  1. Thank you so much for this list! I will be armed with it as I go searching ingredients on the rest of my makeup and other skin care products!

    ARCHIVED Dh Diagnostics?

I'm having trouble locating information to spoon-feed the doctor on how to properly do the correct biopsies. I want to make SURE, that without a doubt, the doctor KNOWS exactly what to do. The GI who did my colonoscopy/endoscopy didn't even bother to do the biopsies (He " didn't SEE any damage..." GRRR....), so I want to make sure things are done right.
  3. I guess I'm very fortunate as my husband is beyond supportive. His attitude is 'we'll do whatever it takes to get you feeling better. All I want is for you to be better.' I'm in the process of doing an elimination diet and we're working through the kitchen (he's working on eating all of the gluten-containing foods in the pantry and as he finishes those, we...
  4. I've tried searching the forum, but cannot seem to find any info on proper biopsy/diagnostics for DH. I believe that these 'spots' on the sides of my neck, behind my ears, on my jawline, scalp, etc. are DH and am planning to go to my Family Doctor this week (or attempt to anyway) and have him take a look. Can anyone give me more info that I can pass on to...
  5. Hi! Someone posted something about an OTC Genetic Test in response to my earlier post. I'm very curious about it. Can anyone provide more info?
  6. May I ask who this doctor is?
  7. That's good you're having symptom relief from the diet, and they "gave you permission" to keep doing what you're doing. (eye roll.....) Thank you for the laugh! I really needed that! You can always get an otc genetic test if you're curious about if you're carrying the genes predisposing you to it.

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Tx?

Thank you! I'm actually seeking out groups now. There isn't one near here, but I've scouted out the web sites of one in San Antonio and one in Dallas. I think the one in SA looks promising and I'm going to get ahold of them. My husband and I will be there in November anyway, so we'll stay another day or two if it means getting in with a competent doctor!

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Tx?

Can anyone recommend a GOOD doctor in TX: San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Abeline? I live in San Angelo and today had a VERY bad experience with the GI I had been referred to here (more details in my post in the pre-diagnosis forum). We're willing do drive to find a GOOD doctor that actually KNOWS about Celiac Disease and LISTENS to patients and takes them seriously...
  10. So I had a colonoscopy/endoscopy with biopsy two weeks ago and my follow-up appointment was today. Well, apparently the doctor couldn't be 'bothered' to do the correct biopsy, DESPITE having very specifically requested Celiac testing with the nurse practitioner during my initial appointment with her. He did biopsies of the esophagas and stomach, but NOTHING...
  11. I get these on the roof of my mouth and (primarily) under my tongue. I agree, they are DEFINATELY NOT canker sores (I get those nasty things, too) and do not hurt. They'll stick out far enough to be a bit of an annoyance, but I just 'pop' them and then they are gone seemingly right away.
  12. Thank you so much, Patti! Fingers crossed that it is my ticket for some sleep tonight!
  13. Hi! Does anyone know if the Irwin Naturals Power to Sleep PM is gluten free? The lable doesn't include that it contains gluten, but it also doesn't list it as gluten free. One of the listed ingredients is Hops extract (4:1)(strobile) and I'm not exactly sure what that is. Please help! I need sleep...
  14. Hi! I've only just been gluten-free for not even two weeks now, but have already experienced quite a bit of symptom relief. Yesterday, my husband and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch after church. I VERY carefully went over the 'allergin' list to decide on my meal (which should have been not only gluten-free, but dairy free, nut free, soy free, egg...
  15. Honestly, I suspect that the waitress made a mistake when she took re-rang the meal and took the first one off. I've worked in restaurants off and on for about 18 years now and have NEVER EVER charged anyone for food that was sent back, if anything, BOTH meals are comped. I'd definately talk to the manager about both the charge for the meal sent back and...

    ARCHIVED Benedryl

I use Benedryl(at bedtime) along with Melatonin(an hour before bedtime) if I'm having a bad night. For me, insomnia means I got some cc somewhere, so be sure you're not getting a small dose somehow? This has only started after I went gluten-free. I was sleeping very well (very sound) before going gluten-free. Also, be sure to take a calcium and multi...

    ARCHIVED Benedryl

Hi! Not sure if this is the best forum for posting this question, but here goes... I'm normally a VERY sound sleeper and can sleep through ANYTHING. Ever since I went gluten free, I've been not sleeping well, very light, waking up often, and just having a difficult time getting to sleep. Would benedryl be safe to take to kind of help me over the hump to...
  18. Continue to read all labels. I was surprised to see wheat flour in my cooking spray. Some candies and ice cream have gluten, even one of my favorite sausages has it. My daughters and I have had the same reaction with weight as yourself. I could gain 5 lbs over night it seemed. When I asked doc they said it was age, it happened. One of my daughters dropped...
  19. Oh yes, and one of the most uncomfortable symptoms is a bleeding, swollen hemorroid... Please help. I will love to have any advise or insight. I can't keep going on like this. Hi! While I can't help with your initial question, I can testify to what has happened with my severe, bleeding hemmrroids. Within a week of going gluten-free, all of the bleeding...
  20. Thank you! I guess I need to check all of my makeup products also. I hadn't thought of that! I *think* it's probably all ok. I have always had severe skin allergies and have had to read labels on all of my skin products carefully, but I will check them again specifically for gluten containing ingredients.
  21. And I just now checked all of my shower products. Everything is good except my shampoo/conditioner. I was actually pretty shocked! So now my next question, is the concern with that over the possibility of ingestion? Or can the gluten absorbable through the skin? If I'm VERY careful about not getting it into my mouth, can I use up what I have? Or should I...
  22. Oh, and I just thought of another question. Should I make sure my husband brushes his teeth after he eats something with gluten? Last night he was eating cheetos and then kissed me. Would this be enough exposure to give me problems?
  23. Hi, Everyone! I'm new here, but have been lurking for about 3-4 days now. I have to say how much I'm already LOVING finding you all! Anyway, I'm currently waiting on my biopsy results from my colonoscopy/endoscopy done 9 days ago (appointment is in another 5 days). I took it upon myself to start a full-fledged elimination diet immediately following...
