  1. Well. Here's the update, and I didn't like it one bit! I spent a total of 15 minutes with the "specialist" yesterday. He poked and prodded my abdomen for about 1 minute, took my blood pressure and told me I am to stop everything and take the Imodium (which I told him doesn't work for me at all). This includes the probiotics. He insists I am getting...
  2. Now that you mention it, no. I never imagined I would ever be discussing my poop condition with anyone, least of all on the internet I received a call today from the office of a gastroenterologist. It appears my GP called and begged for me to have an appointment with him and lo and behold I have one for tomorrow morning at 10. I have been taking...
  3. Thank you, Sue! I will be certain to let you know! Dee
  4. Thank you for taking the time to post your story. I have been suffering with the big D as I like to call it for a solid month... and it has been in a very BIG way. I have rarely left my home, and on the rare instances I have had to it was with a severely dehydrated body as if I drank anything well, it went right through. And through, and through, and through...
  5. Ah, Irish Heart, you dear! I must apologize for not responding sooner, btu truth be told I have been gorked out of my head on Lomotil (it really makes me sleepy!) for days and I did come one, follow your link above and read it, then back to sleep I went. I went to see my doctor on Thursday last week, but he was away and had another in his place for the...
  6. Well, everyone should be an expert at something... your area of expertise lays in poop, and i have learned I have a new talent- I can break the speed of sound making tracks for the nearest bathroom! I had a great day today. Ate a peeled apple, and that was wonderful! For supper I had a half cup of plain boiled white rice and a little less than half...
  7. I do hope you are feeling better today! Hang in there, Dee!

  8. I haven't had the baby food since Saturday, I laid off the crackers and will try the plain rice tomorrow as per my earlier post... You made me laugh with your letting loose in the pants comment, seriously I needed that laugh thank you SO much for the advice and the humor!!! Oh and I switched from Gatorade to Pedialyte and no more tea for me for a while!
  9. Thank you so much for the tip, I am going to go check into that today with the pharmacist who has been so patient with my questions! Your help is much appreciated!
  10. Holy COW... you are one wealth of information, aren't you??? Thank you thank you for it all, I have started a probiotic recommended to me by my pharmacist and it seems to have slowed things down, have been feeling better although things have not stopped yet. I started them Saturday night so haven't been on them long at all. I can't remember what I ate...
  11. I agree that we don't get enough fibre in our diets! I will certainly keep that in mind for when I can eat again LOL Thank you for the reminder and for your advice it's appreciated!
  12. I am going to the doctor this afternoon, and I will request the stool tests. My doctor is very sympathetic to my cause and generally if I ask for something like a test in particular he has no problem giving it a try. Imodium helps most of the time but I find if I take the plain Imodium I get all sorts of cramping and gas and bloating and writhe around like...
  13. Ah, labels labels... I have read them until I am cross-eyed!!! Dang things. I have gotten to where if I can't pronounce it, I don't eat it, plain and simple. Thank you for the reminder though, silly things us celiacs can't eat!!! I appreciate your help!
  14. Sorry to all for my neglect in replying sooner, I was a little under the weather and lazing around in the bathroom I did pick up the Pedialyte, and I have been drinking it faithfully. I have noticed a marked difference in my hydration, thank you for the tip! As for the color... it ranges anywhere from a lovely light tan to a medium brown. Quite similar...
  15. Good morning! I'm newer to the whole gluten-free way of life than you are by a long chalk, I was diagnosed January 25 this year. What I do when I go out is bring my own sauces in small containers. I feel like a dork when I start hauling out my goodies but on the other hand I know I am not glutening myself with unknown sources and I don't have to eat...
  16. I have had D since the 3rd of April. It doesn't matter what I eat, it doesn't matter what I drink. My diet for the past 3 days has consisted of G2 Gatorade, water, tea, rice crackers, jars of baby food bananas. If I take Imodium it helps control it but I get horrible cramps and bloating. I called the doctor and asked for Lomotil on the 14th and they called...
  17. Asickdaddy; I am so very sorry it sounds like you have just had the worst luck with your doctor. I am new here too, and although my doc was great with my diagnosis and making certain I get to see the appropriate people I am still having a terrible time adjusting to this whole Celiac thing. What I wanted to tell you is that you have come to the right...
  18. Awww you are not stupid, only learning! Almost everything you mentioned I have done too with the exception of the Average Joes, but I WAS glutened at Chili's a couple weeks ago and am still sick as the proverbial dog Don't feel bad about the slip ups, we have so much to learn and it's so overwhelming! I was diagnosed Jan. 25 and am having a terrible...
  19. Here is a link to some information on the chef who deliberately glutened people and thought it was all in our pathetic little heads... Open Original Shared Link Dee
  20. Wow, did anyone read about the chef who deliberately glutens people requesting gluten free meals because it's "all in their heads"??? Craziness... And the message going out to the general public is that Celiac disease is nothing serious. So very very sad. As it was, I was afraid to eat in restaurants. Now, I'm terrified
  21. Oh, wow...... Thank you all, for your sympathy, your caring, and sharing your stories and advice with me. I am in tears right now, this means so much! Nobody I know seems to know what I am going through. My husband just looks at me when I am curled into the fetal position with cramps and tells me it will eventually end but I see th ehelpless look...
  22. Well our cruise was a complete success, Carnival catered to my gluten free needs and did a fabulous job of it! This is the first vacation I have had in 4 years where I was not sick for even a day... way to go, crew on the Carnival Glory!!! As a previous poster mentioned, I too chose the following day's menu each night. I was brought gluten free bread each...
