    ARCHIVED Iodine?

I was reading a thread where someone was reacting to iodine. Can anyone fill me in on this? I think I'm having a problem with salt and hoping that an iodine free salt will be ok. Thanks!
  2. Great thread! I was just going to post something asking about grain tolerance, thinking I can't possibly have a problem with that AND gluten . Guess again, right? I just wanted to add that a really good source for eating traditionally is the Weston A. Price Foundation.
  3. It seems like I always go downhill around that time, but I'm careful about the shampoo's I use (tropical traditions organic coconut oil shampoo and burts bees conditioner). So I'm not sure what else is going on. I've started using a progesterone cream when I begin to feel like that - about mid-day - and it has helped. I've also had to drastically reduce...
  4. oops, just saw your update -- I'm glad you switched doctors until you found a good one :0). Have they considered asthma? Weight gain: in addition to fresh veggies and grass fed meats: potatoes, sweet potatoes, butter (cream and salt only - unless you have a dairy issue), unrefined coconut oil, nut butters (nuts and salt only), fresh fruit (peel the non...
  5. I'm new to this and not nearly as sensitive as you or the others, but I just wanted to agree with continuing to monitor your thyroid and staying away from processed foods. Loved the coconut oil suggestion, I'm a big fan of it. Also, you're very young, but it couldn't hurt to have your other hormone levels tested. Be sure to get a full work up: CBC, antibodies...
  6. I wonder if these people would special make something: Open Original Shared Link If so, you could try a couple products and see if they're any good (I'll have to try them myself :0).
  7. Maybe you could have just the cake part of it shipped, then have someone local decorate it.
  8. I just tried this and it was pretty tasty. My husband, who is not gluten-free, liked it alot and was surprised when I told him it was gluten free. There might be a better substitute for the flour I used (maybe almond flour?). Anyway, if you can have chocolate, adding chocolate chips to the batter would pretty much rock. Oh, and I liked the flavor and...
  9. eesh, that sounds insane and I can't see me doing it, so I guess I'll go by how I feel and not an "official" diagnosis. I'm also starting to read some of the signatures and see that it's common to have a negative result anyway. Fun.
  10. I've been eating gluten about once a week for the past 6 months. Sometimes I go longer without eating it and sometimes it's more frequent. I just recently ate some and was in bed for 3 days with a migraine, etc.
  11. Another question: How about if I go 2 weeks without gluten then have a bunch of bread the night before my labs? Will that be sufficient for reliable results? I really don't think I can eat it daily until then.
  12. I think gluten and dairy definitely have addictive properties, which is hard to notice when you eat it all the time. Once you are "off" of it, the cravings should go away. However, you have to be careful of processed foods as most contain flavor enhancers, like MSG (hidden under a ton of aliases) which is addictive and makes you want to eat more. Not to...
  13. Can someone enlighten me on what DH is? What is the test for it? It sounds like I can be gluten free and have this test be accurate for Celiac?
  14. Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.
  15. My doctor says that it doesn't matter if I'm eating gluten or not in order for the anti-bodies to show up on the blood test. Based on what I've read, she's wrong. How long can I go gluten free before it affects my test results? I want to stop gluten asap, but I feel like I need the dx as added incentive to stay away from it.
