  1. The above would be my advice. I feel like I lost 2 and 1/2 months of my life because of the gluten challenge I just got off of. The biopsy results? Negative. Yet now I'm left with ten extra pounds that I was unable to fight off while on gluten, not to mention I turned into a depressed/angry recluse and missed out on doing fun things with the family because...
  2. I had the endoscopy on March 30 and was given a preliminary report the same day, with pictures, too. It reported diffuse atrophic mucosa in the second part of the duodenum. This was all stuff he could see with just the scope. Today was the appt. for the actual biospy results, which I listed above. The file date listed on the pathology report says April...
  3. I'll just list the stuff for the small intestine, and not the stomach biopsy. Final Diagnosis: Small Bowel Biopsy: Small intestinal mucosa with no histopathologic abnormality Specimens Received: Specimen B: small bowel bx consists of 3 fragments of pale tan tissue, the largest measuring in greatest diameter 0.5 cm, the smallest 0.2 cm. All...
  4. Well, I just got back from my appointment with the GI, and my one biopsy came back normal. He's decided he's done with me, no pill cam. He pointed out my negative blood tests, too. Um, yeah, when you're not eating gluten, it's not a good idea to take blood tests (this was back on Jan. 27, pre-gluten challenge). The only thing he said is that I could have...
  5. I agree. I would get it done now while you're still eating gluten. What's the point of going off of it and then back on?? Gluten challenges suck, and no one really knows for sure how long you should be on one in order to bring the damage back. Everyone's body is different, so all we can do is guess. From reading here, I've seen people test positive after...
  6. You must be one tough cookie, because there's no way I'd do that procedure without sedation. At least it was worth it in the end, since you got conclusive results that backed up your blood tests. How many weeks total did you do the gluten challenge before the day of the biopsy?
  7. Good point!! I have my appt. on Wednesday to find out the results. Until then, I'm trying to think about anything but those results. It's not working....
  8. I picked up Jack in the Box on the way home from my biopsy and I barely got through a few bites before my stomach started cramping up. It's been two days since I've had it done and my stomach still hurts just a little after I eat. I'm not sure what it's from, but it might be normal. I did have a stomach biopsy taken, too, so it was pretty dumb to try...
  9. Don't you wish they'd just do it right the first time?? The procedure was easy enough, but I wouldn't want to do it again. Don't have much patience for waiting around and dealing with the whole hospital environment. Well, the Duodenum is the first part of the small intestine. It has three parts altogether, I believe. I'm hoping that one sample will be...
  10. Thank you. I just want this to be done and over with. Now I'm afraid that the one and only sample will come up negative That will be quite upsetting. He said he'd do a pill cam if the biopsy was negative, so I should probably stay on gluten. Oh joy.
  11. So, it's finally done and over with, and it was probably the easiest thing I've ever been through. Didn't remember a thing. Anyway, the preliminary results are: Stomach: moderately severe chronic gastritis (1 biopsy taken) Duodenum: diffuse atrophic mucosa found in second portion. (And it looks like they only took one biopsy. Grrr. I go back in...
  12. Thanks, Karen. I have my endoscopy tomorrow, so I think I'll wait until those results are back as well and then just pick them all up at one time. I'll call a day ahead, though. Give them some time to print them out or whatever.
  13. I better go pick up a copy of my test results for the Celiac panel I had done then. They said everything looked fine, but now I want to see for myself. Did you just show up there and ask for the results, or do they need some time to get them ready for you?
  14. You're so lucky that it's over! Mine's not until the 30th. Did the procedure go smoothly for you? I'm hoping they find something or I'll have to stay on gluten since he wants to do the pill cam if the biopsies are negative.
