  1. Thanks so much So peanut butter is safe?
  2. Thanks Darn! Ya, my biggest concern right now is protein... I think I might just hard boil some eggs...but the foreman grill is a good idea (even though we're not supposed to have them!) Right now, I am living off fruit basically...which for someone who usually eats a lot...I feel like this might make me more sick than if I was eating gluten...but hopefully...
  3. To add to that, I am pretty skinny (135 and 5'8") and I eat ALOT (but never gain weight)...I am really worried about not having enough food to eat...i.e. protein and such. I live in dormitories and don't have the means to cook meat or anything. So I would appreciate any input on that as well.
  4. Thanks for the responses , Aerina, like I said, I'm at college....I don't know if there is any way (starting out) I will be able to be that critical...I know I probably have to...but if that's the case bananas and apples will be all I can eat. I'm paying for a meal plan and definitely cannot afford buying my own food on top of that. Is there a cheap, simple...
  5. I am starting tonight...so please keep me in your thoughts! (really need this to work) I go to school right now. Would it be OK to eat vegetables from a salad bar type setup or would there be cross contamination? I have a meal plan and I am having a very hard time figuring out how I am going to be able to eat... As far as nuts go, are regular salted nuts...
  6. I was planning on waiting until the 2 weeks he recommended was up. But my doc did know that my plan after that was to start the diet. He also said that if things don't improve or get worse to stop the medication, and 3 out of the 5 days I've been on it have been pretty bad. So I'm thinking about just stopping tomorrow and starting the diet Monday.
  7. I just don't want to go against what my doc is advising...I mean, I've waited this long. I don't want to have to repeat or backtrack if gluten isn't the problem...
  8. Thanks for the response! so your suggestion would be to finish up the drugs I was recommended before starting?
  9. All my bloodwork has been negative, and instead of wasting more time I've decided to just start the diet. (I believe it will help either way) I have a few questions before I start, and I apologize if they are redundant... First of all, I have had strange headaches (almost daily for years now) and on Tuesday my doctor put me on a low dosage of amitriptyline...
  10. Thanks again guys...this is all very encouraging!
  11. IrishHeart, that is so encouraging! And sounds exactly like how I feel! (but it sounds like it was longer for you) Honestly, the one thing pushing me through right now is my amazement at how I can do things (and sometimes even well) without having any energy or even real sense of what's going on! So if I can do well now, who knows what I could do healthy...
  12. I can usually function fine. It's almost like I can do things but don't really know how I did them after they are done. I am in college (my last year) and have been able to keep up in class...but it is just so scary. Mine is all the time and I feel like I'm a little drunk...or getting a fever...or something. It's so hard to explain. I'm just losing hope...
  13. One of my scariest and worst (in my opinion) symptoms is this "brain fog". I have had it for about 4 months that I can remember. I was just curious how other people describe it...also, is all day 24/7 or sporadic? (mine has been constant...not a single minute of let up) My blood test came back negative but they are trying to do a little more testing before...
  14. It's cool to read how through just being their for their spouse, etc...other symptoms in "non-celiac" people went away...that is very interesting and very promising for someone like me! (negative blood work, still trying to get some tests before going gluten free) Almost seems like gluten could affect most people in some way...hmm
  15. Hmmm...not sure if that's what it is. I'm thinking maybe a symptom from being stressed about all the other symptoms...I think I'll bring it up to my doctor tomorrow
  16. Im not diagnosed with celiac or gluten intolerance...but bloodwork came back negative last week, moving forward with a GI (hopefully) this week...then either way Im going to go on the diet. I am praying I have at least gluten intolerance (to explain all my other symptoms) and was just curious if this could be part of that...
  17. Thanks guys. I have had my thyroid checked and recently a full physical... It's just very weird. Doesn't exactly feel like a muscle, but it definitely isn't like a soar throat. And it's just a quick shooting pain...happens randomly throughout the day, usually after I swallow. My doctor has just been very sympathetic with me so far (even after months of...
  18. I'm afraid to even ask my doctor in fear he'll just think I'm making it up...but I starting getting this really strange feeling in my lower throat/upper lungs (not exactly sure) but it's a random sharp pain every once in a while...almost like when you swallow something to big. Its not my throat itself...maybe the muscle. Just curious if anyone has had anything...
  19. Thanks again everybody! It's just so hard to get your hopes up...it can be very dangerous! And I have not given up yet. I actually gave my doc the list of tests that was recommended on this board...but he said there was a new, "all inclusive" test...I think it was the IGA levels, not 100% sure. When I see him on tuesday, I am going to see how long going...
  20. Thanks guys... My doctor is really pushing to do more with a GI...and my parents also want that. I just want to start the diet and figure out if this is it once for all. I see him again tuesday, I guess I'll see what he says. Thanks again! (half the reason Im hoping gluten is the problem is how amazing, encouraging, and helpful this site is!)
  21. I hate to rant here, but I am almost devastated right now...and I just need somewhere to vent :/ I got hopes way too high and got my blood work back today...normal. He did the "all inclusive" test and my level was 4 when "somewhat intolerant" was over 20... I dont know what to think. I know there are false negatives, but Im just at the bottom right now...
  22. Ya, I was thinking about seeing what the blood said and then going gluten free either way. Im 21 and in school, and my dad is very adamant about me doing everything I can to figure this out...to the point where it can become too much. He wants me to get the biopsy either way...just need to convince him it might not be necessary or helpful... Thanks for...
  23. I talked to my doctor today and he will be doing the celiac panel on Friday (thank god). My symptoms are not exactly gastrointestinal (slightly, but more related to headaches, brain fog, etc) My question is, should I/can I try to get a biopsy done even if the blood work is negative? Either way I want to try gluten free. Just wanted to get some feedback...
  24. thanks for the reply! ya, I go back to school tomorrow, so next week I am going to get a referral for a gastroenterologist... That brings me to another question, can my primary doctor do the testing or no? A lot of symptoms are non-digestive. Should I still go to a gastroenterologist? Thanks so much for your help. I really hope this is my problem.
