  1. Jason there's no need to be hard on yourself. I've seen pictures of myself when I was sick and they disgust me. I was a mess mentally, emotionally, and physically. I spent 2+ years without a single date because I had no desire to pursue those things, had no energy, and looked like hell. I was also unemployed and broke. If you've met someone you'd like...
  2. I ate regular food for the first 30 years of my life with no symptoms until my trigger event set things in motion. What I would like to know is if gluten does damage to celiacs without causing symptoms? I used to feel totally fine eating bread, pasta, etc., until just the last few years before I figured out my problem. Was I causing unknown damage all...
  3. Just before I decided to go gluten-free, I was down to 120lbs at 5'9" tall. I was starving all the time and my body was telling me to eat. I wound up packing on about 55lbs in just over a month by eating an entire pot of homemade rice pudding every day (made with 50%whole milk and 50% half n half). I was also pretty lethargic at the time and was barely...
  4. Have you been making out while he eats toast? My girlfriend went gluten-free for me, bless her heart, and even chose to give up her favorite body lotion because it had wheat. Contamination is the hardest part of being gluten-free, because it's so hard to control and you often don't know you messed up until after you get sick.

It's hard to feel normal when you have to worry about what you're eating all the time, so make sure you spend some time and effort making your head right too.
  6. All you should need to hear are the stories of the others on this forum who have laundry lists of health problems in order to know that you should strive to be 100% gluten-free and not take risks.
  7. Trader Joe's list of "no gluten ingredients used" foods is bogus and no help at all to sensitive groups. I became extremely ill after eating gluten contaminated food three days in a row. I thought it was safe because it was on the list and I read the ingredients. What I didn't see was the "made on shared equipment" warning that was on the side of the container...
  8. Glad you found out what your problem was. There's no way to tell how long it will take for you to feel better, but a rough guess based on my personal experience would be a month. I would avoid MSG regardless of worrying about your celiac. Don't fall into eating junky food, thinking that it's good just because it's gluten free. Having celiac disease helps...
