED Grandmas, Granpas, & Aunties How Do You Deal With Relatives?
teresasupermom posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so stressed out about dealing with the inlaws. They are trying really hard, but they do so many things that revolve around food, going out to eat, etc. I feel like such a jerk, but I just called my sister in law and insisted on my daughter taking a sandwich to the restaurant they are going to. I am stressed out enough about her eating in a restaurant... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Reintroduction ... Your Personal Story Or Advice?
teresasupermom replied to gf family 2011's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My dd was diagnosed with a blood test and biopsy as I am sure many others here so there is no reason we'd ever do a reintroduction. I would get the blood test done while she is on gluten and get a formal diagnosis. If she doesn't wind up testing positive for celiac then you can always put her back to gluten free and go with your own findings of gluten sensitivity... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed -- 3 Year Old
teresasupermom replied to LHach's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I'm in Michigan, but on the other side of the state. We are still kind of new to the celiac thing so I am hesitant to give too much advice. Hopefully your doctor can speed up the appt to the GI. I know we wound up putting my dd gluten free and then the GI doc had us put her back on gluten until we could get her biopsy done. It was only a couple of... -
ARCHIVED Can Cc Be Enough To Make Iga Levels High?
teresasupermom replied to teresasupermom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well that is a little depressing. I am so afraid that her numbers will still not come down even with us all switching gluten-free. This is so much more frustrating than I ever thought it would be. -
ARCHIVED Can Cc Be Enough To Make Iga Levels High?
teresasupermom replied to teresasupermom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, we just switched the whole family gluten-free this week. We didn't buy new pots and pans or dishes. Everything we cooked has been gluten-free since this summer, but we hadn't gotten rid of the sliced bread or cereal (from my non0-celiac kids)until this week. My question wasn't so much is CC the problem. I am sure that it is, but more so could CC alone... -
ARCHIVED Can Cc Be Enough To Make Iga Levels High?
teresasupermom posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just got my dd's latest celiac panel. She's been diagnosed and gluten free for almost a year. Her first check at the 3 month mark levels were going down and doctor was pleased. The last two checks levels have been going up. I just got the results today and they said IGA was 53 and "highly positive". We have just this week switched the family over to... -
ARCHIVED Cc At School, Other Siblings Protesting gluten-free Foods, More
teresasupermom replied to teresasupermom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Fruit & yogurt is an excellent idea. They would all eat that. Placemat is a great idea as well. They do eat at their desks for snack time and their is no playdoh in the classroom. (She is 7 and in the 2nd grade.) I will check out the Udi's bagels. So far Udi's is the only bread that is going over well. I just got her actual numbers... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Other Auto-Immune Diseases
teresasupermom replied to Gluten Glutton's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thought I'd add my family. I don't have any one child with two autoimmune disorders, but we have a bunch of them here. I have 7 kids - two of them have type 1 diabetes, one has celiac, and another has hashimotos thyroiditis. -
ARCHIVED Just A Bug Or Ate Something She Shouldn't Have?
teresasupermom replied to kyga2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have other kids in the house so for me it's a little easier. If nobody else is sick then I lean towards eating something she shouldn't have or being glutened somehow. -
ARCHIVED I Glutened Her Again.
teresasupermom replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm getting so paranoid about things that I am afraid to feed my dd anything even when I've read the labels. I keep thinking I am missing something. It has definitely made me switch to less and less processed foods. Not much you can do, but move forward. -
ARCHIVED School Absences
teresasupermom replied to SilverSlipper's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My dd has been missing a lot of school this year as well. We had to work on her going to school even if she's not feeling 100% or she'd be missing a lot more. I am not sure how many absences we are up to this year, but it's definitely more than 10. -
ARCHIVED Cc At School, Other Siblings Protesting gluten-free Foods, More
teresasupermom replied to teresasupermom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
All of my kids have been tested except for the baby and my 11 year old. My two diabetics have been tested every year with their other blood work. My 11 year old is very anti needles so we kind of decided if he wasn't having symptoms we'd hold off until he needed blood work for anything. If he has symptoms or needs blood work at any point in time we'll... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Food Too Expensive... Tips For Feeding Family?
teresasupermom replied to GFMomma711's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We've had to adjust our cooking. We order gluten-free pasta online and in bulk. This has helped. I'm signed up with Amazon Prime so this gets us free shipping. I am still working out what to do with bread. My family does not like homemade bread. I've tried. We do mostly things that are naturally gluten-free. I've switched to Progresso soup and use... -
Gosh, we are just having lots of problems. My dd was diagnosed with celiac in March of last year after having constant complaints of tummy aches and not growing. She had blood work and biopsy to confirm. We have a strong family history of autoimmune disorders - 2 kids with type 1 diabetes, 1 with celiac, 1 with hashimotos thyroiditis. Anyhow, we tried...

ARCHIVED 19 Month Old Without Diagnosis
teresasupermom replied to bo-bear's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If she's having symptoms and has celiac she should test positive. You shouldn't have to have symptoms for x amount of time to get a positive antibody test. Now the intestinal damage might be different. We are still fairly new to celiac, but my daughter's test came up very positive and her biopsy was very clearly showing celiac. -
ARCHIVED Very Frustrated, How To Find Hidden Gluten
teresasupermom posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Okay, I got the gist of things now and thought I was doing good, but I'm frustrated. How do you know if something is truly gluten free? I have been reading labels and not getting stuff that has gluten ingredients and thought I was doing good. I've been giving my dd Kix cereal because I didn't see anything in it on the ingredients that she couldn't have... -

ARCHIVED Recently Diagnosed Where Do I Start
teresasupermom posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just received the call today from the pediatrician that my daughter tested positive for celiac disease. I have two children already with type 1 diabetes so I always worried about them getting celiac, but it hadn't occurred to me that my other kids were at higher risk for it. My daughter is six and is taking it well, but I am trying to figure out where...
