They had a whole segment about celiac disease yesterday! The child was having seizures, not thriving, developmental problems, but no GI symptoms. The mom had celiac disease and ended up putting the pieces together herself (figures ) Anyway, it was a really good show! They actually spent some time talking about it!

I'm terrible about blushing Once I feel the heat rising in my face it's all over! I'm embarassed that I'm blushing and so I blush......I end up looking like a tomato! Even my chest and sholders break out in red blotchy hives if I'm nervous

I'm not sure if it is the same as AT-1001, but it says that this research was done in the Netherlands.... Here is a link to the article: Open Original Shared Link

I'm sure there are probably plenty of posts on the topic already....but I haven't been around in a while and I'm having a hard time locating any previous discussions. Does anybody know what is happening with the research being done in regards to the new enzyme that is supposed to break down gluten and make it safe to eat??? Are they doing trials yet?...

Hey Laura! I can't believe he is that old yet either! time has just flown by! I guess I should be happy that our pedi is going ahead and refering us to a specialist. I'm just so scared they are going to tell me that he has celiac disease! It doesn't really bother me ahearing to a gluten-free diet.....but I'm not a little kid either. I just want him to... -

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Familiar To Anybody?

Ian is on Nutramigen...it's made by Enfamil. I know he is 100% gluten-free. I've been gluten-free for several years and have the diet down pat...I check EVERYTHING that gets near him! Nutramigen is a hypoallergenic formula...so maybe that is it. He has an allergy to a protien in cows milk that prevents him from even eating the lactose free formulas. ... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Familiar To Anybody?
cgilsing posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son, Ian, is 7.5 months old. His eating and bowel habits have never been normal. When he was a newborn he screamed ALL the time, had more gas than I thought possible for a newborn, projectile vomited, and EVERY diaper was dirty. They told me he had reflux and put him on Zantac, which did seem to make him happier and cut down on the gas, but his problems... -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do If There Was A Cure?
cgilsing replied to cgilsing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just to clarify, my original post was a hypothetical cure question. In reality who knows what they are going to come up with and what side affects it will have. But IF they came up with a REAL cure. How many people would take it? I guess I feel somewhat the same way that Cathy does. That this diet has been a GREAT excersize in self-control. Now that... -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do If There Was A Cure?
cgilsing posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think a couple of years ago my answer to this question would have been different. The other day I went to my mom's house and she had clipped a small article out of the newspaper about two guys at Cambridge that are working on a cure for celiac disease. It got me thinking. What would I do if there was a pill to take that would make it all better. Would... -
It took a while for my husband to get a grip on how little things would make me sick. This probably isn't the best advice, but it worked for me. I didn't dump it on him all at once. At first he seemed really frustrated by things. There was a lot of "You can't have THAT either!?! So I simplified our diets until he (and I)got used to the basics. Then little...

I second Ursula. A lot of glues have gluten in them....hmmm...glue - gluten....they even sound the same! I would suspect resin couldn't be much different.

I agree with ravenwood. This guy is being very demanding. I think his e-mail is pretty rude and I wouldn't give him feedback.

2 lb beef arm roast Hunt's tomato sauce red wine carrots potatoes onion I'm making a beef roast for tonight.....EASY meal! Makes a lot so there are left overs too. I know they say distilled vinegar and alcohol are supposed to be gluten free, but I swear I get sick any time I eat/drink them. I'd stay away! But then I get sick from McDonald's fries too (which are supposed to be ok)...so maybe it's just me on the chicken salad - I don't know where they got their chicken, but I believe some brands of canned chicken...

I was never officially diagnosed as ADD, but I'm sure that is what my problem was! At the time that I was diagnosed I had this blow off job where all that was required of me was to talk to customers and fill out a form. I can't believe they never fired me because I couldn't pay attention well enough to do that task! I would try so hard to listen to people...

So, I was reading around on the internet and came across nightblindness as a symptom of celiac disease. Maybe I just overlooked that one before, but at that point I realized - Oh yeah, I don't have trouble seeing at night anymore!! I used to be terrible! I was total white knuckles at night! My friends hated going on road trips with me becaue I would...

I'm with the mono group! Had it when I was 15 and started noticing symptoms at around the same time, but then I had a couple surgeries (and a party lifestyle) in college and things got a LOT worse after that. Someone mentioned having bladder problems earlier, and I don't think this has anything to do with my trigger (since I was 4 and 5 when it happened...

ok I think I'll do that then! The main thing that worries me is that the will be soggy, but I don't think they will be since I'm battering and frying them tomarrow. Maybe I'll try one out in the morning so if they are bad I'll still have time to come up with plan B tarnelberry, I didn't see your reply.....what happened with you previous experience...
