What about Guacamole? You can leave tomatoes out and add just the right amount of spice/flavor to suite your taste.

Has anyone called to check if they are gluten-free? Thanks.
Sometimes the food is not the issue but how you cooked it. If you grilled them on a grill or used utensils that gluten foods were also cooked on you may get a gluten reaction.

I eat gluten-free oatmeal (Bob's Redmill gluten-free Old Fashioned Oats (slow cook kind)) 2 or 3 times a week. I was not able to eat this without digestive issues for about 6 months after going gluten-free. I guess that I am not a sensitive guy.

I read about some kind of tax break for Celiac's Gluten Free Food. I have a record of everything big I have bought for the last year. I have 6 living at home that should be on a Celiac diet because of my genetics. Now, a tax break for Celiac could be quite a break for us. Who can tell me where to learn about this, or is it really too good to be true?
Do you need a doctor's diagnosis? For each person with Celiac?
Would it apply to beef? Would it only apply to foods labeled gluten free? Would it apply to my vegetable seeds?
Well, if you know where to direct us, let me know.
I am not giving tax advice here. If you are not well versed in taxes in the USA then I suggest seeking advice from a tax professional. If you file your own taxes utilizing deductions then you should understand the IRS Publication that I believe covers this topic. I believe that IRS Pub 502 covers this and it should be read thoroughly. There is no short reply that could be given here that everyone can follow (blame it on the IRS).
Basically, you should be able to deduct the differential between a gluten-free food product and a similar regular gluten laden food product as long as the aggregate amount of that differential exceeds 7.5% of your AGI using Schedule A. And no, in your example meat would not be part of this. Further note, for tax year 2012 the deduction threshold goes up to 10% of your AGI (from 7.5%) as result of the new (Obama) health care reform.

Here is an interesting read on the subject of gluten in wine. Open Original Shared Link
I suggest reading the replies to this blog also. For disclosure purposes, I drink wine and will continue to do so.
EDIT (added): It is my opinion that wine is safe and I am not suggesting that anyone should be concerned about gluten in wine. It is just interesting to learn...

Hi,
The best advice is... Date someone that also has celiac disease and your problems are solved. I have also had issues with dating related to eating out and requesting that my date brushes her teeth before kissing. And I have never dated anyone that has celiac disease so I'm not sure if it would make such a difference but it sure would make life easier in so many ways.
If you like gluten-free tiramisu or at least if you are willing to make it with someone then I'm your next date!
I have been dreaming about gluten-free tiramisu ever since someone here got my thoughts on trying some.

The only time I threw up from gluten was after many years of cumulative damage to my digestive system just prior to going gluten-free. If you are vomiting, it sounds like you have to make some dramatic changes to your diet.

Around 114 to 120 today (depending on what part of town). Yesterday my car said 119.
Ugh.
Now that's hot!

I can say that I have not craved gluten foods except beer. One day I will find a tasty gluten-free beer... And there is not a single gluten-free beer on the market today tastes good so no recommendations needed.

Your dishes look and sound great! I hope you continue being passionate about your food. Let me know if you need an extra gluten-free eater (me) to try out some of your meals!

If you don't mind, how old are you? Under 21? Just curious to see if any (young) adults who have been malnourished for a long time see a slight growth spurt after going gluten-free.

Born in America (Yonkers, NY). My Mom's grand-parents were from Ireland and my Dad's parents are off the boat from Italy. But somewhere in there a dog was added to the gene pool...I think I am part dog too.

In fact, they all list that. I just shot the company an email asking, I'll let you know what I find out.
I will try out the iPhone app. The app might be incorrect as I did find the following on the company that makes the Farmers Bacon, Hormel Foods, website:
Which food allergens are recognized in Hormel Foods products?
We recognize the top eight allergens:
- Peanuts
- Tree Nuts
- Milk Products
- Eggs
- Soy
- Wheat
- Crustaceans
- Fish
These will be clearly listed on the ingredient listing.
To avoid food allergens in our products, always read the ingredient label on every package. This ingredient listing should be reviewed prior to every purchase, as ingredients and product formulations may change.
If it has wheat, then they list it. I am suspect about the app but will give it a try. Thanks.

Do you people not have iPhones? Lol there are apps that will scan the package and break down exactly what is in each of the ingredients. It's a great thing, any questions and it will pick it right up. If there any possibility of gluten it automatically high lights it.
What app for the iphone do you use that can easily show the list of ingredients when scanned? And are you scanning the bar code with this app? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi,
It has been a while since I posted on this forum and I have been gluten-free for about 11 months and made some mistakes along the way. Anytime you try to change a habit like eating gluten-free that you will encounter moments when you make mistakes. Think of it like a war or a football game. You may loose a small battle or yardage but you must remain vigilant and focused on making forward progress in your battle with staying true to your gluten-free diet. Never give up and never give in!
Additionally, never feel embarrassed about your condition. You have to be your own advocate and look out for your own health.
I wish you the best on your continued positive efforts to make yourself healthy.
