  1. I also have looked at the Bob and Ruth's site and think it's a GREAT idea! However, I'm not really all for group travel. I don't like to have such a structured schedual when I'm on vacation. Does anyone know if you join the Bob and Ruth club if they will offer advice for traveling to specific areas? I don't think I would really be interested in one of...
  2. I didn't wait. Lord, after giving up so many things, I needed a drink! Strangely enough though, after I started the gluten-free diet I couldn't handle as much alcohol. I used to be able to drink a lot more without feeling the effects or having a hangover. I just attributed it to the alcohol going right through me, but who know...
  3. I actually like the way the gluten-free diet has changed my life in some respects. I never really cooked much before I was diagnosed. It was just so easy to get something on the way home or go out to eat. Plus if I did cook, it was always something quick and easy like manwich. Since I started gluten-free I really found a new passion for cooking. I like...

    ARCHIVED #&$#@!% Waiting...

Wow that is ridiculous! I would definatly call and ask for my file so I could find another Dr. Do they understand that you are in constant pain?! You shouldn't be expected to suffer like that while they find time for you!

ARCHIVED Going To A New Gi

I have an appointment with a new GI on Monday, and I'm really optimistic about this guy! He is my mom and dad's GI and they are really happy with him. I finally got a referal for him after I called my Dr. with a problem (that took care of itself) a few weeks ago. I haven't been to a GI in a year and a half and had a TERRIBLE experience last time! I really...
  6. I'm sorry you don't feel good! I know it's late in the year, but the flu is really bad still too......maybe you getting sick?
  7. metamucil is gluten-free. I have taken it for C.....it didn't do me a lot of good , but it didn't make me worse either!
  8. ooohhh I'll have to look for that! I've been making mac and cheese with Tinkyada shells and Velveeta.....it's good but I really miss the box mac and cheese!
  9. I'm 27 weeks right now and have just decided that I'm not going to trust the hospital with that task! THe last thing that I want is to be sick for the week after the baby is born so I'm not going to leave anything to chance. I'm going to fix a couple meals beforehand and freeze them so that my husband can just come home, heat them up and bring them too...

    ARCHIVED Panera's

I don't know about inhaling gluten, but I do know Panera's is about the worst place for CC that you could be! I worked there in college (before diagnosis ) and EVERYTHING is covered in bread/wheat. Maybe you could have gotten something on your hands from the countertop/box of bagles/cahier's hands/etc. and then put your hands to your mouth. Just a thought...
  11. Great Article! I was the same way! Sometimes I wonder why my husband married me! I was diagnosed 3 months after we got married and was at my worst for that last 6 months. I threw fits, was depressed, panicky, and irrational. My husband is a quiet level headed guy, and really can't take drama. He has talked about the difference in me since the gluten...
  12. Hi Nicole, I'm sorry you are having so much trouble right now! It's really hard to get this diet under control I know! Especially right now, when you are already glutened and having emotional symptoms from it. I have a lot of emotional symptoms when I'm glutened too. I just had a bad episode at Christmas and immediatly fell into depression. It's hard...
  13. I LOVE it! We can even set it up to automatically pay our monthly accounts with a fixed charge! It just sends us a notice that it was paid and takes care of the rest! That was we are never late, just because we put it off or forget!
  14. I also tried them for the first time a few weeks ago! Very good! I usually share my gluten-free food at home with my hubby, but those were good enough I kept them for myself!!
  15. Well I was wondering what was for dinner tonight! I'll try that out! I haven't had quiche in I don't know how long! Sounds good!
  16. That is the one thing that I forget the most! We do our bill paying online, so the only time I have an envelope to deal with is on birthdays or for thank-you notes. It's not frequent enough and I just plain forget! I usually remember about 5 seconds after I do it, but then it's too late I'm proud of myself today though! I sent out thank you notes yesterday...
  17. I never really thought about it, but yes! Not so much if I have one accident, but before I went on the gluten-free diet I had kidney infections all the time. I'm sure my mom has celiac disease (although she is not gluten-free and has not been diagnosed with celiac disease) and she has always been prone to kidney infections too. She was actually hospitalized...
  18. I totally agree with Vincents earlier comments! I never ever cheat and I'm angry if I find out that I accidentally was glutened.....but then I get very very ill if I have even a small amount. The thought of eating a bite of cake or a cookie is very similar to my thoughts about eating chicken that has been sitting at room temp. for 2 days! I have to admit...
  19. I never ever cheat. I don't think I would enjoy it anyway knowing what is comming!
  20. I trust Kraft foods. In fact I would say that 70% of the prepackaged foods I buy are Kraft food products. The only problem I ever had with them involved Breyer's yogurt. I had called the # on the package from the grocery store and the lady answered Kraft foods. I told her that she had already anwered my question since I knew that Kraft listed gluten in...
  21. It was a really simple recipe. I used the Bob's Red Mill baking flour. I was supposed to roll it out paper thin on wax paper, cut it into 9" squares and then roll up with filling in them. They just fell apart the minute I tried to peel them off the paper, much less roll them up! The only way I could get them to stay together was to not roll them so thin...
  22. I've been fighting constipation the whole time I've been pregnant. Try going on walks as often as possible, eat dried fruit for a snack, drink lots of water, metamucil is gluten-free, avoid bananas and cheese, and if all else fails (I had a tearful conversation with my pharmasist on a Friday evening at 4:45 after finding out my OBGYN closed at 4:30 and facing...
  23. UGH I know what you mean! I hate that when I realize I was glutened by something that was only so-so to begin with! I was at my friends wedding in Georgia last June, and had made it through the reception....hadn't really eaten anything not even the cake We went back to our hotel room and I was devouring a bag of nacho cheese doritos. I was about 1/...
  24. I will have to try that! I'm on a bad cooking streak lately I just did an eggroll wrapper experiment that ended very very badly (if you should happen to come across the magic recipe for those little treats please please let me know!!) In the mean time some pastry dough that holds together sounds like just the thing to lift my spirits! Thanks!
  25. I don't know why I didn't even consider that all of my ailments could be connected before I started a gluten-free diet. But they were! 1. I couldn't sleep a wink without a tylenol pm before gluten-free...now I'm still a light sleeper, but I fall asleep fine and get plenty of rest. 2. All my skin rashes went away 3. My thinning hair...
