  1. Do you have a Wild Oats grocery store by you? They sell a tub of gluten-free chocolate chip cookies that is excellent. My picky husband said they are some of the best cookies he's ever had, including non-gluten-free regular ones.
  2. Sorry celiac3270! I knew I was taking a gamble there but wasn't sure. I thought perhaps Peterson could be a maiden name and King a married name. Thought I'd go for it and assume away...but was wrong. Gotta give the male celiacs their respect
  3. Thanks! You ladies are always a great resource. I appreciate it! Miracle Whip here I come ....
  4. Hey all-- I need a little help here. Once again, the vinegar debate... Depending on what I read, some say items like A1 and miracle whip are okay b/c they are made with distilled vinegar. But I have found other sources that say do not eat either period-distilled or not b/c of gluten. What do you think??
  5. Thanks for the info ladies... Here is one more for you: Post Honey Comb. What do you think? I believe its a Kraft brand, and has no wheat, barley, rye, just corn/oat flour. I saw it on a gluten-free list somewhere. Do any of you eat it? It seems a little shady to me since it belongs to a gluten-full cereal producing company And where you are...
  6. Hi ! I will be going to Chicago next weekend with my family... hanging out downtown and eating dinner, as well as staying up north in Woodfield mall area. Does anyone know of any gluten-free restaurants in either area? Thank you!!
  7. Hi there! Question-How anal are you all about the following ingredients--natural/artificial flavorings and caramel coloring? I have been checking on them so far with manufacturers... Do you always check? If so, have you found that typically they are okay? Thanks!
  8. I was not able to up my iron with pills and had an iron infusion--basically you sit with an iv in your arm, pumping you full of iron for 4 to 6 hours. This is always an option if you are not able to absorb or maintain levels with pills/foods etc. this procedure is done by a hematologist.
  9. Laura - Do you like the Palm software from the Clan Thompson site? I had downloaded the demo to check it out...
  10. Thanks for the encouragement ladies! It is my impression that you are on your own with this diagnosis. But who better to be the experts than us I guess! I look forward to talking with you more in the future...
  11. Here's a question for all you veterans-- I was recently diagnosed with Celiac. Have you found that you are pretty much on your own or do you suggest finding a GI doc or a nutritionist to work with long term? My impression of my GI doc is that he doesn't have too much to offer me. Besides the obvious change in diet, do you go back to have your blood tested...
  12. Hi all... I was just diagnosed with Celiac disease and am trying to find a gi doc (or otherwise) who really has experience and an interest in Celiac. Does anyone know of a doctor? I would appreciate any help. My current doctor is lackadaisical about it at best. Thanks so much !!
