ARCHIVED Enterolab Results For My Kids
Mac55 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I got the results for both my sons' Enterolab testing today. At the time we could only afford to do the gluten sensitivity test for each of them. Wish we could have done more. I think we can swing it now. My 4-year-old: Gluten Sensitivity Stool Test Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA: 22 Units My 2 1/2 year-old: Gluten Sensitivity Stool Test Fecal Anti... -
So, I've cut the main sources of soy out of my diet already. I know I can't handle things like soy cheese, milk, etc. Now I'm thinking it all has to go. I remember when I was breastfeeding my son and had to cut a bunch of food out of my diet (he was colicky), that I read soy lecithin didn't seem to bother a lot of people. Have you cut out every soy ingredient...

Thanks for your replies everyone! I just finished scrubbing some cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. Good advice all around on the replies. I had just thought about the microwave after reading a post last night. I haven't bought a new toaster yet, dumb, I know. It's not shared, at the moment, but I know there's residual gluten from the past in there. Any...

I'm just coming out of a pretty bad glutening. Last night I was finally able to function moderately after a few days. I can't attribute it to one thing in particular but I know I need to finish the kitchen changes. This is what I've done so far, checked meds, vitamins and body products, just bought new pots, pans, colander and wooden spoons (this should...

ARCHIVED Allergy Medicine
Mac55 replied to Googles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take generic Rite Aid allergy meds. It's the same as Zyrtec-D. I totally forgot when I went to the store to get it, so I called when I got home and cetiri-D is safe. I have no idea about the others though. Soooo not looking forward to allergy season! -
ARCHIVED Do You Feel More Mentally Healthy After Going gluten-free?
Mac55 replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Completely!! My mental state was one of the first things to improve when I went off gluten. It's also one of the first things I notice when I've been glutened. I've never been formally diagnosed with anything other than depression but I've had lots of anxiety, irritability, mood swings, etc. that had just gotten worse until I was diagnosed. I couldn't believe... -
ARCHIVED Can An Abscess Be Related To Coeliac?
Mac55 replied to snapdragon's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Funny, I was thinking about this the other day. I've had two infected cysts in the past two years. I guess 3 if you count a burst ovarian cyst last year. Not sure if that falls into the same category. I had one on my upper back that had to be removed and a pilonidal cyst that I treated with hot compresses and then took antibiotics for. I don't know for... -
ARCHIVED Overreacting?
Mac55 replied to melblondin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know it's hard but don't listen to people that say there's nothing wrong with your child. I had that too. I was just talking to my husband about that last week. I would say things to others in the past like he's sooo active, won't sit still, doesn't seem to hear me when I'm talking to him, etc, etc, etc. People would say things like, oh all children are... -
ARCHIVED Sorry . . . Diaper Question!
Mac55 replied to kyga's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I'm not sure what the answer is but I've seen it too. The day after my older son's first birthday his diaper was pure "sand." We couldn't figure out whether it was the sugar, the milk, something else. That was the first time he'd had milk, cake, sugar. Within the next week we introduced milk and took him off and put him on soy because he was just throwing... -
ARCHIVED Overreacting?
Mac55 replied to melblondin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I definitely don't think you're overreacting. I would get all your children tested. Follow your gut. You know there's something going on and you know how much better you feel not eating gluten. Have you looked into Enterolab testing for yourself? My older son spit up ALL the time. When I say spit up I don't mean a little or just after meals. He wasn't... -
It's so interesting to hear your story. I haven't ever "talked" to anyone who understood what I was going through. No one gets how messed up it is to live inside your head with this. I've tried to describe it to some people but how can you really? Mine started at work when I was waitressing. It was a very busy summer night and all of a sudden everything...

I'm so sorry for what your daughter's going through. It must be so hard to watch. She has a lot of the symptoms I had, except I never passed out, came close, or had chest pain. I was diagnosed with silent migraines last fall and get twinkling lights with them. I know others get flashes of light with theirs. It also may be a seizure as well. I would get her...

Sorry, haven't had a chance to get back to you. I will soon. My son's birthday was yesterday, party last night, party tomorrow. Maybe I can sit down tonight after I go grocery shopping.

Thanks so much for posting this!

I didn't have problems getting pregnant but I am wondering if I'll have any issues if we try again. Your post struck me. I've had derealization episodes for 7 years now. They started off few and far between but rapidly became an everyday occurrence. I know how you feel. It's horrible. What do you take? I found out last fall that I've been having silent migraines...

Oh my gosh, thank you! I've been constantly asking my husband to wash his hands if he touches ANYTHING with gluten in it. I'd never thought of the bathroom thing. I know this will make him more vigilant. He sees what a wreck I become when I get glutened not to mention what I was like before.

Just saw the date on your post. How did your appointment go??
-
Good luck with your appointment! I really don't have any useful info, as I haven't traveled down that road, yet. I'm sure others will be able to help. I'm thinking of go BI too. My neurologist and endocrinologist are there and it seems like they have a pretty good Celiac Center. I'll be very interested to hear how your appt goes. I hear you on not just wanting...

ARCHIVED Hearing Voices?
Mac55 replied to katco's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh I'm so sorry for what your son has been going through, and you as well. My son is only 4 and has major attentional issues, some sensory and health issues. Since having him gluten free he's almost like a different child. He told me he would hear things and cover his ears. When we got out of the car at night his hands would literally be plastered to his... -
So, I've been staying away from corn, as I've realized it doesn't agree with me. I've felt SOOO much better since I cut that out. I went to a baby shower on Saturday and brought a dip/salady dish. That was gluten-free, obviously. I brought corn chips for it for the others and brought my own crackers for myself. All I had while I was there was fruit salad...

ARCHIVED Rite Aid Generics Will Be Labeling Gluten Free Soon!
Mac55 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I went to Rite Aid yesterday to get some allergy medication, cetiri-D, that time of year. I always buy the generics, so I didn't even think about checking to see if it's gluten free until I got into the car. I called the number on the box when I got home and after a while the lady told me this batch was gluten free but to call whenever I bought a new medication... -
ARCHIVED Food Diaries - A Must For Those Starting Out
Mac55 replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the post. I really think this is what I need to do at this point. I'm so up and down and I've been SOOO careful with cross-contamination issues and such. It probably does help to look at it in black and white and have it as a reference. My memory isn't what it used to be. -
ARCHIVED Question About Enterolab Form
Mac55 replied to Mac55's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the reply. I just didn't want to make a mistake in the ordering process. I did end up calling them and I had to order them in the boys names. The tests are on their way!! -
Thanks for your replies. As I don't have DH I really don't know much about it. So it doesn't resemble hives? I'm hoping they do get her tested for allergies. I know she has something up, just like I knew with my son. He definitely has a few allergies/sensitivities. Miila's Mom, why would do suspect Thyroid? Does Hashimotos come with a rash or hives...

I found out I have Celiac about a month ago. In my research I read a bit about DH. I don't have it but my friend's daughter has unexplained hives. My friend is currently looking into the whole Celiac/Gluten Sensitivity thing as herself and many members of her family fit the bill in one way or another. Her daughter is almost 4 and is in remission from Leukemia...
