  1. Hi, Left side abdominal and back pain is most often associated with the colon, or the tube through which stool leaves the body. For me, when I am either severly constipated or have diarhea from having to take laxatives to relieve the constipation, this side hurts. My doctor said it is from my muscles trying to contract to push the stool through my system...
  2. Hi, I just read your post, and you are not alone! I too, don't really suffer much from GI symptoms, but I get severely emotional. I mean, REALLY bad. Some days I get so angry that I really throw things and I can flip at the drop of a hat. The thing is, I am not normally like this, and I only started suffering from things like this since my celiac disease...
  3. I also had an issue with antibodies showing up while being on a gluten-free diet. My doctor and his nurse have been doing research and have recently put together another panel of blood tests for celiac. They are going to be testing me for more antibodies, including the TtG test. When I asked him if the results would be affected by being gluten-free, he...
  4. That sounds great! Thanks!
  5. To Jenvan, I am looking for a salty recipe Rmmadden, Thanks so much for your response. I will give it a try and let you know how it comes out! I hope this will satisfy my craving! -Peaches
  6. I have been dying for some macaroni salad, except I'm not sure which kind of gluten-free pasta would be best to use for this. Anyone have any ideas or recipes? Thanks! -Peaches
  7. Antmimi, Many hugs for you! My thoughts and prayers are with you. I truly hope things get better for you soon! Hang in there, and things will get better! -Peaches
  8. Just to add to the discussion about vitamins. . . I know that vitamins can turn your urine bright yellow, and they can also turn it green. This is because the vitamins react with certain things that are already in your system, i.e. Iron. So, if you have funny-colored urine, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's more than likely from the vitamins. ...
  9. Hey all, I just had some interesting information about oats that you might be interested in. I recently joined my local celiac support group, which is associated with the National Celiac Disease Foundation. When I questioned the representative about oats, this is what she replied, keep in mind, she has had celiac disease since 1991 and is very educated...
  10. I felt the same way after I went gluten-free. I noticed that I actually felt generally worse, with worse symptoms after going gluten-free. It's been almost 2 months for me, and I'm just starting to notice changes, so hang in there! We're here for support. -Peaches
  11. Hey celiac3270, I'd love a copy of that list too, if possible! Peaches503@aol.com Thanks!
  12. As far as I know, there is a difference between celiac disease and a gluten intolerance, though they are treated the same way, as somebody mentioned before. My doctor told me that (as I am still going through more testing) I may not have full-blown celiac disease, but definitely have at least a gluten intolerance. -Peaches
  13. I also have not had Enterolabs tests done, but I think that is the test that my doctor is ordering for me. If he feels it's worth using Enterolab to test me, then there must be something to be said about the accuracy, reliability, and quality of these tests. . .
  14. I'm not sure about all Type 1 diabetics, but in my brother's case, he DOES have the gene for celiac, but he does not have celiac disease. He only has type 1 diabetes. However, it is suspected that celiac disease and Type 1 stem from the same gene. There is still research being done on this.
  15. Kaiti, I'm not sure what test he is doing. I'm assuming that he's doing the gene test, otherwise, you're right, being gluten free would definitely affect test results. I'm not going to let my doctor tell me otherwise. I'm still waiting to hear from him about what test he is going to do. Thanks for all of your responses! -Peaches
  16. Hi, Prior to getting celiac disease symptoms, my periods were always on time and were extremely, painfully heavy, and I'm a pretty small person, so I had no idea why this was happening. I only say that because my Dr. always told me that smaller people (who "bloom" later) tend to have less heavy periods. This was not true for me. However, when my periods...
  17. Hi All, I have a question. I recently asked about the tTG testing, but apparently, that is not the test that my Dr. ordered. I think I may have already had that done. I called my Dr. to ask if the test he ordered would be affected by my gluten-free diet. His NP called me and said that no, being gluten-free would not, and I trust his knowledge of this...
  18. Careful, do not misquote me. I never said that it was "purely genetic." I am aware that there are other factors "affecting" diabetes, however, from the research that I am aware of, this is the only way I have learned that diabetes may initially be acquired. For instance, what I am saying is like, you cannot pass it on unless you have direct contact with...
  19. To clear up the diabetes type 1 question, it is like celiac. You are, in fact, born with them, and they may or may not become "activated" later in life. For instance, someone may be carrying the gene for them, but never actually get the disease. I know this because I have done extensive research projects on diabetes type 1, and my sister in law does research...
  20. Hello, My Dr's wife has had celiac disease for 15 years, so he is very sensetive and educated about the issue. He's not pushing for a biopsy at all. He definitely feels that I at least have a gluten intolerance, if not full-blown celiac disease. However, he's ordering more tests (tTG) but by the time our labs get it into their system so that I can have...
  21. Thank you for telling me that. I'll contact my doctor right away!
  22. Wow, I never knew that all those sounds in my stomach could be from celiac disease. My stomach is always noisy and LOUD! It's like it's constantly gurgling. That's from celiac disease?
  23. Thanks so much for replying. I definitely plan to remain gluten free, but I have one question. Since I've been gluten-free for almost 2 months now, will the test results for the tTG be affected by this? I guess I just want to put my mind at ease, one way or another. If I have celiac disease, which I strongly believe I do, I would almost be kind of relieved...
  24. Thanks Kaiti! I hope the lab gets this test soon so I can have it done. Either way, I just want to know what's going on with me! -Peaches
  25. P.S. Please excuse my mispelling of Anti-Gliadin.
