  1. Most things give me worm like poops in the morning. (Sorry) But that is why I take Imodium, because the skinny poop has trouble stopping. It lasts for several hours many times and I will have many small bowel movements. When I get sick of it, I take Imodium because I try to substitute teach. Any thoughts are appreciated as to what to eat that is firming and...
  2. Is this normal to take Imodium and then have severe abdominal pain on the lower right? I took some on Tuesday morning and it now Wednesday night. It is really hurting. My PA said this does this to her and she can't take Imodium. What do you all think? I want to get rid of the pain. Any suggestions are helpful, Thanks for any ideas. I just hate the not knowing...
  3. I posted in the kids and parents section in a post called "sad update" I subbed at a school that does not want to give me a bathroom key. Everyone is mad at me because I may need to use the bathroom during class time. No one understands. I would like to go talk to admin. or someone higher up and say that I have an understanding of the ADA Open Original Shared...
  4. Open Original Shared Link I found this under the ADA, but I need your help. I want to go to the high school office and ask if they will cover a class if I need to use the bathroom. It would be good to go with a copy of the ADA and make reference to the part that applies to my situation. Can anyone look at the ADA listed here and help me find where it...
  5. Always read labels and pick up a few good books with words of what to look for. It is hard at first. Stay strong and learn about cross contamination. You will have to teach the people you live with and make some changes in your kitchen. Eating out is now quite hard, but can be done. You may want to skip it for a while. Many people are dairy and soy sensitive...
  6. It doesn't sound like celiac. I hope you find the answer soon . Hugs. The fever is not usually a part of celiac. My dd screamed in k that her bones hurt, all the time. No one believed her. It must really hurt to grow.
  7. I don't want to go back to this school because they treated me so poorly. The teacher I subbed for was very rude to me at the gym and treated me like a criminal. I think they are all crazy. However I want to sub for other HSs in this district. One school has posted by their door a sign saying we abide by the ADA and then the district reps phone number. This...
  8. I still have some issues sometimes and have started to have panic attacks again. I hate it. Any advice? I sub teach and am not sure this is a good job for me since a teacher is only supposed to go during breaks or recess. This really stresses me out. I will see my gastro dr. later this week to go over yearly blood work. I don't know if I should mention this...
  9. I wont go back there with no support and understanding. I have found some other schools that are more understanding. Silly question but what is the ADA?
  10. Hugs back. Thanks for caring. Please say a prayer or send positive vibes that I'd find a safe kind work environment. I just don't know why it is sooooo hard. Sometimes you just want to give up and then wish celiac on all their family for endless years to come. Not really. But for this lady, sorry it entered my mind.
  11. The teacher I subbed for wrote me a threatening message after I wrote a nice letter to the principal and called the teacher. The politics at this school are so sad. What discrimination. I will never sub there again. The teacher wrote me to never contact her again. I have been subbing since 91 and have never encountered this. Amazing. We need to keep standing...
  12. I tried speaking to her. It did not work. My best friend from my knitting group thinks I should get a medical note now since she wont listen to reason and then speak with the principal. She is the only person I report to. I could borrow a key from the neighboring teacher, but in a celiac emergency, that is not good. Sometimes they are out of their class for...
  13. The students have their own bathrooms but the bathrooms are locked up unexpectedly if a students messes them up and then the students have to wonder the school to find one that is unlocked. Pretty crazy. Anyhow, that is not my issue. Do you think I am in the right to fight for a bathroom key considering I have celiac disease with current issues? And how do...
  14. I subbed at a high school today and loved the kids but had a strange experience with the school sec, She will not give out bathroom keys to subs!!! She says subs can use the single bathroom in the school office and that is all. I have been having issues lately and this will not do. This is a huge school, spread out. My class may be seriously a half mile from...
  15. I think the general population has a 1 in 100 chance of getting it and first degree relatives have a 1 in 25 chance of getting it in their life.
  16. I would try to be understanding. What if that was your child? Wouldn't you be glad that there was a policy? I was talking to our school kitchen worker and she made an interesting observation. She said that most kids, all kids throw away most of their lunch at school. She said kids need very little food at school They just want to get it done with and go play...
  17. I don't use conditioner sometimes and just use my dd's detangler. It works better than conditioner most times for me.
  18. I seem to get acid reflex feelings after I eat the 2 foods together. Any ideas on how to quiet my symptoms? I love tomatoes but don't want indigestion all afternoon.
  19. I always say when in doubt, make it at home if possible. I'm funny that way.
  20. I can't eat cheese and I can't absorb a lot of fats, frys, red meats, processed gluten-free stuff. Sends me to the bathroom. Maybe you should lay off anything fatty and see it it goes away.
  21. I can now drink white wine. So I have some everyday. Probably more than I should. Give it time and try white wine when you are better.
  22. I love the taste of Petes but recently we bought a bag of Pete's coffee and for several days I got the dumping effect each morning. I am able to drink Costco's store blend that is made by Starbucks. Does anyone else have an idea as to why this may be?
  23. Has anyone else had trouble with their nuts that say g on them? I also had some dried mango that I assumed was gluten-free. Does anyone have any thoughts? I had a lot of dumping effects the next day.
  24. We went to Fog Harbor, The Daily Grill and Sausalito's Crab House and Prime Rib. I was able to find something gluten-free at each one. I do suggest these restaurants. The best was Nordstrom Cafe. The best service and they really cared. I hope this helps someone else on their gluten-free journey in SF. Also the Mariposa Bakery was good for bread and rolls...
