Gluten Glutton's Achievements

  1. I'm not even going to try and interpret genetic testing results because I know so very little about them, but I will say that I started a thread here last night about not knowing whether or not I have a gluten intolerance or celiac because I was never tested before going gluten-free, but that I feel so much better off the gluten. The responses I'm reading...
  2. I the dark patches in most of the places consisted with insulin resistance. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my mid-20's and the two run together, so I'm not surprised. I've always suspected I had some kind of insulin resistance along with the PCOS but my blood levels have always come out in the normal range. I haven't really checked to see if they're fading...
  3. I've have the same thing. I don't know if my stomach rumbling came on more after the diagnosis, or if I was just more aware of it happening. Either way, it's starting to get better now. My body likes its nutrients, I guess!
  4. I went gluten-free in October 2010 before having any testing done. In the area I live in, getting in to see a specialist can take months for something that is considered non-urgent (the waiting lists are long in certain specialties) and I didn't feel I could wait. My body literally felt like it was shutting down. I had so many classic celiac signs and vitamin...
  5. It's so nice to hear that you're mostly feeling better! I've been gluten-free for about three months. I had many classic celiac symptoms, including bowl/digestive issues, joint paint, anxiety and depression, to name a few. The first week was really tough; I was okay for a day or two, but then the aches came on strong. My body was wracked by these sharp...
  6. Hi Lisa, I'm not a diagnosed celiac, but I am at the very least gluten-intolerant. Tummy rumbling was one of my symptoms. Towards the end, it got very loud and very regular. I've been gluten-free for three months now and would say I only get roughly 10% of the rumbling I used to. All the best, Amanda
  7. Thanks so much for the replies! It's good to get feedback from people in the know. I find it incredibly frustrating when I'm met with doubt from friends and family on this issue. It's apparent to everyone in my support circle what a turnaround has taken place in my physical and mental health since going gluten-free. Yet, I've been told twice now that...
  8. I've only been gluten-free for three months, and am currently dealing with my first glutened experience. Fun times! I just found out the cereal I've been eating now has "natural malt flavour" at the very bottom of the ingredients list. Oops. I swear it didn't the first time I read the ingredients and that they added it in between the first and second...
  9. The anxiety is a tough one, isn't it? I've only been gluten-free for about three months now, but I started taking a supplement for my adrenal glands at the urging of a naturopath about a month ago. I've had a great deal of stress in my life (who hasn't?) and some definite adrenal issues as a result, including a fair bit of anxiety. While a lot of the anxiety...
  10. Hi everyone, I'm self-diagnosed as gluten-intolerant but am pretty sure I have full-blown celiac based on my symptoms. I was never tested because I stopped eating gluten as a "let's see what happens" and couldn't bring myself to go back after many positive, drastic changes took place. My issues flared up very badly right after a couple of stressful years...
  11. Thanks so much for this topic. I'm glad to have found it Our now four-year-old son had Kawasaki Disease in August 2009 and was treated on day 6 with IVIG. He's had no lasting complications and his heart looks good (thank goodness!). However, he's now showing symptoms of celiac, so we're going to have him tested ASAP. I may also have celiac - and at...
  12. This is my first post. I'm finally coming out of lurk mode! I've been gluten-free since mid-October - a whopping 11 weeks. I had the hip pain and always thought it was due to carrying and birthing three 10lb babies (not all at once! ). I didn't realize it until now, but I've only had it once since going gluten-free. The rash on my hands that ends up...
