  1. Thanks for the replies. Mart- when i was diagnosed with celiac disease (well I should say when the doctors suspected I had celiac disease)- I really don't think I had too many symptoms. I lost weight, I was fatigued (but I also found out in the same time that i had hypothyroidism-which can cause fatigue), I did have loose stools and abdominal pain/bloating...
  2. Is that odd? I have been gluten-free since January (well I had a few ingestions of gluten because the dumb doctor told me I wasn't celiac disease after he had told me I was celiac disease- so I ate so gluten and got sick- go figure)... Anyways- I have been very good since that time- but I don't seem to be putting on weight. My weight did maintain since January...
  3. I have this white line on my ring finger, and 2 spots on my index finger and pinkie(which are all on my left hand). I was examining my fingernails today and i also noticed that i have slight vertical ridges on my left hand fingernails, but my right hand there are no spots and really no ridges except for my thumb nail. I don't really understand what all this...

  5. Well, I think I've caught my first sickness for the year. Since this is my first time being ill and being gluten-free- I need some help. Last night (well actually a 8 hours ago) I took Tylenol severe cold and flu (the liquid form) and I fell asleep for a little while- I woke up with my heart practically pumping out of my chest. I usually have odd reactions...

  8. that's what i thought. i called Quaker in January, and they said none of their products could be considered gluten-free. I was just wondering if there was a new policy.... Darn. Thanks.

  11. I take Centrum as well, well actually I take the "chewable" version because I'm a big baby when it comes to swallowing pills. *But they are also gluten-free!!
  12. haha I feel that way about Reese's Peanut butter cups and Snickers... MMM... it's a good thing I could use a few pounds!
  13. I just bought my first cake mix to try and I think I picked the very best one! I made 'Cause you're special Lemon moist cake, and it was so good even my fiance (whom is not gluten-free) loved it! I was just wondering if anyone else has tried 'Cause You're Special products and which ones were worth trying. If you haven't tried the Lemon Moist Cake, please...
  14. when a recipe calls for oil i try to replace with applesauce. it does make the cake nice and moist!
  15. I have so many chowder recipes and sauce recipes that call for a flour roux. Would cornstarch be acceptable to use in this situation? If not, what could i use to thicken my soups?? Will it still taste yummy? Thanks! Gabby

  17. Thanks guys, that's pretty reassuring!! jenvan- Hello! Yes my surgery was not as bad as I had thought it would be-except for the fact that the doctors could not salvage my poor ovary. Besides that I am doing well, already walking about and can't wait for my recovery to be over!!! You all are wonderful, I really appreciate the support!! Gabby
  18. I realize this has nothing to do with Celiac Disease, but I am very curious if anyone has any info about chances of pregnancy for someone with only one ovary. Aug 2, I had my right ovary removed and although I am happy that the problem is gone- I am scared that my chances are very slim now. If anyone has any reassuring thoughts to share- I'd be greatful...
  19. Well going gluten-free was pretty hard and I've only found a few things that I really like. Here are the ones I can not choke down: 1. I know many people disagree but I do not like any of AMY's things. They all seemed mushy and tasteless. 2. Nana's cookies are disgusting! 3. I am not a big fan of Mrs. Leepers mixes- all of the gluten-free boxed mixes...

  22. Well, i got my results back... I don't really have a "cyst" it's called a dermoid cyst but it's actually a benign tumor. And unfortunately i can not have laparoscopic surgery because the tumor is too big, so i have to have the surgery where they make an incision at the bikini line. Unfortunately, i will not be out the same day and i will have to be off my...

I eat the Genisoy bar that is Chunky peanut butter and fudge (or something like that). It is gluten-free and mmm soo good. Plus it has 14g of soy protein/serving! I buy them by the case full.
  24. I agree... everyone does have to make their own choices. I'm almost 21, and of course i am not going to have a baby tomorrow but let's face it mistakes happen and I just want to make sure that if that would happen I would be the best "incubator" (so to speak) for a little one. I just found out that I have an ovarian cyst. I'm a little worried...Cgilsing...
