About Me

I'm married and the mother of 2 boys. I just went back to substitute teaching after being a stay at home mom for the better part of 10 years.

I'm not officially diagnosed with celiac yet. I've had skin issues for 8 years that recently got worse and brought me to the doctor. The more I read, the more I'm convinced that I have celiac disease. GI symptoms aren't horrible, but I'm realizing they aren't "normal." Unbeknownst to me when I went to the doctor, my brother recently went gluten-free, and has a gene for celiac. I have so many other possible symptoms, but my skin is by far my biggest issue right now.

  1. It would also be easier to control his diet and get him used to it at a younger age.
  2. They biopsied the lesion itself AND the skin next to it.

    ARCHIVED Lichen Sclerosis

I turned 38 yesterday, and was diagnosed with LS about 5 years ago. My mother was just diagnosed with it maybe 2 years ago shorly after she had a hysterectomy. She was fine until her surgery. If I remember correctly, I think I suggested she may have LS.

    ARCHIVED Lichen Sclerosis

I was only gluten-free for 2 weeks. I am still in limbo over the whole celiac disease thing. I actually have some allergy testing scheduled for next week. After that, I will work more on diagnosising or ruling out celiac disease.

    ARCHIVED Puffiness

Hmmmm. I'm not diagnosed with celiac. At least not yet. Since about May, I have had like a double bag under 1 eye. My eye doctor prescribed some meds that never helped. It is on the side I sleep on. It was really bad and puffy when it first started, but never went away.
  6. They sell those in Wegmans in NJ. Though I haven't seen all those varieties!
  7. It's over a 5 day period. I'd have to go to the doctor Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Not looking forward to the process, but hoping I'll get some answers.
  8. My biopsy for dh came back negative. (I am still questioning my negative celiac disease results, and am planning to further investigate.) I gather many of you have gone through allergy patch testing in search of a reason for your rashes. Just looking for experiences. What things did they test you for and how bad was the process? Were you able to...
  9. Again.. Me= undiagnosed and still on a regular diet... with chicken skin. Next week I go for patch testing, then onto further investigation into celiac.
  10. This is kind of weird. I hope no one takes offense to this, but I see the tendency for people to blame EVERYTHING on celiac disease. However, I too have had hip pain for about a year and half. It seemed better for awhile. (Maybe 3 months ?) I am one of those in limbo, undiagnosed, currently on a "regular" diet. I have been having tons of gluten during...

    ARCHIVED Lies?

Don't buy it. He can't use it as an excuse for everything.
  12. Itchy~ Are you officially diagnosed? According to my derm, my results were negative, but she could not explain my raised ttg Igg. They had also told me before the biopsy that my rash wasn't very active and they weren't sure what the resulst would be. So, I am currently in limbo. I'm going in for patch tests next week. As far as celiac goes, I'm waiting...
  13. I agree with what most said about just being gracious. I just wanted to add that if she suddenly realizes and apologizes, please do your best not to make her feel bad. Maybe something like, "Oh, don't give it a 2nd thought. I shared it with my kids/neighbors. They loved it. It was so nice of you to think of me and I couldn't possibly expect everyone...
