  1. Sometimes the glaze may contain high fructose which many with gluten intolerance cannot tolerate well.
  2. oh this sounds great - hoping I can find it in a store near me!
  3. I have used Splenda for years and never thought much about it - until the day before yesterday. I had a bad flare up and decided to lay low on most foods - ate little, drank decafinated tea (with splenda), and was hoping to ride through this in a day or two. But each time I drank a cup of tea, I started to feel worse and worse. The next day I stopped using...
  4. Do you use probiotics and if so, do you find they help? Which probiotic works for you?
  5. Check to see if it says high fructose on the ingredients. I know many are highly sensitive to fructose or high fructose.
  6. I think so. On one of the diets I read about food combining - it said to never eat a protein with a starch. For example, if you had rice with meat or egg - you might end up with a problem. But, if you ate the rice alone - or with vegetables rather than meat - you might not get a bad reaction - why not try and see?
  7. I think these sensitivies in many of us are temporary due to the inflamation that has been caused. Hopefully with healing, these sensitivities will subside. I know I never had any problems with any foods until my very first flare up. Before that, I thought all was well - the only thing I ever had a problem with was too much cafeine - hoping my body at...
  8. It is so frustrating playing detective all the time There are so many variables - not only which food - but which combinations. I tried keeping a food diary of what foods I have problems with - but I have noticed that if I eat the offending food minus another food - then it is not that food but the combination of digesting two foods. It is so frustrating...
  9. Quite right there is no soy but some of the ingredients are Xanthan Gum, Tapioca Starch, Corn Syrup, Eggs and ascorbic acid
  10. Again, I know this is individualized - because tolerance is different from person to person. I found an article that said to eat fruit, vegetables, etc. Some articles said which fruits and vegetables to avoid - but, of course, the information was totally different from one article to another. Now, foolish me - I said, okay - grapefruit was listed...
  11. Actually it's now about a month - so I guess I have a long haul ahead
  12. I have no problem with the Udi's sandwich bread - but yesterday, I tried their bagels - and that did make me feel pretty terrible.
  13. Thanks so much for the explanation! Last night I spent hours reading up on Leaky Gut Syndrome and thought maybe that it what was happening - but after awhile, when you play detective for so long with no real answers, you get sort of frazzled really wondering what is going on with your body!
  14. Someone in another thread mentioned that Betty Crocker has recently changed the formula of the gluten-free brownies to add soy to the mix. Now she no longer can eat the brownies. I am wondering if maybe you may have a soy sensitivity and maybe that contributed to the reaction you had? I am not sure if soy is in the products you mentioned but you might want...
  15. Why is it that when you develop a sensitivity toward gluten that other sensitivies also happen, as well. I had never been gluten intolerant but now that I am, I find I am also having problems with soy, high fructose, potatoes, chocolate, milk products, etc. Before this, I never had a problem digesting these foods - but now everything has soooo changed....
  16. I no longer can eat rice, grains, bread with wheat, potatoes, cookies, cakes, etc. after a recent attack of what I thought was either IBS, Food Poisoning or a Gastroenteritis Virus. I had numerous tests and blood work and all came back negative. But when I eat gluten free bread I am fine - but if I eat any other starch (with gluten) I get sick. If I avoid...
  17. Wondering if anyone in the forum is from my neck of the woods.....
  18. How can you tell if gluten is an ingredient. What other terminology might be used to mean gluten?
  19. I have to concur. The product is indeed gluten free - unfortunately soy has been added - I guess now it won't work for those soy sensitive. Too bad those of us with food sensitivities always have to check labels - but as seen with this, it is imperative.
  20. My symptoms are mainly diarrhea, stomach gurgling, stomach ache (until I go to the bathroom) and sometime nausea. All of mine seem to be digestive related.
  21. Soy sauce has gluten - unless you specifically use a gluten-free soy sauce - that could be why you were sick.
  22. OMG - I was so skeptical with these - but I did find them and bought two boxes of mix just in case I liked them - although I was skeptical. Well, I am soooo glad I have two on hand! This is the first really sweet thing I have had in a long time - and woo hoo I loved them! My husband won't give them a try no matter how much I tell him - it is good! Oh...
  23. What other intolerances do you find you have when you have a sensitive intestinal track? I find now that I have trouble with almonds, sometimes chocolate (even if it is gluten free), carrots, potatoes of all kinds, and fructose and high fructose. Are these sensitivites somehow related - when you find you now have one - that others follow? What sources...
  24. thanks for your answers. Funny, my gastroenteroloist thinks because my tests came back "normal" everything is okay. He is pushing for a colonoscopy without ever mentioning endoscopy. Now I do realize that an endoscopy is necessary but even that might not always show positive if I have not been ingesting gluten. I would hate to have to forgo all my hard...
  25. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis too. Had it for years - never need thyroid replacement though until I hit my thirties. Even to this day, I take a moderate dose. Always had constipation issues as a child and teenager - but I do not think when I was that young that people even attributed it to anything but not eating enough ruffage or vegetables.
