  1. When I went gluten-free I felt better right afterwards too...but then relapsed off and on for a long time. They're right....it took me a long time to really get a strict gluten-free diet too. I remember going out to eat a week or so after I started trying to be gluten-free.. I thought it would be ok to eat the filling out of an egg roll as long as I didn...
  2. Hi everybody, I know that celiac disease is not commonly understood by the average person and I really am not bothered too much when people ask me stupid questions like "So can you eat corn?" However, all I ask is to be left alone to picking what foods I do or don't want to eat... Most of the people around me are really understanding, my mom and dad don...
  3. Thanks for your help guys! It's a crest toothpaste so I guess it's not that. I'm feeling a lot better today than I did yesterday! Most of my cosmetics are gluten-free. I have a leave in conditioner that contains gluten. I wash my hands after using it though and it hasn't given me any trouble that I know of. I'd hate to give it up....I LOVE that stuff...
  4. I don't know what to think...this is the sickest I've been in a long time and I have no idea what is doing it to me. I've been getting progressivly worse for the last week and nothing is sticking out in my mind as containing the "evil" substance. The only thing I can think of that I have done differently is I've used a different toothpaste. I don't have...
  5. I've had night sweats as long as I can remember (probably had celiac disease too, but wasn't diagnosed) It doesn't really bother me as much because I'm used to it, but my husband won't let me get near him when I sleep because he says I'm too hot. In fact he says he can tell when I'm starting to fall asleep because I "pre-heat" The weird thing is the...
  6. I suppose I just thought that beer was never going to be something I ever tasted again when I was diagnosed.....I'm sure a lot of you have tried Bard's Tale Beer, but until today I hadn't! I didn't even know about it until last week! We live in a small town so we have to drive an hour and a half to find most gluten-free products. I had today off so I took...
  7. I just wanted to let everyone know so you are cautious. Steak and Shake Chili is on their Gluten Free menu and I usually get the Chili Delux (chili with cheese and onions on top mmmmmm....) but the last two times I've got it I got down to the bottom of my bowl and, lo and behold, there was a noodle! I guess they put the chili on top of noodles for their...
  8. Oh a dermoid cyst. That is different. I have a friend that had one, but she was little when she had it. I think she was 12 when she had it removed. I guess you can have them in different places too, not just your ovaries. Conciquently my friends' was on her ovary too though. I wish I knew more about that so I could offer some help. On they bright side...
  9. Hi Gabrielle Overian cysts are actually a normal occurance. Everyone gets them each month when they ovulate. The problem occurs when the cyst won't let go of your ovary. I have had two cysts removed. One was tennis ball sized and one was orange sized. If your cyst is large like that they may opt to go in and remove it. (Not a big deal...they go in through...
  10. egardner I know exactly what you mean! I hear all the time that I have plenty of time and I shouldn't be worried about it, or that we have only been married a year and we should take our time. I get sick of hearing it....I just want to tell them they don't know the whole story and its really none of their business...I usually just smile and nod though...
  11. I'm 24 yrs old and I've been gluten free for about a year. I felt the same way as you when I was diagnosed! My friends in college used to make fun of me because I LIVED off McDonalds! I didn't like to cook and loved to eat out! The night I was diagnosed I remember looking in my cabinet and crying. I had a can of peas for dinner that night. However,...

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

I have dreams like that all the time that I just grab something with out thinking and start eating it! The funny thing is I never even liked pizza that much but 9 out of 10 of my dreams like that are about pizza! Go figure....
  13. I'm soooo in the same place as you right now! I'm 24 and have been married a little over a year. I was diagnosed with celiac disease about a year ago and I have had 4 surgeries for endometriosis and ovarian cysts. My husband is a little leary still about being a daddy, but I really want to start trying. I guess partly because if we go ahead and have a...
  14. I love everybody's posts! I've never really talked about this stuff with anybody besides my husband before....and as understanding as he is......he just doesn't relate! I took a job with a company that was to be moving to my town in a few months, but for the time being it was in a town an hour away. I had just got done with lunch when "the urge" struck...
  15. If I have a dietary acceident I'm usually C for several days, but then all of a sudden I'll have D.....It's a welcomed change by that point and usually I sign that I'm getting over it...

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

At my last job, we took turns making goodies for each other for our birthdays. When my birthday came around I told them not to worry about making me anything since its so hard to find gluten-free cake mixes and things in the small town we live in. The girl that got my name in the birthday exchange was very sweet though and was kind enough to drive 45 min...
  17. I was diagnosed with IBS as well before going gluten free. My IBS medication wasn't helping one bit, and my mom read an article about the high percentage of people with Celiac Disease that were being mis-diagnosed with IBS. As it turns out I have several aunts/uncles, grandparents, and great grandparents with celiac disease. That was all the convincing...
