  1. Very interesting! I've always had problems with my eyes! My vision is something like 20/140 and has been since I was about 8. They put me in hard contacts when I was 10 to try to stop the rapid change in my vision. It worked. I haven't had any rapid changes since then. However I have night vision problems, blurred vision that comes and goes, and very...
  2. I just found out the answer to my earlier question and I thought I would share it with you guys. The drink that my doctor's office gives for the glucose test is NOT gluten-free! I have to go in for a blood test instead now, which isn't a big deal, but I just thought all of you pregnant ladies might like to know that. I don't know if there are different...
  3. LOL Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one! I remember the days when I never had a reason for poop conversations. Now days I talk to my husband, my mom, my doctor, my pharmasist, everybody on this board.....sometimes I'm just amazed how many people know so much about me! I broke down and called my OBGYN earlier....they are refering me to a GI...
  4. Did you check with your Dr. to make sure your prenatal vitamin if gluten-free? I didn't have any trouble getting one, but it's just something to check on....especially since you are going to be taking it every day for the next 9 months I wish I had a magical cure for morning sickness....but I don't! Really the thing that I found most helpful (and I know...
  5. Maybe mention getting seperate butter dishes. My husband just know to get out as much butter as he needs on the first dip and not to put the knife back in there. So we just have one dish, but for your situation a seperate butter dish might be a better solution.
  6. Well, throughout my pregnancy I've had a stuffy nose, but my OBGYN has told me that is normal for a pregnant woman, because hormone make the linning in your nose swell.. No fever at all. I've been getting a dull pain in my abdomen all day though. I would think if it was an infection of some sort I would have a fever, but I don't know. This really all...
  7. First of all Congratulations!!! It totally normal to be worried at this stage in the game too! I'm 6 months pregnant and just now starting to relax some! I understand your concerns. Pregnancy puts you in such a fragile situation. It opens up possibilities not only for great joy, but also pain. Stay close to your Dr. and ask them ANYTHING you need to...
  8. You know, you would think that by now I would be more comfortable with talking about poop, but here I am and I'm still not. Let me just appoligize in advance for the grossness of this post. I'm not sure what is going on, if it is gluten or something else. My poop has been pretty normal, make that exceptionally normal (it's sad when a 25 year old woman...
  9. Oh my...I've had nightmares about doing stuff like that! When I first saw the post I figured you had drank the whole thing. Since you only drank a little you probably wont have as sever a reaction. If you are a beer lover, you might try Bard's Tale beer. They get a little over-zelous with the carbonation sometimes, but it's a lot better for you than...
  10. I just wanted to share with you guys what a great experience we had a Outback last night. We live 2 hours from the nearest Outback, but opted to take the drive last night because, as many of you know, they have a gluten-free brownie dessert that is to die for!! I think I caught our waitress off guard when I asked for the gluten-free menu. She was new and...
  11. Sure thing! Do you live somewhere sunny and warm?? I could use a vacation!!
  12. I had wondered the same thing. I don't know if we are at higher risk for gestational diabetes. I'm having the glucose test in about 2 weeks. Does anybody know if the drink you have to take for the test is gluten-free?
  13. Just an update....I went into our Krogers yesterday and talked to the manager about carrying gluten-free products in the future. She was REALLY nice and so helpful it actually caught me off-guard! She said that someone else had been in the last few weeks and asked her the same question! Then she asked me what I wanted for them to carry and took down a...
  14. we use: one beaten egg 1/2 cup of rice flour 1/2 cup of corn starch 1/2 cup of chicken broth and a little seaseme oil (to keep the batter from sticking to the fryer) Makes GREAT sweet and sour pork!
  15. I understand what you guys are saying, and to be honest I think I might have thought the same thing 5 years ago. By the time I heard about the gluten-free diet I was willing to try ANYTHING! I think if someone had come up to me and told me that a strict diet of radishes and anchovies would help I probably would have given it a try! It's just too bad...
  16. Oh LOL well, if your ever in Bloomington Illinois it's right downtown!
  17. I got a response back this morning! I just went to Kroger.com and wrote an e-mail to the corporate offices. Here is what I wrote: To whom it may concern, I have a condition called Celiac disease that affects one out of every 133 people in the United States. It is an auto-immune disorder that can only be controlled by a very strict life-long gluten...
  18. This just inspired me to write a letter to Krogers! Our store is pretty small, but I don't know why they couldn't at least carry rice flour and some gluten-free crackers or something! I'll let you know if it does any good to complain about it
  19. No kidding! My Kroger doesn't carry any gluten-free food! I think they could take some tips from that Kroger!
  20. Kinnickinnick makes all the goodies! I just found chocolate dipped donuts and cinnimon buns at a health food store in Bloomington! MMMMMM Just thinking about it makes me want to go get a donut!
  21. Nope USA
  22. Grrrr what is wrong with her! Take comfort in the fact that she is not only rude and obnoxious, but also ignorant. I have heard of people "following" the gluten-free diet by choice rather than neccessity. I'm not sure why....it seems pointless. Anyway, maybe that is what she was refering to as the "fad". At any rate I would have corrected her that Celiac...
  23. Once you get used to this diet you find out that you really have a lot of options! For breakfast I usually have a combination of the following: fruit w/ coolwhip yoplait yogurt home-made toast (good as cinnimon toast too ) kinnickinnick donuts or cinnimon rolls....mmmmm hashbrowns (most but not all Orida potato products are gluten-free) juice...
  24. I haven't been yet either, but I've found a class that I'm going to join after I have my baby. Everybody says it's a great way to get your stomach muscles back in shape after having a baby. I hope so! I'm ready to have a waist again!
