  1. Oh, no! I didn't mean to scare you, there are some really *great* products out there too! I was just wanting to get a few laughs out of the ones we've tried that didn't make the grade. Maybe we should add three BEST products, too? Hmmm, it really is hard to narrow the list down on this one. 1. Annie's frozen gluten-free cheese pizza. I add extra...
  2. Ok, I'm in a rare mood tonight so I thought I'd start a thread just for fun. We've all been there...the gluten-free product that you shelled out half your life savings for, slaved over for two hours in the kitchen, looked forward to trying all week long and turned out to be AWFUL!!! Let's vent about our *least* favorite gluten-free products and get...
  3. Apple juice doesn't sit well with me, either. I can eat regular apples if they are tart (I enjoy slices apples used instead of crackers or bread with a little blueberry cream cheese) but apple juice makes me sick to my stomach. Just the thought makes me ill
  4. One of the first things I noticed when I went gluten-free was that my face totally cleared up! Sadly, the acne came back a little after several months, and now I break out if I get glutened. Yuk!
  5. That's what I was experiencing...nasty gi issues plus aches and pains. I checked the gin maker's website and found that it is made up of distilled wheat and also had some odd additives that might not be safe. Wine doesn't have the same effect on me at all. I also stick to the balsamic vinegar, I tried rice but it tasted funny so it's wine or balsamic for...
  6. Aha, found it! The good news is: it's Gluten Free. The bad news is: Now I have to go searching for the *real8 culprit, and it could be just about anything. Sigh. Oh well, they really are good vitamins and the kids love them. Just wish I knew what it was that was setting us off!!!
  7. Thanks, Karen...I just checked the Delphi list and saw that it's listed as gluten-free (they are made by "Lil critters") but it says it was checked "by lable"...is that pretty accurate, or is it sometimes questionable if it's just by the lable? I emailed the company, but don't have an answer yet. Thanks!
  8. Does anyone know if Gummy Vites are gluten-free? I just bought a huge bottle of regular and another of Calcium at Costco, they taste great and don't look suspect on the label, however I have been reacting to *something* all week and my son started complaining today that he is, too...the vitamins are the most obvious thing on the list of new foods that we...
  9. I agree, you've gotten some great advice here. I just wanted to reiterate something mentioned above...eating constantly would only be a psychological problem if she were also gaining weight, but does *Not* suggest a psychological problem if your little one is still on the small side. She must not be properly digesting and absorbing nutrients if she's eating...
  10. Ugh! Sorry you got glutened....I'll keep this in mind when I buy juice next. Sheesh, you'd think at least Orange Juice would be safe!
  11. I know that distilled alcohol and vinegar are supposed to be OK due to the process of distilling (according to a couple of sources) but I think that I *do* get a reaction from them! I was drinking a gin and tonic several nights a week for about a month and had been feeling crummy...not as as crummy as I feel when I get a big dose of gluten but generally...
  12. Does anyone know if Seagram's gin has gluten? Yipes, now that it's summer I've been hitting the gin and tonics (well, "hitting" might not be exact but I *have* been having several a week). I just read that gin is not always gluten-free?!? Any suggestions for a good, not-too-expensive brand? And what about tonic water? Looks OK lable wise but I...
  13. I hope you've found the culprit and that you feel better soon! I have been seriously thinking of getting some beano after my last glutening incident, bloated for 4 days straight and then pain in my gut for another 4 days. Argh! However, if it's made out of fungus of any sort I think I'll stay away from it. Right now my system seems to be so sensitive...
  14. Most playdough is made mostly of flour and salt I have a big list of about a zillion play-dough recipes, some of which are really neat and don't contain gluten...if anyone wants them I can post a few. There is one particularly nice one that uses sand and dries up to form permanent sand castles...plus a few I think that use mostly corn starch. Not...
  15. Just wondering how many people here also have reflux? It seems like it often goes along with celiac's. I don't have a problem with it but my son gets reflux that hurts so bad it keeps him up at night whenever he gets wheat, and my daughter had reflux pretty bad as a toddler so I'm wondering if she might have the same problem. Does anyone else notice reflux...

    ARCHIVED Good Dr. In Utah?

Does anyone know of a good Dr. in Utah (Salt Lake City area) who knows about celiac disease and other gi problems? Preferrably someone who could be the primary care doctor for me and for my kids. The doctor we were seeing is clueless, plus it takes months to get in to see him and his office bills in a wierd way that causes my insurance to tack on an extra...
  17. I have simalar problems, but on my right side. Also nasy back pain. It is worst in the morning and then gets better gradually during the day. I'm not sure what it is, but I sure notice it worse when I know I've been glutened. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has an idea about what's causing this, because it kind of has me worried!
  18. Thanks! I hope I haven't set myself back, I've had accidents before but none that resulted in this much discomfort. The reactions I've had before lasted maybe 4 or 5 days, so far it will be a week on this one tomorrow and i'm guessing that I won't be better for at least another few days after that. It's good to hear that 2 weeks isn't unusual, hopefully...
  19. Oh, I can soooo identify!!! I swear I gain two pants sizes when I've been glutened. I've been so bloated all week, and feel like I have PMS even tho I don't (retaining water, is my guess). Also, I can't seem to get rid of about 10 pounds that I'd like to see gone...baby fat from my last child who is now 2 1/2...no matter what I do I just won't go away...
  20. I agree about the cheating aspect. A better way to put that would have been "everybody will *want* to cheat" at one time or another...but knowingly eating something with gluten is like an alcoholic having a cocktail every now and then....not good! I know, because the only time I knowingly ate gluten in the last 5 months has been a communion wafer--did...
  21. What are the symptoms of intestinal candida infections?
  22. After over 5 months gluten-free I had gotten used to feeling constantly better (but not great) than I had been feeling right before getting rid of wheat. I had forgotten how miserable it felt! I managed to really gluten myself in the last week or so, first by eating out several days in one week. I was working on a photo shoot w/ my hubby, and we didn't...
  23. June, I wish I had your doctor! The explanation he gave sounds very reasonable. How long have you been gluten-free and how long has it taken for you to feel better?
  24. Another question on the Staxx....I noticed that the bbq flavor (which was really yummy) had a "this product is naturally gluten free" lable on it, but the pizza flavor did not. I assume that they are *all* gluten-free if they are made on a dedicated line, but is there a reason why they wouldn't put the lable on some flavors?
