  1. Yes, several is a matter of fact. My all time favorite is "Food Shouldn't Be This Good" Lime Tortilla's. Yummy with peach mango salsa.
  2. This disease is very serious. There are other diseases that arise from this disease that are very serious including cancer. It is not something to play around with because you are literally playing with your life. My family was the worst about it than anybody. They seem to think it is a new fad and when I make gluten free food to take to a family event they...
  3. I have never understood these family members who just refuse to "get it." So you have to root in and "get it". I have even refused to go out with my family if they do not support me and my disease. I always ask them, "If I was a diabetic would you be continually trying to get me to eat sugar?" I also show them the stats about the underlying diseases this...
  4. If you got your chicken already cooked at the grocery it may have wheat in it. Kroger's cooked chicken in the deli has wheat. I have only found cooked chicken with seasonings at Safeway and Costco. If your fish was seasoned or if you bought it in a bag there might be wheat in the seasoning or floured to keep it from sticking together. It's everywhere and...
  5. Did they biopsy your small bowel? Plus I heard there are a lot of false negatives and you could be gluten intolerant; not celiac. Please get more information before you take that as the final word. The damage that gluten does for folks with disease is horrible. Make sure you are not one of the statistics.
  6. Yes I have like symptoms when I have dairy. Is a matter of fact I thought that it was lactose intolerance I had when my Celiac became full blown. Four months later I am able to eat hard cheeses by taking Lactaid.
  7. My kitchen is mixed. I sanitize everything before I prepare my gluten free food. I have the cupboards and frige sectioned off. Nobody wants to make me sick again because they thought I was going to die when I was sick so they respect my space. They bother me to no end though because they will eat my expensive gluten free food and complain about it rather...
  8. First of all how long have you been gluten free? I started on September 25, 2010 and I am just now noticing another big improvement. It is baby steps. I still have problems and I still have the cursed AM mucus. Second, check your cosmetics. I figured out a product I have used for quite a long time had wheat in it and I noticed a difference when I stopped...
  9. Some people on this site have said they couldn't eat canned beans until after they were gluten free for quite some time. They had to make their beans from scratch. I've had horrible problems with canned beans so the next time I will just make my own and add vinegar to take some of the gas effects away. It is probably better anyway.
  10. I totally feel your pain. I went gluten free since 09/25/10. I was 150% better within 24 hours but once I got off gluten and hidden gluten I'm finding the same thing as you with the AM thing and it is making me crazy. I have horrible insurance but I broke down and saw an internist who did tests for malasorption, liver & pancreas. The results were "perfect...
  11. There is no way on the face of the planet I would ever eat gluten again for any reason. And I am glad I ended up diagnosing myself. I became seriously ill a year ago and started looking online because I couldn't figure out what was happening to me. I would get better when I only ate salads and lemon juice, vegetables and salt, fruit and fruit juices and occasionally...
  12. I forgot to say that I know exactly what you are feeling about finding out that you are gluten intolerant. For me I was self diagnosed after months of being really sick. I decided to "try" gluten free just to see and I was 150% better within 24 hours so I NEVER wanted to go back but there are times when I still have a lot of grief regarding what and how I...
  13. It is really difficult. I have not been able to find decent salad dressings that don't contain soy or canola. I have as difficult time with canola as I do soy. I end up making my own salad dressings. The net is filled with a lot of recipes. I also use less oil and substitute with apple juice or pear juice if I want it sweeter. Ruffles don't have soy or gluten...
