  1. It would be useful to know the exact conversation you had. In your description, you say they "couldn't guarantee their products to be gluten free." Who used the word "guarantee" first? That word has a definite legal meaning that creates legal liability. I have learned to NEVER use that word in any conversation, as it immediately ends useful discussion...
  2. I must disagree with you on this, and strongly. I don't know who you communicated with, but Kraft have a policy, company-wide and world-wide, that they will always clearly disclose any gluten source in the ingredient list. You don't need to call them, and if you do, they will explain the policy and tell you to read the label on the product. They don't have...
  3. I know Rachel well enough to know that Unclezack is a different person. Their written styles are quite different, for one thing.
  4. That was on Friday, and much has happened in this debate since then. The focus of that message was to clarify the board policy about the posting of links to other sites. I said that I didn't think you were a shill, but I am inclined to reconsider my thinking. You have posted more than twenty times in this thread. More than 90 percent of your total posts are...
  5. No, it is a forum to discuss a wide variety of issues in addition to celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Not all of our members are celiacs. We are interested in celiac disease, and in the gluten-free diet. Either one is fair game for discussion. This thread has been diligently monitored by moderators, including myself. We are aware of your concern...
  6. A phunny from me nephew: Quickie in the Bushes There are two statues in a park; one of a nude man and one of a nude woman. They had been facing each other across a pathway for a hundred years, when one day an angel comes down from the sky and, with a single gesture, brings the two to life. The angel tells them, 'As a reward for being so patient...
  7. Old El Paso will clearly disclose any gluten source, so if you don't see wheat, rye, oat or barley mentioned by name, you know it isn't in there. Vinegar, when listed as just that word, is always distilled and therefore safe. The vinegar to avoid is malt vinegar, and it will always be labeled as such.
  8. Emily, I tried to send you a PM, but your mailbox is full.
  9. I psee the psillies in Phiilly, but Laura has vanished.
  10. Good morning, everyone. I'm anxiously awaiting pictures too.
  11. I have the number 178 on my licence. Oh, weight, that's my me height, in centimeters. My eye coloUr would have to be detected by a good eye looking at the foto, which is less than one inch square.
  12. I'm at the store, so just kind of lurking and watching for news from Susie (which I have seen, and am very happy about).
  13. I believe that Heinz has changed their organic ketchup formula since this thread was started more than two years ago. It used to contain gluten, but no longer does, if I understand correctly. I don't use ketchup myself, so I haven't kept track.
  14. In my experience, it is quite rare for gluten to be intentionally included in a pharmaceutical product. Most manufacturers purchase raw ingredients, such as corn starch, from outside suppliers, and do not test them for possible cross contamination. So if you ask, they are unable to guarantee (be sure) that it is gluten-free. Unless they test everything...
  15. Welcome aboard. Just for openers, there are plenty of gluten-free pasta items that are made from rice, and are thus corn-free.
  16. There have been several threads on this topic in the past. You are new here, so you don't remember the pain this topic has caused in the past. Please search this board for "communion" and you will find what you need without rekindling the debate here.
  17. Yes, folks, labels will be changing, even if the products themselves won't. Until recently, in the USA, a claim of "Gluten Free" did not have any legal definition. Each company using the term could have their own definition, and did not have to adhere to any verifiable standard. In the future, to make this claim, the product will have to adhere to a...
  18. Velveeta is a Kraft product, and Kraft will clearly label any gluten in the ingredient list. If you don't see the words wheat, rye, oats or barley on a Kraft product, it is okay.
  19. What she said!
  20. Yes, "flavorings" could be concealing gluten. A number of companies have policies that say they will not hide gluten, but will clearly identify it in the ingredients list. Oscar Mayer is owned by Kraft, and has such a policy. But I don't know anything about the brand you refer to. I found their Open Original Shared Link, but it did not help with this question...
  21. Only Scott (admin) can do that. I've moved this to the Board/Forum help area, since it is really about how the board is structured - a technical help topic. Scott?
  22. Good morning, Sillyville. Another lovely day here, sunny and not humid at all. All of you under clouds on the Atlantic coast are welcome to come visit. Susie, where are you? Please check in.
  23. Good morning, all! Another beautiful sunny day hereabouts.
  24. Hail Queen Nikki! Beautiful weather here, but no fireworks expected.
  25. I figure it would take about 8 hours plus whatever delay I encounter at the border. Also, I'm at the store, and my passports are at home. Yes, that was plural. Happy Fourth, everybody!
