  1. I've had this same problem. Since the ingredients are so different from foods it's hard to tell. I also have yet to check these.
  2. If I remember correctly the printed out menus at the restuarant had some mistakes on it. There are some things not included on it that should be. I believe that somebody here checked with them and they said the restuarant ones were printed out wrong. So you may want to go off the website one as that is easier for them to update.
  3. According to the site cdford posted you guys are right! It's in my humble opinion.
  4. I don't know if you have yet, but you should read Wheat Free Worry Free by Danna Korn (man I feel like I'm pushing this book all the time now). It has a section on doctors and why they don't seem to think about celiac disease. To summarize, they are taught (probably more in the past though) that celiac disease is rare and they are even then learn only a little...
  5. And IMHO = in my honest opinion Any others people can think of to share in case somebody doesn't know?
  6. Thank you. I figured it was something like that.
  7. I've seen a whole bunch of posts where the term "DH" is used and they are not talking about dermatitis herpetiformis. It seems to be something to do with their husband. Please help. I hope this isn't a stupid question.
  8. I'm glad that you have learned so much from this board about cross contamination and how careful we really have to be. I would say that yes, your symptoms would warrant asking to be tested more. I don't know much about the testing. Hopefully somebody else will write about that. I don't know the names of what needs to be done.
  9. Sounds good. Thanks for letting us know.
  10. Did you see all the recipes they have on their website? I don't know if there is a regular loaf one, but there are tons of recipes. Open Original Shared Link
  11. I eat Ener-G's tapioca bread. It's obviously not like regular bread. I use it for tuna sandwiches (toasted) and for toast with pb&j on it. I tried once to eat a regular type sandwich on it and I couldn't take more than one bite, it was so terrible. My mom picked me up some rice bread a couple weeks ago. It weighed about 5 lbs. My husband found it moldy...
  12. When I was diagnosed last year, my doctor gave me a list of gluten-free food and Corn Pops was on it. I looked at the label at the store and one of the first ingredients was wheat. Obviously they need a new list.
  13. What I would do in this situation is write a letter telling them exactly what happened and then include some info about celiac disease and what we can and can't have. I would make sure to include how sick you got from eating there and how more and more people are being diagnosed with this all the time. Maybe they will then take it more seriously and research...
  14. Thanks, Jen. I'll check neighborhoodies out. I do have a lot of ideas now for t-shirts that I would like to make. Of course, I could just buy a shirt and then iron on a print out from the computer. But I've done that before and they don't last very long with washing.
  15. How does cafepress work? Can you buy just one shirt? Is it very expensive? I went to a different website for shirts and played around and the shirt I made you had to buy a minimum of six and even then they were $30 each. Ouch!
  16. Wow, Jen. You are really on top of things. Good Job!
  17. My husband just contributed: "The Gluten Stops Here"
  18. I totally understand that some people do not like this word and I can sympathize with them as there are some words out there I don't like to hear or read on people's shirts. I do like the idea of saying something about gluten. Maybe something on the front of a shirt that says "Gluten Free Zone" or "Gluten Bites!"
  19. Good point, Shirley! My mom has been tested and it came back negative even though I don't believe it because she seems classic celiac disease. The doctor also didn't think the test was necessary (sound familiar?) so I wonder if he even did the right tests. The reason I wonder is because my sister went to the same clinic (but different doctor) specifically...
  20. There are many vitamins that specifically say they are gluten free. So I find it easier just to use those. These may mostly be available in health food stores or sections.
  21. I check in a lot during work too. When it's slow I come on here a few times a day. We were really busy last week after a while of being slow and I said to my husband "It was so busy today I didn't have time to check the celiac board!" I guess it's a sign of how much work I have as to whether or not I come on the board. I would like to be able to check...
  22. He's so cute! Looks like he likes to show off his injuries.
  23. I know I would never have the stomach to do that.
  24. Okay, I haven't been a member for very long. But I'm noticing more all the time how hard it is to keep up with all the posts on here. It's getting more and more popular. I went on today at lunch and there were 3 pages of new posts and 3 more pages after work. I'm not complaining or saying anything should be done to fix it. I was just surprised that so many...
  25. Claim Jumper is good too! Good news!
