  1. Open Original Shared Link Check out this site on mixed connective tissue disease.
  2. I am B12 deficient too. My doctor has me getting shots to get me back up to regular levels. Maybe you should ask your doctor for shots. They will probably want to do a blood test first to see how deficient you are. That's a faster way to get it back into your system. I don't have any moons on my fingernails. But I don't remember ever having them before either...
  3. Yeah, that's the only fast food place I eat at anymore too. I haven't learned what I can and can't eat anywhere else. My friend asked me how my glutton free diet was going! Now that's all we call it, as a joke.
  4. Check out this website Open Original Shared Link It's actually for San Diego area, but I expect a lot of these restaurants are throughout California. As for gas stations, a lot of them these days have fruit. Lay's plain potato chips are gluten-free, not very good for you though.
  5. It is very frustrating to be young and feel like you are old! It makes you wonder about how the quality of life is going to be for the rest of your life if this is how you are when you are supposed to be feeling your best. I would say if you get your test results back and don't feel satisfied that the doctor has addressed your concerns, especially...
  6. Yes it is! Ingredients listed: Granulated Rice And that's it!
  7. Thanks everybody, I'll tell my sister what you all said. And try to get her to get tested too!
  8. My sister tried to breastfeed him for a couple weeks but it wasn't going well, so now he drinks formula. I don't know exactly what tests my mom had done, I doubt even she knows. She said the doctor thought it was silly that she wanted to be tested just because I had it. Isn't that stupid? But aren't we all used to how dumb a lot of doctors are when it...
  9. I'm trying to get all of my family to get tested. But they aren't taking me very seriously. My mom has been tested though and I thought for sure that she had it because she'd been previously diagnosed with IBS and was having similar problems as me. But the test came back negative (blood test). So I don't know. I will check the baby's formula to see if...
  10. My sister just had a baby about two months ago and he has had very painful gas, he's crying all the time. Most people say he's probably got colic and the doctor thinks it's reflux. Of course, since I'm always trying to find a connection to celiac disease (since it's so underdiagnosed) and because he does have the same genes as me I was wondering if anybody...
  11. Does anybody know about Excedrin Migraine? I didn't see it on any of these lists, I saw Excedrin Extra Strength, but no Migraine. I'm just worried because I just bought a huge bottle today I was hoping somebody knew because it is so common. Thanks!
  12. Yeah, I find this one hard to follow even if it's true. It's nice to be able to kiss your hubby on a whim without asking him to brush his teeth. That ruins the mood.
  13. Don't be too surprised if when your test results come back they don't really have an answer anyways. I've had positive tests twice now and my rheumatologist just says, well, this doesn't really mean you have anything or you don't. It's rather disappointing to have symptoms and tests done, but they can't tell you for sure if you have something or not. I'm...
  14. Those are so cute! And a good conversation starter.
  15. Open Original Shared Link Try this link. It's actually for San Diego specifically, but I'm sure a lot of these restaurants are all over the state.
  16. Does the Bare Escentuals last a long time? That stuff's a lot more spendy than what I usually buy. Ouch!
  17. I read on some site (I've read lots, so I don't remember where) that if you wear one of those medical alert bracelets when you go out to dinner that they may take it a lot more seriously and listen to you. I also think it may be good just in general in case you have to go to the hospital and are unable for some reason to tell them you have celiac, then they...
  18. Doesn't God know what is in your heart and not care if you take communion or not if your heart is in the right place and you are only not taking it because of Celiac disease? I don't think he would care. He knows you have celiac right? He loves you and doesn't want you to get sick because of a wheat filled cracker right?
  19. I have a lot of joint pain and stiffness too. And I'm only 26. It started really bad after I had been diagnosed with celiac, but before I went gluten free. One week I got really sick and my hands and ankles swelled up really big and I could barely walk. I continue to have pain in my ankles and knees to this day. They don't know what happened to cause this...
  20. You're starting to wonder if your co-workers are noticing how much time you spend in the restroom.
  21. I don't think I saw these on there: You eat before you go out to eat. You ask family members to bring barf bags home from airplane flights. You tell your husband to drive really fast and then you still have to stop at a public restroom when you are only 5 minutes from home. Your significant other knows what it means when you look...
  22. Husbands! We were eating at McDonalds and my husband dipped his crispy chicken sandwich into the ketchup I was using too. I just looked at him and he was like "what?!" At the Outback I asked for a gluten-free menu and the waitress brought it too me and then asked if I wanted their bread. Geez! I thought that they would know what it is, so I...
  23. I don't claim to be an expert on this because I've only known I've had it for a few months. But one way to think about safe foods for celiacs is all natural. If man made it you don't want it. Which is basically true even for people who don't have the disease. So many things are added to basically everything to gain shelf life, stop caking, etc. So all natural...
  24. I totally agree with this. We need to get out there so that in the future it gets easier and easier to eat out. Obviously places like the Outback and PF Changs have caught on and others will too if we keep plugging away. I went out to eat last week at a steakhouse (not the Outback) up here in Washington State. I called ahead of time and the manager had never...
  25. I'm becoming really disappointed in our doctors and their schooling. Insurance companies too. It's all about the profits now. That's probably why they don't do the test on everyone, the insurance companies probably don't want to pay for it, even if it's cheap. But even if it only costs them $20, $20 multiplied by millions is a lot. And they do need to stay...
