I am either gluten intolerant or have Celiac's. basically the doctor could not give me a definitive answer. regardless, gluten makes me lethargic at times...that being said I am almost 5 months pregnant and have found myself eating gluten a lot more than I normally would. I feel that it isnt effecting me as it did before...so stupidly, I grab gluten stuff...

Initially I lost 40 lbs...now I am 220 lbs and need to lose 60 more lbs. I feel that I dont eat much, I have cut out potatoes and corn considerably. I have been active but still my stomach is like a pigs. It drives me crazy and makes me so depressed. I eat a lot of fish, some nuts and fruits and veggies... I know I need to eat more veggies and exercise...

I start my new job Wednesday and my boss will be taking me out to lunch. I dont really trust anything at a restaurant unless it is a salad so I am sure that is what I will order. Seeing how I cant have dairy or gluten I dont want her to think that I am just some pain in the *** person who is super picky. Do you tell people right away about your Celiacs...

Lately, I have been binging on cheese even though I cant have dairy and pretzel rolls and other tasty gluten filled breads. I feel like I am out of control. I know this is harming my body but I cant stop. I was only diagnosed a few months ago and in the beginning I was really careful but now I think I am just so angry that I dont care anymore. What is...

ARCHIVED New To This And Need Advice, Thanks!
jemms replied to RetroGirlChicago's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Keep the appointment. I am in the Chicago West Suburbs and was thinking of going to U of C but my insurance is nil. I have emailed them and they are super helpful. Definitely take advantage of the center and keep us posted. Also, you need to be an advocate for yourself...try not to listen to naysayers who cloud what you know you need to do for your own... -

I am having extreme cases of itchiness right now...unbearable. It started on my ankles and I thought they were bug bites but they have moved to my stomach and forearms. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and it has been a transition to say the least so the other day I binged on pizza and other gluten crap which was stupid, I know. What correlation does...

ARCHIVED Lost 4 Pounds Since Going Gluten-Free
jemms replied to CruiseWriter's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree with you! I dont look forward to eating anymore. In a sense it is good for me because I was consumed with food before all this. Now it is eating whatever I can to make sure I get the most nutrients possible. Not much fun anymore...and at times I do get anxious as well because I worry about CC so in that case I sometimes just go without eating... -
I have been off gluten since May 19th. I have felt okay but yesterday I freaked out. At night, I had a HORRIBLE panic attack and it lasted for about an hour. Basically, my heart was racing, my blood pressure went up, I felt like I was going to die and couldnt deal with people coming near me. It was very frightening. I still feel weird tonight even though...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done Major Home Renovations Post gluten-free?
jemms replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since you are not ingesting the home improvement products I think you will be okay by wearing a mask and gloves as well as pants and a long sleeve shirt. This will inhibit the dust and any of the product from being ingested. -
I have lost about 30 lbs in the last 6 months due to diarrhea and basically the g.i. problems I have had...I have about 50 lbs more to go before I am where I should be. I felt like for many years I wasnt eating much and still putting on weight. I have read that being intolerant to wheat and such can do this. Since being off gluten I have lost about 7 lbs...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done Major Home Renovations Post gluten-free?
jemms replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would definitely wear a mask and make sure you are working in a well ventilated area. Also, for areas that you feel are making your symptoms worse perhaps you can hire someone to do the major damage control and then you can take it from there. you are smart to stay away from the mold, that is so problematic for everyone, not just those with gluten problems... -

ARCHIVED Frustrated Over Biopsy
jemms posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I finally got my results back...Doctor says that biopsy came back negative but he still thinks I have Celiacs based on my bloodwork. I never stopped eating gluten for the test. Now that I am off gluten I feel so much better. Still have some fatigue but my stomach issues have subsided. I dont eat any gluten, casein or dairy products and feel A LOT better... -
ravenwood, I need to get organized and bring food or call ahead. Love your positive attitude!! Getting healthy is THE best revenge!

Thank you!! I had blood tests done but for some people they are so ignorant it just doesnt matter. I will keep in mind to use the term 'allergy'. I agree, I think that resonates with others better. sometimes I just dont want to fight the battle, ya know? Eyes glaze over when I try to explain about Celiacs...haha A Although the bit about this is something...
