    ARCHIVED A.D.D.

Thanks. Multiple postings prob A.D.D. symptom. Its a lot better but not gone. I think the gluten intolerance might make you more susceptible to diseases or magnify the symptoms if you already have them. Thanks for helping this rookie out! I especially want to help kids so they dont have to go through what I did-just think-eating gluten can be the cause of...

    ARCHIVED A.D.D.

Here is something interesting. I used to be an avid reader, but last year, during my second vegetarian phase, I lost all desire to read. This along with mild depression. This happened the first time I went vegan too. It had to be increased consumption of bread and pasta to make up for lack of meat. Now being gluten free for a month, I am back to enjoying...
  3. It is my understanding, correct me if I am wrong, that one of the factors contributing to abdominal distension, apart from food malabsorption, is intestinal inflammation. I guess it would be like a swollen joint, except you cant feel it because of the lack of nerves in the intestines. If this is correct, wouldnt anti-inflammatories help? What about using...
  4. I have been off glutem for a month now, and I have noticed my heartburn is gone, and so is my itchy bum. Bloating, gurgling, and nausea remains. I wonder if maybe my insides are healing from the ends towards the middle? Sounds sill, but I have noticed I am losing a bit of weight, and my face and lower legs are getting thinner, but my belly is still huge...
  5. Does anyone have sneezing as a symptom? I will often sneeze for no apparent reason. Now that I am gluten free its gotten worse, and I dont have a cold or allergies.
  6. The bloated belly/faux 9 months pregnant look seems to affect the gals more than the guys, or at least they are more willing to share, as is usually the case with health problems. Most guys my age probably accept a pot belly, but since I am a light eater, non drinker, and exercise fanatic I knew it wasnt 'my fault'. Any other guys like me with a pregnant...
  7. This seems to be a common symptom, and my main one. Is my belly hard and distended because of trapped gas, or is it inflammed and swollen?
  8. Hi I have been working out regularly for the past ten years (52 year old male). Other than better cardio, and a slightly firmer body, you would never know I exercise as miuch as I do. I wonder if glutemn intolerance in some way impedes any gains? Just recently I am able to jog every day, when before I needed at least two days to 'recover'. Thanks for your...
  9. I always thought my inability to lose weight was a slow metabolism, although my doctor said my thyroid was fine. Being gluten free for a month I am starting to lose a bit. Anybody else have this issue and does gluten affect the thyroid/metabolism?
  10. Anyone else suffer from this? Is it a symptom of gluten intolerance?

    ARCHIVED A.d.h.d.

I was diagnosed with adult A.D.H.D. a few years ago-had it since childhood. Anyone else? I think it is a symptom. My mind is a bit more relaxed in the past couple gluten free weeks.
  12. Does anyone have suggestions for supplements that could help, especially the digestive and bloating issues. Have tried enzymes, probiotics-didnt help much. Thanks.
  13. Does anyone have an idea how to cope with bread cravings? I was brought up eating toast every morning and sandwhiches for lunch. The only gluten free bread here is 'Glutino' which is OK but I am getting tired of it.
  14. Thanks! I am drinking more water because for some reason I am thirstier-never was much of a water drinker. Maybe my body is asking for water to flush out the toxins???
  15. Hi I am a 52 year old guy. Distended abdomen is my main symptom with I.B.S. BUT I am not fat I eat light and work out-in fact I have a faint six pack! I used to do TONs of situps to flatten it-didnt work just built up the muscles! I look like a typical old guy with a belly till I take my shirt off. Is been a month and am starting to see a bit of shrinkage...
  16. Hi I have been gluten free for a month and no longer crave alcohol. They say you crave what you are allergic to. To me it was beer and toast! I had one drink last night I got a allergic respons and felt sleepy maybe my tolerance has lessened. I could never tolerate it anyway three beers and I was a clown! Good luck.
  17. Hi A few days ago, after approx. one month gluten free, I thought I had caught a 'bug'. I had my flu shot, and dont normally catch much but a short lived cold. This is my fourth day and each day I get different symptoms-I wonder if this is whats called a 'healing crisis'? -first day felt tired with head cold symptoms-stayed home sick -second day felt better...
  18. Hi I am a 52 year old guy. I have always had trouble managing my weight, especially the size of my belly. Its not really fat just distended like a pregnant lady. My Dad and uncles all had the same symptoms. Sadly they all passed fron colorectal cancer. As for the celiac symtoms, I have almost all of them. They seem to come during periods of stress in my...
