  1. I enjoyed one of my first gluten free dining experiences. Both my son and husband tried my gluten free veggie pizza and thought it tasted good!
  2. I just had my first GI appt on Thursday. The doc ordered an endoscopy as well as more labs to check for vitamin levels. I can't speak to what they will do for a child. Good luck getting answers.
  3. Awesome! For someone starting out it helps so much to hear of your success with gluten free. Congratulations!
  4. I had my appointment today and the doctor's first words after reviewing my lab results were "you definitely have celiac disease." I now have an endoscopy scheduled to make sure nothing else is going on, a DEXA scan and additional labs ordered (vitamins, iron recheck, and some others). He gave me copies of my labs: tTG-IgG Ab - 42 Endomysial IgA -...
  5. Your story sounds similar to mine. It started with weird eye issues after the birth of my son 6 years ago. The nausea and tummy issues started a couple years later. Actually I had some tummy issues years ago and was told it was IBS and to eat more fiber so of course I upped my whole wheat intake. YIKES! From what I'm gathering it's just going to take...
  6. I have my first GI appt this Thursday so I called my primary care office to get the lab results sent to the GI doc and spoke with a nurse today. Previously when they called to refer me to the GI doc they simply indicated that my iron was low and I was positive for celiac. I asked about specific numbers today. I'm going to ask for a copy at my appt on Thursday...
  7. I didn't make a copy of the lab order but I believe it was considered the full celiac panel. I know it was trans... something or other and antibody... I am going to ask for a copy of the results. When the nurse called me she indicated I was positive but didn't give me specific numbers.

    ARCHIVED First Gi Doc Appt

I have my first GI doc appt on thursday after a positive blood test and referral from primary doc. What should I expect? I suspect he's going to want to do an endoscopy. In online research I also found out that the hospital where my husband works (about 45 minutes away) has a celiac speciality clinic and they are involved in a lot of celiac research...
  9. After my celiac diagnosis a few weeks ago I am starting to put the pieces of the puzzle together. I always thought my yellow teeth were just because of coffee and tea drinking. Now I believe it's likely the celiacs. I have tried some of the OTC whitening products in the past without much luck. Does anyone know if a professional whitening procedure will...
  10. So true on the beer! I have tried Redbridge and New Planet tread lightly ale and they don't come close to Yeungling. The Woodchuck ciders are quite good. I think it's going to just take time to find my new favorites. I am about 3 weeks into the diet and I definitely had a woe is me day today!
  11. I'm just a few weeks into the diet and am noticing the same thing - seemed especially bad in the shower this morning. The good news is the hunger has tapered off!
  12. I was recently diagnosed. While I intend to make our family meals gluten free I really don't want to switch the rest of my family to a full gluten free diet. Peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat is my kids staple. I need some tips on how I can effectively segregate their gluten foods to avoid cc. Has anyone been able to do this? I keep reading these...
  13. Hi. I am new here as well. I have read celiac has a huge variety of symptoms. Good luck with getting answers! I just got a positive blood test and I am reorder that I now have an explanation for my strange and varying symptoms.
  14. I don't have a membership currently to either. I used to have one to Costco but decided I was wasting too much time (the place is a madhouse) and money. I know they sell gluten free crackers for good prices in bulk. I'm considering re-joining because I also want to increase my fruits and veggies and their quality was always very good. What other gluten...
  15. Yes. I got them a lot too. I've only been gluten free a short time but no canker sores since going Gluten-free. I did also switch to the a toothpaste without SLR because I was so fed up with the painful mouth sores and trying everything. I use Pronamel toothpaste.
  16. I did a 3 week trial and then decided I wanted testing because my own trial was somewhat inconclusive. My doc had me eat gluten for 2 weeks before doing blood work but it sounds like it really varies what is recommended. My test did show positive for celiac after 2 weeks on gluten.
  17. I'm new to celiacs - still have a lot to learn. I self-diagnosed to some extent realizing that many of my symptoms were linked to celiacs (gas/bloating, nausea, mild headaches, canker sores, mild anemia). I tend to avoid doctors so I did my own trial for about 3 weeks. I wasn't noticing much difference so I started eating gluten again and then headaches...
  18. Thanks Sharilee. I made an appointment for 3/22 with a GI doctor who will likely order the Endoscopy. I'm happy to hear it was an easy procedure. Were you prescribed steroids to help with the healing? I'm wondering how often that is done.
  19. I just received the blood test results which showed positive for celiacs. I have suspected it for several months and part of me is relieved with the diagnosis in hopes that it will take care of many of my symptoms: frequent nausea, gas/bloating, mild anemia, headaches and eye issues in the past which I believe are related. I'll be making an appt with a...
