  1. Since i am new to this (gluten-free lifestyle) I am not really sure what i can and can not do (besides diet). I read in a book that most celiacs or gluten intolerants- should not be wary of items (like lotions, shampoos, etc). Since I've been coming here i've been reading differently... So do those items effect some celiacs and not all? I use apricot scrub...
  2. I'm a salsa FANatic!!! If you live on the Eastern side of the states, there is a wonderful salsa called Green Mountain Gringo, made in Vermont. Their salsa is gluten free and very fresh. It's wonderful. I don't know if you can find it in CA, but if you see it give it a try! Stay Healthy! gab
  3. I'm really missing regular wheat bread and I just wanted to know if anyone knows of any really yummy gluten-free breads/pastas. Some of the ones I've tried have been not so appetizing. Help!
  4. Shirley- I have horrible Sinusitis and usually i take a decongestant- but if its really horrible sometimes i make a homemade vaporizer. i boil water and hold my head over the boiling water with a towel over my head to trap the steam. This helps me- sometimes, i also find ease taking a very hot bath or shower and the humidity helps me breathe. Best of luck...
  5. Hi Meghan!! I'm also new to the gluten-free lifestyle, and I just want to tell you that it may seem hard at first, but it gets easier. There are still so many good things you can enjoy, but you must be open to try different things (that was my problem!! I just wanted a pb and jelly on wheat toast!) I hope you start to feel better soon, just as i have...
  6. YankeeDB- Thanks for posting this question- Im also fairly new to this, and was wondering the same thing!!
  7. Thank you for the replies. But the reason I am so confused is because my family doctor gave me a blood test (ANA screen?) and that came back positive- with that he said that I had Celiac disease. I had no idea what it was or what i had to do- so they told me to be on a gluten-free diet until i could see a GI doctor- This was in January. I just got my Sprue...

  10. i can say that since i've been following a gluten-free diet that i have had some awful nightmares, to the extreme you are. I always have them closer to the morning hours, but they keep me awake and make the rest of my day awful. I don't know why i have these, or why you do either... i never thought they were because of a gluten-free diet... maybe you're on...

  15. I understand completely and i feel for you. Before I was gluten-free, I lost 20 pounds and my doctors would not believe that I was not anorexic or bullemic. At my lowest i was 102 pounds and no matter what i said, or how i told them i felt they did not want to believe that there might be something seriously wrong with me. Until, I stood up to them and told...
  16. I have lost 20 pounds since last year and my doctors assumed that perhaps i had a gluten intolerance. Since December '04 i've had multiple blood test, that no one will explain to me- all they told me was that a test came back positive and i should condsider a gluten-free lifestyle. I finally went to a GI dr. and he gave me a sprue panel test, and i am awaiting...
  17. I was diagnosed in january with Celiac disease, and i am 20 years old. I've been reading up on the disease, and everywhere i read it says "trouble with pregnancy" or "difficulties getting pregnant"... that frightens me so terribly because i desperately want to become a mommy some day. I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me from their experience or knows...
