  1. I am confused by this thread - are celiacs not supposed to be around hay? I thought hay was a grass. I know it is only Spring, but are we suggesting that celiacs not got to fall festivals/hayrides/pumpkin patches/etc. Please tell me this isn't true.
  2. I do worry about it but I always ask to see the face paint container and it will almost always have the ingredients on it and I have yet to see any face paint with any red flags. My son in particular loves to have his face painted and we have not had any problems. I don't allow any near his mouth though (really, that is probably best for any young child...
  3. We eat these all the time and I haven't seen any problems. I buy them in bulk for my kids lunches, etc. Are you worried that the gluten certification isn't accurate? Would the certification rule out chances of cc or would the possibility of cc still be there?
  4. I called them a few weeks ago to check out the cc rumors and was told that if there is a chance of cc with the pretzel ones, there will be a warning on the back that says it may contain wheat. I was told if there is no warning, then they are not made on the same lines as the pretzel ones. I gave them to my kids after that (from a bag with no cc warning) and...
  5. I am curious if anyone as tried the Angry Orchard cider? I saw it on special at the grocery store but don't want to take money from the precious wine budget to buy it if it isn't great. The Woodchuck cider (all i have tried was the granny smith flavor) wasn't really my thing and I ended up tossing most of them.
  6. Thank you so much for the replies - I know that no one can tell me that it is always ok to go out and I needed to hear that other people are not going out as much. We are huge travelers and it has been hard to figure out how to travel without eating out as much. I live in a medium-sized southern city (about to change in a couple months, I hope!) and there...
  7. Hi, So after almost a year and a half into this, I am really truly seeing myself heal. My children are finally growing and sleeping (!!!!), my son is exploding in energy, and my daughter's stomach is better than ever. The downside is I am experiencing intense fear and discomfort with eating outside of the home - and I feel bad. My husband loves to eat out...
  8. I had a very hard time with prenatals during my pregnancies and would throw them up immediately - my doctor had me take 2 children's flavored/chewable vitamins (though not specially formulated for pregnancy, his theory was that it was better than not taking one at all which is what was happening as I just could not take them. Mine had iron added to them)...
  9. Thank you!
  10. Hi, I hope I am posting this under the right sub-forum topic - I know this has been discussed, but I love my information new and Spring is here so... My family is moving into a temporary living situation in a condo complex where there are community grills. I will not be able to clean a grill and keep it clean and I have no way of knowing what was on the...
  11. I got the email reply - it looks like the phone is the best place to get information from them. I gave the children M&Ms from a bag without the cc warning on our trip this week and we were fine (and believe me, my daughter would exhibit symptoms if we weren't.... In response to your email regarding M&M'S CHOCOLATE CANDIES. Thank you for your...
  12. Sorry - I did ask about the holiday and seasonal colors (I typed out the response and then lost it and didn't include that the second time) - she said it doesn't matter about color - they are still gluten-free as long as they aren't pretzels - all colors are made of dye/confectioners sugar/corn starch. I would feel better if I had this all in writing though...
  13. OK,I have a 4.5 hour flight this week with my kids and to do without M&Ms was stressing me out so I called the 800 number instead of waiting on the email. The woman at Mars confirmed that all M&Ms except pretzel ones are gluten free. She also confirmed that some M&Ms are now being processed on the same line as the pretzel M&Ms. She said the...
  14. I have emailed them already this morning - I will post them as soon as I get a reply!
  15. I have seen this on a couple of other blogs/sites in the past couple weeks: "Just spoke with a representative at Mars and was told that ANY kind of M&Ms could now say "may contain wheat" as they are now produced in two kinds of facilities. So there may be coconut M&Ms out there that are still gluten-free and produced in a facility that does not contain...
  16. Thank you so much for the reply - I needed someone to help me reduce the crazy in my head! I know they have to label the wheat if it is included - it is the possibility of cc that throws me. I can't believe that potential cc caused such a big reaction in me, but I can't explain what happened any other way. Ever since that incident, I am so paranoid and uncomfortable...
  17. And some sweet teas you buy prepared - for example, Coca Cola doesn't include the Gold Peak Sweet Tea in it's gluten free list.
  18. I know that some spices (Spice Island and McCormick, right?) have gluten-free lists. I ran into a grocery store that only carried Morton and Bassett today and bought cumin for something I am making tonight. I am certain that I was glutened by poultry seasoning earlier this year (I am still incredulous that this could be possible, but I cannot figure out what...
  19. Wait - what am I missing? Why is fruit dangerous? How is this fruit getting contaminated with gluten? I get that a buffet can have cc but I have asked for my own tongs in the past and that has worked. Is there something else I need to know? I am nervous now - why fruit from a market? I am going to crumble from frustration at this point - is there no way for...
  20. We visit PA to visit family a lot - here a few tips I can offer for Pittsburgh - The Fairmont Hotel downtown was fabulous in feeding us in the hotel restaurant - they have a designated gluten-free menu but will make anything for you! They made pancakes and cookies for my kids and that was a real treat. They had bread too (but I don't know if they always had...
  21. I wrote an email to Starbucks - I wanted to express frustration at the lack of information given by the 800 number when you call about drink ingredients. I know some of you aren't into Starbucks (taste, price, yadda yadda), so forgive me, but I really do love Starbucks and I was bummed that I wasn't being given the information that I needed to decide if I...
  22. Target brand ibprofen is labelled as gluten free but I haven't seen any other pain relievers that they make (acetemetaphin) or any other pain relievers labelled gluten free. I just stick with the ibprofen. (p.s. excuse my spelling - I know I don't have the drugs right, but I figured close enough...)
  23. Go Picinics have helped us so much and they are great! - I see many threads here of people asking what to bring on flights/through airports and this has been a perfect solution for us when we are traveling! I also leave one in my car when the weather isn't too warm - a few weeks ago, I went to a restaurant and didn't feel comfortable eating so I ate it when...
  24. I can't find a recent enough thread on this one - I will be traveling to LA next month and need some ideas of where to eat. We will be staying in Anaheim (I know Disneyland is a good option), but will be really all over the area over few days and am curious about your experiences. I am becoming incredibly food phobic as I just cannot seem to get longer than...
