    People make this mistake all the time. That is why I do not think it is a big deal that foods will be labeled wheat free. All it means for celiacs is that we do not have to look at the ingredients to decide whether or not to eat it. Maybe it is a step in the right direction though.

    Hi, I was wondering which brands of hot dogs are NOT gluten-free. I usually get Oscar Mayer and Hebrew National but my children want a change. What dogs are NOT gluten-free? I know the hot dogs with cheese often have gluten, but I am looking for regular all meat hot dogs and thought it might be easier if I knew what brands NOT to get. Thanks!

    I was wondering what celiacs have been getting at Burger King recently, and if you would be willing to share that with me. I have not checked in awhile. The website lists food with allergens, but only wheat is a common allergen so I am not sure about the food containing other no-no's for celiac patients. Thanks!!

    As a rule we stay FAR away from Midel cookies and EnerG everything, not just the bread!!! My daughter hated the canned spaghetti at first but now eats it once in awhile.     Many stores carry plastic juice box holders that prevent the box from being squeezed and the juice spilling. They are not available for the small juice boxes though. I have found they are great for the younger kids. However, the child does need to learn eventually, and trial and error is eliminated if the juice is never spilled!!!

    I think it is best to start out quite slowly. The food is expensive so going out and buying everything at once will blow your budget. In the beginning there will most likely be a lot of wasted food. It is nice to hear recommendations from other celiacs, but there is no guarantee that your child will like a particular brand just because someone else likes...

    Please let us know what cruise line was the easiest to deal with. I am interested in going on a cruise and would like some input. I have heard that the larger the ship the easier it is to get special dietary accomodations.

    I know at Six Flags in Mass people bring food and go to the car to eat when they want it, then go back into the park after. I think bringing food in your pocketbook or small lunchbox would be fine. The worst that can happen is the staff at the gate would tell you to return it to your car. They have a gluten-free product guide that is the absolute best! The $25 cost is well worth it.     That is too bad you were told that. Did you ask why a little gluten would be alright, but alot wouldn't? It does not make sense to me! A long while back, I heard about celiacs outside the US being told low-gluten was fine, but I thought that had been settled and was not happening any longer.

    I think it is normal for a child to do sneaky things like your child is doing. It probably does not have to do with the diet, more likely that he is testing you and his limits.     My husband did not know the chocolate chip cookie was gluten-free until I told him. This was a first in our house, someone not recognizing food as gluten-free. The food is ridiculously expensive though, but I will spend the money for the taste my daughter loves. We cannot believe how happy she is with those cookies!
