  1. That's good to know...it makes me nervous too. I'm really hoping that as I get better and if I can stop accidentally getting glutened it will go away completely!
  2. I used to have that below-the-ribs pain, too. For awhile I thought it was something with my ribs even, the pain was around the very lowest rib. It went away about the time that I started having the pain by my hip...or maybe it just moved. The rib pain quit shortly after I went gluten-free and the lower pain is much worse if I get glutened.
  3. Thanks, I'll have to try it! Hey, I noticed that the recipe is off the gluten-free Utah board...are you in UT? That's where I live.
  4. For about a year now, almost always just the right side. However I've noticed lately that sometimes I get the same kind of pain on the left...not nearly as often, but occationally.
  5. I would love to find a gluten-free cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup...especially a concentrate...that I can use in cooking things like casseroles or rice dishes. Does one exist?
  6. I have that exact pain! Right above my right hip bone, not even really a pain but more of an annoying feeling that comes and goes. I do notice that it gets MUCH worse when I have been glutened, and doesn't bother me if I've been really careful. I used to have a similar pain on the right side but right under my ribs, which the dr. said could be gas getting...
  7. I don't know about Domino's (although it would be terrific if it's true!) but I'd be careful about blue cheese. This week I almost bought a tub of crumbled blue cheese, and luckily looked at the lable....it specifically said that it contained WHEAT. Yipes! Maybe some blue cheeses add something else that makes them unsafe? Boar's Head blue cheese is...
  8. oooo that burns me up! We have been eating Malt-o-Meal "corn bursts" and I discovered just last week that they are no longer OK. ARgh. I found this out AS I was eating a big bowl My son and I have both been feeling crummy, and I think that this was a big reason why. Too bad, because it was one of the only *cheap* cereals we've found that tastes...
  9. Ener-G are my favorite...they taste the most like a plain old cracker IMO. They are a little crumblier than "real" crackers, but add a crispy base without a distincive rice or nut taste so you can put brie, cream cheese, or other toppings on them and not have another taste on top of that.
  10. Thanks for the encouragement, I have been much more careful the last few days with what I've eaten and I do seem to be getting better. I am going over everything I eat with a fine-toothed comb and trying to make sure everything is safe, hopefully I will see enough of an improvement in the next week or two that it will set my mind to rest about something...
  11. I just checked and found out that all Mountain High yoghurts are gluten-free. They are soooo good! Not only are they gluten-free, they are also sweetened with fruictose and taste wonderful. A big container of Mountain High all natural yoghurt costs the same as a store-brand, corn syrup sweetened tub does...and costs less than Dannon or Yoplait, at least...
  12. Hhhmmm, dairy...I did try eleminating dairy before I went gluten-free, thinking maybe that was the problem. I felt considerably better, but not as good as I did once the wheat was gone. After I had been gluten-free for awhile, dairy quit bothering me unless I drank plain milk. Maybe I should cut out the dairy again, at least for awhile until I get better...
  13. Argh, I can't seem to keep myself from getting glutened for long enough to really get better! I'll be feeling better and then wham, glutened again. This time, I really did it...I was cooking pasta for relatives right before Thanksgiving, and for the first time in nearly a year I bought regular pasta and gluten-free pasta and cooked both (in seperate pans...
  14. I feel your pain....my gut is like a balloon, sometimes I look pg and other times I look fine. It's driving me nuts! Some days by the end of the day I just want to take my pants off NOW because the waste is so tight. The next day, the same pants are loose on me! AAaaaaahhhh! It doesn't help that when I get any amount of gluten I end up retaining so much...
  15. I just wanted to share that I tried Enjoy Life's Snickerdoodle cookies...and *liked* them!! They are moist, chewy, and don't have that gritty aftertaste than most gluten-free cookies do. They also didnt' have any wierd or artificial ingredients in them. Also, I can't rave enough about Chebe's breadsticks. I'd heard they were good but had held off...
  16. Oh yea! I was just looking to post a question about this. I had Pei Wei last night, and the sweet and sour chicken was great...but I was worried that although they left the *batter* off the chicken, it was still kind of crispy and seemed to have been dredged in something before cooking. I was worried it might have been flour! I'm so glad, I was finally...
  17. Gummi Vites have a calcium product that's great, they've got a sort of sour sugar coating on top. I emailed the company that makes them and they said that all their products are gluten-free, however I don't know if they meant all their *bear* supplements or all of them in general, including the taffy chews.
  18. I couldn't take suppliments for years because they just didn't sit well. About 2 months after starting on the gummi vites I have really started to feel better energy-wise, and my body seems to be recovering in a lot of ways. I found the gummi vites at Costco in a huge container, the Calcium suppliments are terrific too!
  19. I was always a skinny kid, when I was 16 I lost a lot of weight on *top* of being skinny and people started to worry about me a little. This, in retrospect, also happened right around the time I started having D most of the time. I gained a little back and stayed pretty healthy until about 5 years ago, when I gained about 20 or more pounds and couldn't...
  20. Is Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil gluten-free? I can't remember if it's Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil or Hydrogenated Vegetable Protien that is not gluten-free, or both (or neither?). I'm trying to track down what's making me sick again.
  21. The only vitamins I can stomach are Gummi Vites, they are little gummy bears and don't have any viamin taste at all. Other types sit in my stomach like a ton of bricks, these have been much better.
  22. I had that same pain last year on the right side, right under my ribs (in fact it was sort of located right around the bottom two ribs). My dr. also said it was IBS, that gas can build up and tends to build up in that area (which makes a sharp turn to the left), and can expand your intestine to the size of a softball (!) which could be causing the pain....
  23. I actually did have a nasty reaction to Kettle Chips, maybe the one size bag and one type chip was the one I got...but it didn't look suspect in any way at all when I read the lable. I was pretty sick from them, though, so I'd advise eating Kettle Chips with caution. Which is too bad, cause they are really good!
  24. Whoa, are you serious? Right here in SLC?!? Guess that's *one* good thing about living here....Yipppeeee!!!! I'm going to see if I can find it and buy some bread!
  25. I get anxiety attacks, too...they will even wake me up at night!
