  1. That sounds cool! Can you tell us how?
  2. Okay, I just found something I don't like about e-mailing companies. I tried to write the people who make Hot Tamales and they wanted me to give them my address and birth date and almost every private thing I don't like to just throw out there. I don't like that at all.
  3. I saw one and it was a total waste of time. She even said before I sat down that they really didn't know very much about this disease and she just had handouts. I wonder how much my insurance company paid for those papers? I haven't really even read them, the ones I did had some out of date or wrong info. Maybe if you call around and try to find somebody...
  4. Thanks, Stephanie. I'll try to start e-mailing more often and see if that works.
  5. It makes me mad and totally doesn't make sense to me that OTC medications and some products only have to list "active ingredients." What's up with that? Do they not think the other stuff is important that we are ingesting? And with all the allergies out there?
  6. Well, my other problem is that I have social anxiety disorder. So thinking about calling people really stresses me out and I put it off for a long time. E-mail is impersonal so that doesn't bother me. But it also isn't as effective and takes a while to get answers from what it sounds like.
  7. I had e-mailed a company once too and they never got back to me. I explained in my e-mail how important it was that I found out and apparently they didn't care. That makes me really mad though. It's like, I'm giving you my money and you don't care enough to type out a couple words. E-mail's an easy way for people to get off without answering, so I'm sure...
  8. I'm wondering how many people on here have actually called companies to find out what questionable ingredients are. I have yet to call and I'm not looking forward to having to do it. Is it a pain in the butt? Are they usually friendly and helpful or are they annoyed? Also, how do you word your question? Do you just have to ask if gluten is in an ingredient...

  10. I like using the "view new posts" way. It's handy and you can see everything everybody's posted. Then you may get to read about an old topic you hadn't seen before because somebody has posted to it.
  11. I was never able to diet before either. I wouldn't even consider it because I knew I couldn't resist. I'm very weak willed. But this disease doesn't give you an option. When we have cake or donuts at work I have no desire to eat them. I may be a little (very little) sad, but I never want to eat it. Because I know I'll spend the rest of the day in the bathroom...
  12. I don't technically cheat. I've been on the diet for a few months now and sometimes, while a don't intentionally eat gluten foods, I may eat something that I'm not sure about just to see what happens. I haven't been doing that recently though. I know I shouldn't and eventually I won't. But I'm still getting used to all the rules. As I know more and more...
  13. It is awesome!
  14. I used to get migraines a couple times a week. But since going gluten free I've only had a couple. I'm very excited that I don't get them very often anymore because they interrupt your life considerably.
  15. Yeah, I refer to that list when I'm checking my foods, but I thought cosmetic ingredients might be different and not on the lists. Because when I read the ingredients on my chapstick, shampoo, etc. I don't recognize any of the names.
  16. I don't want to be a pain about this, but is there a list somewhere for ingredients found in these things as to whether they are safe or not? I have another thing now that I'm trying to find out if it's gluten-free, where can I go in the future to find out without having to bug you guys. It's ingredients are: Polybutene Hydrogenated Polyisobutene...
  17. You guys are very helpful. Thanks! I'm happy that I can keep using my favorite chapstick!
  18. I've finally kind of gotten used to what for look for in foods, but now I've started reading my meds and chapstick and other products and they use totally different terminology. Can anybody help me. Below is the link to my chapstick ingredients list. If anybody is experience reading this stuff can you look at it and then let me know if it if gluten-free?...
  19. Does anybody use the CSA Gluten-Free Product Listing? And if so, is it worth the $30 price tag? If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is a link to it. Open Original Shared Link
  20. Wow, I'm feeling really blessed right now for how my family, friends and co-workers have been so understanding about this. My family tries hard to prepare stuff I can eat and then if it turns out I can't they try to find stuff around that I can. My aunt, a couple weeks after I went gluten-free, had us over for dinner and she specifically planned ahead...
  21. Cream of Rice is by Nabisco, just like the Cream of Wheat. The box is almost exactly the same, though, so you really have to look for it. I don't know if it's similar to the one you are already eating though, because like I said, I don't really like them.
  22. Have you tried Cream of Rice? It is in the exact same box as Cream of Wheat, so it may not stick out. At my store it is right by the Cream of Wheat. I never really liked the Wheat one, so I don't really like the Rice one either. But if you do, I think they are pretty similar.
  23. I got mine by joining the Gluten Intolerance Group and they came in the packet they sent me. I know you can order them somewhere just by themselves. I'm sure somebody else will get on here and tell you how. But when I used mine a few weeks ago the waiter took it and didn't even look at it. He just held it while I ordered and then gave it back to me. So it...
