  1. I have a twin sister - both of us have suffered from back pain for years and just figured it was they way we were. She started getting the hip pain/thigh pain that you are describing and went to an arthritis specialist out of desperation about a year ago. He tested her for arthritis and came up neg. and he just started testing her for everything under the...
  2. I just bought 2 tubes of lipstick from here - Open Original Shared Link - it is cheaper than afterglow and I had a better experience with the shipping/customer service.
  3. Thanks for asking - we are both feeling much better! I cannot possibly imagine what else it could be - I sat down with a calendar and was able to tie it definitely to the meat smoker. He was using poultry seasoning, sugar, salt and water to brine. It seems so odd that a possible cc issue in the manufacturing of a spice would cause such a reaction, but I have...
  4. Yep - I mean digestion - because I am using the wipes to clean her face after eating when we are out and she is a little monster (I lover her to bits, but she is nuts, and she will bite and suck on the wipe while I do this). Our symptoms are varied but usually the same every time - she gets super constipated and sleeps very poorly. I get intense back/neck...
  5. I can't find a current thread on this - sorry if this question has been asked recently! Something is getting me and my daughter and I cannot figure it out. I have checked soap, cleaners, cosmetics, and my kitchen is 100% gluten-free. We go out to eat about once a month but it wasn't that this time - too much time has passed. It isn't getting us all the time...

    ARCHIVED Chik Fil A

Has everyone seen this new option just announced? Open Original Shared Link I haven't been to Chik Fil A since diagnosis (or any fast food place), but it is a big presence around where I live. I am thinking of taking my children to try this as my son misses this kind of thing. It seems that the fruit and milk are definitely safe but I am so nervous - what...
  7. Thank you for your replies! I do think you all are on to something with the iron (our levels have been from a little low to very very low over the years). I am going to focus on the iron first since that is easier and then see about other foods. I don't have seasonal allergies but my husband does - perhaps she has a genetic double whammy. My kids get so constipated...

    ARCHIVED Jason's Deli

We had a really good experience at Jason's Deli as well - the manager came out to make our meal. My son ordered grilled cheese and he said he didn't want him to have that because he was worried about cc with the toaster - I was really impressed that he would know about that (and chagrined that I did not think of that.)! They brought out separate boards, knives...
  9. My son (age 5) generally has GI symptoms when he gets glutened and is not very sensitive. I know when I have been glutened - I get severe pain, etc., etc., etc. OK, My daugher, who just turned 2, seems to be very very sensitive. She does get extraordinarily constipated but because she is so very young, sometimes I have trouble knowing if there has been a...
  10. Hi, I can't seem to find any current threads on this topic. Anyone been to Costa Rica and stay at an all-inclusive resort? What was the experience? Any tips besides the idea of carrying the card to explain my diet? Thanks!
  11. I can understand the bitterness and cynical attitude - I didn't even have GI issues before I was diagnosed (I lived with debilitating pain and crazy dizziness, etc.) and I am so frustrated by the number of doctors that suggested I "stop picking up my children so much", stop nursing so I could take narcotics/steriods, that it is was all in my head, or that...
  12. My favorite is Schar, but I just tried Jovial this week. I made baked mac and cheese with it and it came out really good! I know Schar and Jovial cost more, but they really do taste better to me so I try to fit it into the budget when I can.
  13. Thanks for the reply! I agree with you - just something to take the scary edge off of eating out and about would be fabulous. I am not a patient person, but I guess I will just have to wait and see...
  14. I've seen what looks like a press release lately - - and also another one that is from a company that is trying to develop what appears to be a monthly shot (they are calling it a "vaccination")- https://www.celiac.com/articles/22559/1/ImmusanTs-Celiac-Vaccine-Passed-Phase-I-Clinical-Trials/Page1.html. I have only been at this almost a year, but it seems...
  15. I know it's been said before, but what an amazing place. I've been many many times before, but this is the first since diagnosis. I did a huge amount of research beforehand to be sure that we didn't have any problems finding a good place. My sister and I and my two children ate three meals a day for 5 straight days at various places and not one of us got...
  16. So, my two small children and I were diagnosed days before Christmas last year (bummer of a time). We are going out of town for Thanksgiving, so I hosted my husband's family tonight for traditional Thanksgiving dinner and it was a perfect meal. (Well, you know, food wise, family is for another web forum )For those of you who are newbies, I want to send out...
  17. The Finesse clean line does make gluten-free hairspray (it is labelled) available in the US! I don't use hairspray, but I received it as a gift just because my mother say it on the label! She bought it at Rite Aid but has also seen it at Walgreens and a few grocery stores. I bet you could find it online too!
  18. When I try to make sugar cookies with my son, they are coming out lousy. I need a really simple recipe that we can use with our holiday cookie cutters!
  19. This gelato is so good. I can't stop eating it. It is absurd.
  20. I am going to NYC for a few days next month and I will be eating out most meals. I have had unusual good luck with eating out (only been glutened a few times over the last year but I just hate it when I am and I do not want my trip ruined for anyone!). Both of my young children and myself are diagnosed and I have been doing as much pre-planning as I can as...
  21. According the website at methodhome.com, they don't use gluten in any of their products. Method is what I have been using for soap, washing machine, dishwasher and counter spray! If you go the website, FAQ #68, it says this: All of method's products are 100% gluten-free and safe for those with Celiac Disease.
  22. I just looked at the website (desertessence.com) and most products are designated gluten-free, but I found wheat in the ingredients for the shea butter (body scrub). Almost everything was labeled gluten-free but I don't think it all is? Did I read it right? I tend to be someone that has made several mistakes by confusing "a company whose labeling I can trust...
  23. I've experimented a lot with different shampoos/washes lately - and I find I just am more comfortable is something actually labeled gluten free instead of relying on absence in ingredients (my two small children also have Celiac, so the chances of it getting in the mouth are much higher here!). In the end, I think Desert Essence is the best and it smells...
  24. I have been at this about 10 months. I went through an initial honeymoon phase of feeling like I had superpowers and all my symptoms fell away. Then I started to make mistakes - every couple of weeks - and I couldn't quite shake the symptoms. (I don't get digestive problems - I get back/neck pain and neurological issues). Now, I feel confident that I have...
  25. I have been thinking about this Starbucks thread. For those of you who won't go to Starbucks, do you also not eat out at other establishments? I am trying to figure out if the risk is greater just because they won't "guarantee" - that just seems more like the CYA answer that you get from many products (for example, products that are gluten-free but manufactured...
