  1. I was diagnosed with this condition in 1997 and with vestibulitis several years later. I was just diagnosed with Celiac about a month ago. I, too, was wondering if there were any connection between the 2. My pain gets worse if I eat foods with a high oxalic acid content. That is a pretty limiting diet in itself. So when I found out that I have Celiac, that...
  2. I can relate. I also am allergic to foods that are high in oxalic acid. These include spinach, beets, sweet potatoes, dark green leafy vegetables, berries, nuts, spices, soy, chocolate, tea, coffee and more. With me, the oxalic acid forms tiny crystals in my bladder and then peeing is very painful and I get all irritated afterwards. I felt like this was bad...
  3. I just was diagnosed with celiac disease 3 weeks ago and have been on the diet barely 3 weeks. I keep hearing people saying that if you suddenly eat something with gluten, you will get "very sick." My question is, what do they mean by sick? Do they mean throwing up/stomach issues? Or do they mean flu like symptoms like headaches, body aches, fever? or do...
  4. I've been on the diet for almost 3 weeks and the 1st week was the hardest. I've had bouts of depression (esp. crying spells) and have felt more tired than usual as well as more anxiety and irritability. I'm also craving all kinds of carbs and I feel hungry more often.
  5. I'm so glad I found this post. I have thought that I was the only one who had this problem (for my age at least...I'm 32). I sometimes wake up as much as 4-6 times per night to pee. Even if I don't have to go that much, I have to pee or otherwise I can't get back to sleep. I've been taking clonazapan every night now and that has greatly reduced the # of times...
  6. i've been on the gluten-free diet for 3 weeks now and my restless legs haven't gotten much better, hard to tell if there's much improvement at all. I have increased my Nuerontin to 600 mg per night and am taking 1.5 pills of Mirapex and 1 Clonazapan each night, so that's been helping. I'm hoping that this diet will help with the restless legs as well.
  7. I just got diagnosed with Celiac Disease 3 weeks ago. I'm a 32 year old single woman and I'm wondering if there are any men around my age in the Champaign-Urbana area? I'd also like to know if there is a local support group.
  8. I'm new. Please welcome me into the community!

  9. Does anyone know if you can get gluten contamination through wheat being accidentally sniffed into your lungs? For instance, if you are in a kitchen that has flour and a few particles get sniffed up (as in pollen)? I know this is a weird question, but should you wear a paper mask when you have to be in the vicinity of gluten?
