I'm one of those people that wants a real diagnosis. I feel like it's important to getting proper health care, and no gastroenterologist is going to take me as a patient without a diagnosis. Unfortunatly for me, when the posibility of celiac disease came up for what was making me sick, I was under the care of a family doc that didn't know anything about...

ARCHIVED Any Wildland Firefighters In Here?
cgilsing replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Mountainman! I'm definatly not a wildland firefighter, but I saw your post and I found some MREs that you can buy online that are gluten-free....If you go to Open Original Shared Link they have several of different options. It looks like at the moment they are out of a couple of them, but you might contact them to see if they will be getting more. I... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good At All?
cgilsing replied to Carolita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm a totally different person than the one that started the gluten-free diet 2 years ago! I am healthy, happy, and feel good most of the time. I still have a bad time if I accidentally eat something I shouldn't, but 95% of the time I couldn't feel better.....that didn't happen over night though. I was actually just thinking about how long it was before... -

ARCHIVED Sitting In My Office With Gas!
cgilsing replied to erin24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh yeah....I think we all know how you feel! (unfortunatly.......or maybe its unfortuante for our co-workers ) At least you were lucky enough to have a day when most were out of the office! You know I've often wondered if other wives are as open with their husbands as I am with mine. I've come home dropped my stuff and exclaimed ""I had SUCH a bad day!... -
It happens almost instantaniouly for me. I'll be 1/2 way through a glass of wine and someone will mention that I'm looking strange! I don't get pimply, but it is different from a normal flushed look too. My cheeks, nose, and somtimes spots around my eyebrows get bright red. The affected areas are really defined too. The areas not affected are my usual...

ARCHIVED Getting Glutened And Pregnancy
cgilsing replied to ptjamie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm 32 weeks pregnant, and was also really worried at first about being glutened. I have been accidentally glutened a couple of times during my pregnancy, but it really doesn't seem to have affected him! He is in the 60 percentile for weight, very active, and developing nicely...even has hair! I think you will suffer more if you are glutened when you... -
Strangely enough for me it's not all alcohol. It's not even all wines! Wine seems to be the most common alcohol that causes it, but I know I hav drank a mixed drink and had it happen too.....I can't remember now what it was though....it's been so long since I've had a drink!! I can't figure out what the link the between the things that bother me are either...

ARCHIVED Giving Up Celiac Diet
cgilsing replied to happy4dolphins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Nicole - I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving us..... I understand though, given you don't have a possitive diagnosis. Did you not have any luck as far as feeling better is concerned either? Celiac or not, I know you must have problems that led you here. Whatever it is, I urge you to persue a diagnosis for what is making you sick. Good luck to... -

ARCHIVED Shakenbakes
cgilsing replied to jinches's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been making a home-made mix for shake 'n bake chicken that is very good! 2 cups RICE flour 2 tbs paprika 4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp garlic powder melt 1/4 cup of butter in the bottom of a pan, then take boneless skinless chicken thighs and shake them around with the mix in a freezer bag.....place the chickin in the pan with butter. Cook on one side... -
I have heard that too! I haven't heard it about strawberries in particular, but that a lot of people have an allergy to berries in general!
-
Out of all of that I would suspect the ham first too.....is there any chance you could have an allergy to the strawberries?
-
What did you have for dinner? I often feel dazed and drugged after being glutened....I would think that it may be the culprit, but it's hard to say without knowing what may have caused it...

Hi Jen! I've never been diagnosed with Rosacea, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is......my grandma had it too....For me it's wine that triggers it the most, but hot showers can do it too. And once I was eating a fruit salad when it flared up.... I only get about half way through a glass of wine when I start looking splotchy For me avoiding the trigger...

ARCHIVED Quick Fix (nulev) Does It Really Work?
cgilsing replied to DarcyandMike's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow! I'm going to ask about that! That sounds GREAT! It would be a lot better if it worked on bloating too, but even so! If I was bloated, but not in pain, it would be so much easier to get through a glutening! Thanks for the info! -
ARCHIVED Advise Please? Warning - Long!
cgilsing replied to qwertyui's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I sooooo understand! I have the same sort of problem at my in-laws house. I have tried over and over to explain, but they just don't "get it". Really I can't blame them, because it is a lot to "get" if you don't do it on a daily basis. They seemed offended at first about me wanting to bring my own food, or refusing to eat things that I was concerned baout... -
I agree that waiting a while might be a good decision. That way your body can have some time to heal! When you do decide to try going to restaurants again, I would call their corporate offices first and talk to a customer service rep. I usually do this, and have had much better results from them, than from your individual waiter/waitress. They can guide...

I've been worried about that bug too! My mom and dad both had something last weekend that was pretty nasty. Lots of vomiting and diarrea. They are convinced they ate something bad (as it went away quickly), but people at my work have had it too. I would just go to the Dr. as soon as you see symptoms. In the meantime, think happy thoughts and maybe you...

I work at a retail store by myself all day, and during slow times it can be pretty lonely so I called up my mom and was chatting with her. Then all of a sudden the vision in my left eye got weird and it looked like I was looking through a beveled glass. I told my mom about it and she said she was coming down (she lives an hour and 15 min. away though, so...

From GP....."The way they diagnose celiac disease is by trying the gluten-free diet and seeing if it works" From the GP who was trying to explain the gluten-free diet....."You can still eat pasta!" From the 1st GI while discussing malnutrition and C...."Well you can't be malnurised uless you have D" My reply......"what about the whole damaged...

ARCHIVED Dried Minced Onions?
cgilsing replied to cgilsing's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The ribs were GREAT! I went ahead and ate them (I couldn't let them go to waste! )....I figured they were probably fine! We have a local grocery that has the best cuts of meat! Their ribs are always good! -
ARCHIVED Dried Minced Onions?
cgilsing posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just a quick question all! I am making BBQ sauce for ribs right now and have added Kroger Dried Minced Onions to the mix....the labeling doesn't have an ingredient list so I assumed it must just be Dried Minced Onions....but I'm 2nd guessing myself now. Don't you guys think if there was anything else in there they would be required to have an ingredient...
