  1. Awesome! I added those to my recipe box. I love how you can save them all right there on the website. Did the sugar cookies taste more like little cakes instead? I noticed they're using the yellow cake mix.
  2. Haha. Well, it's the in-laws turn to have family out for Christmas this year, and that's about the only reason we're going up. I lived there for three years and still own a home in Junction City. Needless to say, I was happy to move away from the snow and tornadoes!
  3. Yes, they are going right into a fridge upon arrival. I think they'll be fine, too. I didn't even consider the cooler weather. That should help. I'll have to take my chances either way. Can't imagine being around the gluten filled goodies all day and not having something sweet for myself. I'm such a sugar addict! Thank you for the prayers! I'm...
  4. We're driving up to Kansas for the holidays and I'd like to take some frozen donuts, maybe some bread as well. How long can they be left out of the freezer?? Are they really that perishable? The drive will take a good seven hours before we reach the hotel and a fridge/freezer. I really don't want to pack an ice chest. Space is limited in the car as it...
  5. Do you do anything different from what the recipe calls for?? My Bisquick pancake tasted like a fluffy potato And my Bob's Red Mill pancake tasted like a gummy bean-flavored bread. (I used the all-purpose flour.) I can do without breads and stuff, but I really like my pancakes. If I can perfect just one recipe, I'd be ecstatic.
  6. I was also wondering how Kpryan was doing.....
  7. Thanks for clearing up the confusion with Cass's post, Skylark. I still have a ton to learn about all of this. For now, I'll do my best to stick to a strict gluten free diet. I certainly don't want to be sick, anxious, or foggy-brained while visiting family for Christmas. After that, I may or may not try getting the Celiac panel done after a challenge...
  8. The Betty Crocker gluten-free brownies and cake mixes are really good. On their website, they have a bunch of recipes you can make with the mixes to change things up a bit. I'm trying the mint grasshopper bars this weekend, using the devil's food mix.
  9. Pamela's Chunky Chocolate Chip cookies are awesome. I also like Katz's sprinkled sugar cookies. In fact, I like those more than most gluten-filled cookies.
  10. Brilliant explanation! Thank you for taking the time to go into detail on the issue, which I'm sure many others will find useful, too. I need to print this out for others to read. I also suffer from three of those you listed. I would love to see them go away on a gluten-free diet. I'm assuming it might take a while. The severe social anxiety makes...
  11. That sounds like a very interesting theory. They ought to do a study on that and see if it holds true. Good point. With the holidays right around the corner, I just feel they'll give me a hard time because it's not a Celiac diagnosis. I'll be going to the in-laws this year, so that makes it more stressful. I don't want to suffer any damage...
  12. This is what has me so confused. I just got my results back from Enterolab yesterday. I had an anti-gliadin IGA test done. Anything over a "10" is positive for gluten intolerance. My number was "49." I know some don't believe in using that particular lab for various reasons, but I'm fine with it. It only backs up my symptoms and my reaction to a gluten-free...
  13. I received this response from them in September: Thanks for contacting Olay, Jaymie. We want to give you clear information regarding the use of our beauty care products. If wheat and/or gluten aren't directly added to a product by us, these ingredients won't be listed on our packages. Like many companies, we often purchase the scents for fragranced products...
  14. That's okay, Shopgirl, my husband had plenty of jokes and laughs the first day I received the kit from the lab. There is an instruction sheet included, but it doesn't get that specific, about when to put it in the drop box. It just says drop it off on the day you want to ship back. I guess I'll push it back as late as I can. Don't want to miss the UPS truck...
  15. I ordered a gluten sensitivity test from Enterolab and am ready to ship a sample back, but I have a question for those who have done it before. Is it okay for a stool specimen to be in the UPS drop box from morning until it gets picked up? That would probably be around 5pm in my area. I just don't want to mess up the test, because they are expensive.
  16. What a bummer. It's on the menu for tomorrow night. Good thing I have plenty of cheddar cheese to toss in there.
  17. I just picked up the cheesy hashbrowns yesterday. I can't wait to try it out. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I see new gluten-free items on the shelves.
  18. I've been gluten free for three weeks now and intitially my bloating got much better, but just this last week it's gotten bad again. I think it may be fructose malabsorption. I did without fruits and fructose-heavy foods yesterday and my stomach's already gone down considerably. I'm going to try it again today and see what happens. But it might be something...
  19. I wish they'd just use dedicated lines. I was always a huge fan of the Brach's mellowcreme pumpkins that come out each year. I'm tempted to just try them and see what happens. Anyone else eat them without a problem?
  20. I hope your daughter feels better soon. What a scary thing to be going through while pregnant. Our walmart here carries a number of gluten-free items, so she can check and see if hers does as well. They aren't things I noticed before until I went gluten-free. Ours has pasta, spaghetti sauces, Bisquick mix, cake mixes, Pamela's cookies, and other things. ...
  21. On October 1st, I started a month long fast from all gluten, so maybe the first of November I'll try something other than pizza to do a second self-test, just to see. I don't think it was the cheese, though, because I eat 1/4 cup or more of it everyday and I've been fine since starting the fast. I also eat a cup of Greek Yogurt without trouble. I'm a little...
  22. Thank you for the replies. Kpryan, now I'm really curious what your test results will be since we share the same symptoms. An endoscopy sounds really scary to me. I hope all goes well for you. Kathy, thanks for sharing your story about your parents and coworkers. That's exactly what I wanted to know. None of them seemed to have a reaction when going...
  23. Hello. I'm new to posting here, but I've been reading the forums for the last three or four weeks now. Growing up, I've always gotten stomachaches after eating meals, not all of them, but most. My parents and doctor chalked that up to anxiety and Pepto Bismol became my best friend from then on. Up until a few weeks ago, when I started a gluten-free diet,...
