  1. I had my gallbladder removed years before I started having celiac issues and it was a long long recovery for me. I had alot of pain and nausea for weeks afterwards, I know people who had very smooth recoveries but I was not one of them. Hope things settle down for you.
  2. Sometimes a big whiny vent is exactly whats called for - I usually start with a glass of wine and then let all the negative feelings ooze on out. I just found out that after 3 months of gluten free living, my endoscope findings showed major damage so obviously I have had to buckle down even more, I havent been depressed til now but seeing all that hard...
  3. Yes I am finding that I dont do well after eating things like soy and whole grain rice, am trying to avoid soy but its in almost as many things as gluten. So mostly am trying to eat unprocessed foods for now and I started acupuncture again as I found in the past that it really helped my IBS. It definitely has smoothed out the wildly fluctuating hormones...
  4. I was an experienced label reader pre-celiac diagnosis because of sulfite and msg intolerances and I still get caught. I get home and see barley malt very clearly written on a label I read 3 times in the store, and try to figure out how I missed it so I went to the whole foods pretty early on. It was either that or hire a personal shopper. I didnt know then...
  5. My horse died a couple years ago just around the time I was getting sick so I havent replaced her but I do still have some sheep. A month ago I glutened myself by breathing in dust from the sheep ration. I was reaching down into the bottom of the conatainer and at the time I remember thinking - this is pretty stupid, I should be wearing a mask.....well now...
  6. Oh I am happy to hear that the neuro stuff sometimes gets worse after going gluten free, I was worried that I was working on yet another immune disease or growing a big ole brain tumor... I think I need to stop obsessing for a while. Thanks for the summaries, they are really helpful.
  7. Oh I looked back at my food journal - I had mistakenly bought frozen edamane beans instead of lima beans and the nights that I had those for supper, bloating, gi, fatigue and spacey feelings followed. I dont usually eat soy products so had not even considered that being the problem. Thanks for the tip and I will stay away from soy and see what happens...
  8. When I first went off gluten, I HAD TO HAVE CHOCOLATE. I could have eaten it for breakfast lunch and supper, that passed and then it was potato chips. Thankfully my cravings have passed but for a while there I was not sure whose body I was living in cause it sure wasn't mine! I think it probably takes our bodies some time to re-boot after the gluten is...
  9. I have been finding that if I get overtired or stressed at work or even when out trying to get errands done, it will bring on a milder form of gluten reactions, I have found that if I can relax and calm myself or just take a break and rest, that the symptoms will go away - I am pretty new to this so am not ruling out that it could be lingering effects from...
  10. I was always able to fight off stomach flu's, while others around me got really sick, I only ever had mild symptoms - until last winter. Then the flu would hang on for weeks. I've been off gluten for 3 months now and hopefully my poor gut has healed enough that I wont be sick as much. And why do the docs tell you to stop eating gluten immediately only...
  11. Hi everybody I'm from PEI, since I've been diagnosed I found that there are alot of celiacs on the island so finding gluten free food has been pretty easy Just visited my brother in Beamsville, Ont and they took me to the Farmers Market there where I got the most amazing gluten-free pita bread - I think it was from Barb's Frozen Pitas - they are also...
  12. Thanks everybody, I definitely could still be getting cc'd, I used a spoon that was lying on the counter to stir my tea at the neighbors and was sick for 2 days! Live and learn. The neuro signs (without cc) started a week after that exposure and I never thought about it still being a lingering reaction. For now, when I feel spacey, I tell my boss I have...
  13. Hi everyone. I have been gluten-free for 2 months now and was wondering if anyone has experienced neuro signs (ataxia, anxiety, "spacey" feeling like being off balance) without gluten exposure. I have been cc'd 3 times that I know of and these symptoms started about 4 hours after contamination along with some g.i. problems. However on a couple of occassions...
