  1. I went gluten free in April of this year and we began trying to do separate meals in the kitchen. Then at the end of school (June) I put my youngest daughter on gluten free diet with me to see if it would help her ADHD and hyper activity. It has BTW! With each meal my hubby prepared I heard a bit of grumble grumble from him. I finally figured out...
  2. I am very interested in your statement that certain diseases would not happen if gluten was avoided. Could you explain a bit further why you feel/think/believe this way? Thank you!
  3. Thank you everyone for the responses. I got so frustrated earlier after posting I felt myself hitting the depression mode and knew I wanted to eat so I promptly drove to my fav gluten free bakery and had lunch. I didn't want to give up and eat poison! Not that much gluten is left in my house at this point. I feel a little better after a large piece...
  4. Ok, after waiting for a week for the OB nurse to call me I found out this morning that my pap was normal (surprising since I usually have abnormal cells hmmm??) and my vaginal ultrasound was normal. (LONG LOUD SCREAM inserted here!) However she strongly wants to do a laproscopy. I mean I don't want something to be wrong but on the other hand this...
  5. Well, let's just say I was a fertile mrytle as the saying goes. On 2 of them I was using protection and one of those was the pill AND a condom! I never put it together that it was gluten issues but now looking back I can see it so clearly! *sigh* I really believe the only things that saved me on the first 3 were the hospitalizations and living on...
  6. I knew it had to be the shells! They were the only new thing all weekend. Plus I felt gluten attacked Friday night when we first ate them and then again Saturday night when I had them as leftovers. UGH!! Will NOT be getting those again! Gluten-Free food guide? Where did you find this? Can you point me in that direction? Thanks for everyone...
  7. I am beginning to feel the same way. I find that I don't crave the bread and cookies nearly as much as before going gluten free. I get these amazing hamburger buns from my gluten free bakery and boy were they good! I find that now being gluten free I eat so much less! In fact I have to watch very closely what I eat so that I am eating enough to be...
  8. Oh I could write novels on my horrible pregnancies. I almost lost all 4 and was hospitalized with everyone of them with preterm labor, dehydration and more. First 2 were early and my son was born and had to be kept in NICU b/c of complications. Last one was the healthiest of all b/c I began to live on rice at the end of the pregnancy. Thank GOD for that...
  9. Reading your post a light bulb came on for me. Never did I even put together the fact that with all 4 pregnancies I was violently sick and I was CONSTANTLY eating toast and crackers. WELL DUH!!! No wonder I was throwing up sometimes as many as 20 times a day. With my last one I remember being so very sick that I just laid in the hall throwing up...
  10. I just checked my shredded cheese and as far as I can tell it doesn't have any gluten. Please share what brand had dusting of gluten so I can avoid it in the future. Thanks!
  11. The cheese was already shredded! UGHHHHH Thank you for telling me about this. I had no clue before you told me. Now, I definitely will be adding this danger to my list of lookouts. **Sigh**
  12. Very interesting. What type of testing can I have done to figure out if I have any other type of allergies? I went in for a skin prick test but because I couldn't breathe to some level in the little machine the tech said she could not do the tests because I could die from not breathing. I have a hernia in my diaphragm that I am convinced causes issues...
  13. First I don't think you are dumb. I totally get the it was 4th of July thing. I did it on my daughter's graduation weekend. I suffered for an entire week after. UGH Now, for the Blue Diamond, when cooking with it does it taste the same? Or is there a different flavor?
  14. This is VERY interesting to me. Ok, do you get low estrogen right before your cycle? I ask because I had the gluten feelings and then the next day yup got my period. I have had issues with migraines in the last year and actually that starting me going to the dr. They were so bad I couldn't function. And yes they are triggered by the bright...
  15. I think the seasoning was McCormick. I read ingredients and thought I was safe but I am still learning. The pkg is already thrown away so I couldn't look again. I haven't had any issues with corn for other things. The turkey is made by HEB and they have taken a HUGE campaign out to promote gluten free and such. They are revamping their products...
  16. OMG! It's SO possible! Hubby and I switched off driving for the trip. He had eaten some chips which I don't think were gluten free. I was so careful too. I didn't even kiss him that day b/c of the CC possibility. I am a freak about germs but didn't think of wiping the steering wheel down in between us driving. I usually just do it after a trip...
  17. I need help. I want to find a good doctor that has experience with celiac/gluten intolerance. I want to be able to sit and talk with a professional that "gets" it. My general doctor is so nice and helpful but I don't think he "gets" it. My OB is like ohhh yes. You know the slight nod that is polite when you mention gluten free to someone who doesn...
  18. I have been considering taking out dairy completely. I thought I was ok with the absence of milk because I was drinking it down after every bowl of cereal. (Please understand that I was a CEREAL freak! sometimes 3 or 4 bowls a day. It's easy, quick and nothing to cook. I know lazy, lazy.) If I do cut dairy what besides cheese and milk? I mean could...
  19. Thank you so much for your post sickchick. I took your advice and wiped the tears and breathed a bunch! I am now beginning to feel a little better. ((Hugs))
  20. I have been gluten free since April of this year. I have had several bumps in the road as I learn and research more and more. I really have been thinking that I was getting a better grip on it though because I stopped the processed food that states gluten free and went more to fresh prepared. New pan, new utensils, separate storage area for my gluten free...
  21. Ok, I was super duper careful this weekend with anything I put into my mouth. I just am so desperate to stay away from gluten, but this weekend I got hit. Not really, really hard but it did happen enough to knock me down a bit. I knew we were traveling for a day trip so I prepared the night before. I went shopping and then prepared an entire cooler...
  22. Thanks for all the responses thus far. Yes, my new OB is FANTASTIC! I love her already! She already said we need to think about laproscope and I told her no need to think let's get to it! She wanted the ultrasound first and we are moving forward with the laproscopy. I sure hope they find something. I am thinking maybe I have scar tissue from...
  23. You are all so sweet here! Thank you for the hugs and support! The thing is that I remember them hurting much worse way back in the days when I was preg. Can't remember which kid it was but I had to have so many of these type ultrasounds it was something else. The actual test itself was not hurting. The pushing on my abdomen was what hurt...
  24. No meds that would thin my blood. In fact after being gluten free since April I only the last 2 weeks have been able to stop the symax which was prescribed by the first (fired) GI for the spasms. Yes, I do need the prayers and thank you! I will definitely update when I get an answer.
  25. No chance of that. Both my hubby and I are 2nd marriage with each other and in previous marriages we were the responsible ones. So, we are double covered with that issue! Good thing too because he has 2 and I have 4 so that is a grand total of 6 kids. I have talked to my OB, my GI and my general dr about the HORRID periods. All are trying to figure...
