  1. I haven't been officially dx yet, I am waiting on a scope for biopsy on September 9. My doc said at the very least I have gluten intolerance based on the blood results, so the scope is just to 1) get confirmation of Celiac or not and 2) make sure there is nothing else going on. Regardless of the biopsy results, I am going gluten free. My doc thinks that...
  2. I think it's time you found a new GI doc!! Any doctor that fails to do a thorough work-up (including an upper and lower scope) to rule out any other possible cause of your issues before labeling you with IBS is not a good doctor. As far as your blood work goes, yes, being off of gluten could have caused them to be falsly negative. You need to ask for the...
  3. I also wanted to add, I think it's ridiculous when doctors call an elevated result a "weak positive"!! It's like being "a little pregnant". A positive is a positive, and needs further investigation. Sorry you are going thru this with the kiddos. I have a feeling I will be dealing with the same scenario when I get my son tested. My DGP was highly...
  4. Hi! My first thought when I read your update was why is your doc using the "old" antigliadin antibody screening tests? I thought they were being replaced with the more sensitive DGP (deamidated Gliadin Peptide) screening test?? It is much more specific that the older tests, and many labs have changed over to it and discontinued the AGA antibody tests....
  5. The tTG test is the antibody that indicates that your body is making toxic molecules from gluten that damage your villi. It is a measure of the how badly your body is DAMAGING your intestines. So, the fact that it has returned to normal after a gluten free diet is a pretty good indicator that you have Celiac. If it was elevated because of another issue...
  6. My DGP was 59 (0-10) . Yes I have had symptoms for the last 4 years, which began with a bowel resection for endometriosis (I think this was the trigger for me). I recently put together a timeline of events (I am geek like that) for my GI doc. Here is how it all began for me: 2007
  7. Well, to start, you need to have a Celiac panel (blood test) done to see if you are gluten intolerant and/or have Celiac Disease. It sure does sound like you could, with all of those symptoms. The mono could have been the trigger. I hope you get some answers soon!
  8. I think "inconclusive" blood tests means that one of them was positive and at the very least you have gluten intolerance! Why on earth did that doc not follow -up on that "inconclusive" blood test? Good grief! You need to get those tests done again and see a GI for a scope. By the way, I do have endometriosis. I have had it for 20 years (I am...
  9. OMG, YES!! The horrible upper left sided stomach pain is what caused me to see the doc who ordered the celiac testing that came back positive! I had seen several other docs for it and they all said the same thing....reflux, GERD, fibromyalgia (that one was a stretch), and nothing worked to get rid of it! It was like a knife right under my upper left ribcage...
  10. From what I understand (I am new to this, so it's not much ) if you are "just" gluten intolerant vs. full blown Celiac disease, you don't have an increased risk of developing cancers and all of the serious intestinal damage that comes with Celiac disease. So, for me, having the DX of either gluten-intolerant with or without Celiac is important info to have...
  11. Hello! I am a newby here....and I need need to vent.... Here is a little history.....I had a bowel resection in 2007 (endometriosis had grown into my bowel, so they removed a small part of it). I then developed complications from the surgery (excessive scar tissue causing bowel obstructions, GI yeast infection, rectal inflamation and bleeding). I was...
