How can I test the fries on my own for gluten?
-
So I heard some where McDonald's fries were gluten free I tried it and they lost certaintly are not. Tried burger king burger without the bun, yet another reaction. Anyone have any luck with any fast food places. I do a good job of avoiding those places but sometimes I am out all day and need something. Is anything safe or should I stay away all together...

I LOVE cheesecake factory an you made my day telling me their Godiva chocolate cheesecake is gluten free. Oh and the doctors tend to think my heart problems are related to chemotherapy I have a low ejection fraction and VERY high heart rate, I believe my stress with eating gluten and the pain I experience has only done more stress and made it worse

ARCHIVED Hospitals Are "healthy" Places, Right? Accommodating Celiac... ?
DonnaMM replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My hospital does not offer a gluten free menu for patients they just simply black certain things out of the computer that the patient can't have. But I still don't know how comfortable that would make me. Like for example the scrambled eggs are powdered yes eggs are gluten free BUT what about the processed kind? I could see the hospital just assuming its... -

It's really starting to hit me I will never be allowed to have certain things. Going out with my friends is no longer fun I dont like wine or beer and can never find potato vodka at restaurants office parties are always terrible and there are never foods I can eat. I can't have my fried Mac and cheese from cheesecake anymore. This is very depressing I feel...

I just found I have severe tachycardia (rapid heart beat) and often when my pulse goes really high sometimes over 200 I get very short of breath. Pay attention to how your heart feels when you are short of breath, if you have palpitations then she your doctor. I let it go for years blaming it on asthma and stress and now I am about one step away from heart...

DonnaMM posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am so annoyed about how I was treated and embarassed at my job today. I went downstairs to get a cheeseburger (no bun of course) which I do often. Most of the guys know my condition and immediately change their gloves right when they me. But this one today was JUST AWFUL! I went up and said can I get two chesseburgers with no bun please and can you please... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Results
DonnaMM posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ok so got my blood work down when I was so pissed when I found out my doctor never ordered ttg iga but I had a lapse of judgement and forgot my gluten free diet will affect the results. But oh we'll my levels are like 3 and my lab says less than 4 I am not willing to do a gluten challenge so I will just take that as a positive -
Thanks I think I may try some benefited in my water. Anyone know if it's gluten free?

I have realized that since I have gone gluten free I struggle more with constipation. Although it is way better than running to the bathroom and hoping to make it in time but the constipation is pretty bad too. Not sure if it's because I am eating less while I try to find food I like or if it's cause I am not getting as much fiber since I don't eat wheat...

Before I was diagnosed with celiac my doctor assumed IBS (don't they all) and gave me librax to help with the stomach pain. It really did work but I had found that it works well to stop the cramping and diarrhea when I accidentally eat gluten. Has anyone else tried this medication?
-
decided to get a copy of my labs today and realized my doctor did not even order a full celiac panel on me! He said no way I have celiac cause negative biopsy (with blunted villi) even though I respond to the diet. All he ordered was IgA, IgG and IgM so not happy right now!

ARCHIVED If Cross-Contaminated How Long Do Ur Symptoms Last?
DonnaMM replied to Applegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ummm yea I can't believe that anyone is not concerned about this. Usually rapid weight loss is a huge sign for cancer (not saying you have cancer) but it surprises me they are not more concerned. I would recommend a different hospital if they have one in your hospital. I am a nurse so I can give you a few tips to make sure they listen and admit you to the... -
ARCHIVED Weird Findings On Ct
DonnaMM posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I frequently get CTs of abdomen as a follow up for cancer. My scans often show weird findings such as transient intussusception and fluid in my jejunum. Did anyone else present with these kind if findings? I still find it quite funny that even with these odd findings and the visual appearance of my small intestine I still had to diagnose myself -

Although I am a big believer in specialists in for certain things. I am starting to learn GI doctors dont seem to be the best guys to deal with celiac disease. I am not sure where you live but I would recommend possibly a university hospital. They are very big into research and are constantly re-evaulating causes and presentations of certain diseases. Maybe... -

Mushroom, I am sorry that you have such a terrible experience with doctors. I work with them all day long and always gave them the benefit of the doubt, but I am beginning to see their true colors. ARCHIVED Why Do Some People Feel They *must* Have An Endoscopy?
DonnaMM replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not quite sure why he was so against diagnosing me. He said he hates to put me on such a restrictive diet if the biopsy came back negative. I was just like ok great its negative but I am going to stay on the gluten free diet cause its the only thing that gets rid of the pain. I had also been gluten free for about four months, but he refused to take that into... -

I also don't know how you were able to handle that guy. It is no secret that celiac is autoimmune and you do not outgrow it is plastered all over the internet. Any 10 year old could figure it out. I am not too familiar with EE but what I have read it does seem like something to not take seriously or misdiagnosis. And your poor child, it sounds like see was...
