  1. Thanks Happy4dollphins! We couldn't be happier! Can I ask you a question? I've been wanting to ask someone who has both had children and has celiac disease.....On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the pain from glutened cramps and the pain of childbirth? I guess I'm getting a little nervous! I get sharp, nauseating D cramps when I'm glutened and...
  2. Congrats! He is a lucky guy! Keep us posted on all the plans!
  3. Carrie - You are getting married! I didn't know that! Maybe you had mentioned it somewere, but this was the first I heard! Congratulations! When is the big day?
  4. I have a LeCreuset dutch oven and a heart shaped casserole dish. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They hold up great, they cook great, and they come in pretty colors! I know I know colors aren't that important - but both are an orangey red and I just love it!
  5. I love my husband for more things than I can list here! I love that I'm going to be a mommy in just a few months! I love how the baby's nursery is coming together! (We put up a chair rail and painted all the trim cream. It's pistachio green above the rail and chocolate brown below it. Then I painted a tree (that turned out GREAT) and critters on the...
  6. I hate it that I'm old enough that things like poser-indie-emo idiots have to be explained to me! I hate that the fashion industry assumes that you don't care what you look like when you are pregnant, so either they don't offer anything at all (I was mortified to find that many department store don't even have a maternity section) or they offer cheap...
  7. This might be totally off, but I know that there are a lot of things that we all have in common that we never would have guessed to be related! I was just reading on another thread that one of our members was really prone to getting ate up by mosquitoes, and it's always been a problem for me too. I can be the only one at the party with OFF spray on and...
  8. I'm glad you are finding a few things you like! I'm sorry you are having so much trouble finding kinnickinnick though! I usually buy their products at the health food store in the frozen section, but I have bought online too. Some people have mentioned the texture of the Pamela's cookies......I always got the chocolate chunk ones because that is all our...
  9. I believe wine from anywhere is safe! German whites....mmmmm...good!
  10. Jen! I love to have the rest of the Baklava recipe if you have it! I am so excited about this! I have to admit that the process of making anything with dough usually involves me stomping and screaming, but when it turns out it is soooo worth it! I hope Brett likes phyllo dough as much as me, cuz he's gonna be getting a lot of it here pretty soon!
  11. I hear you about that! gluten-free food isn't cheap! It's not just the specialty stuff either.....this weekend my husband went and got breakefast for himself at Cracker Barrel and brought it home. His breakfast cost $4.00!!! That included biscuits and gravy, toast, and bacon!! My breakfast consisted of frozen fruit with cool whip on top, a yogurt, and...
  12. So I wonder then....I know breastfeeding is the best, but if you use a gluten-free formula (like Enfamil) and delay the introduction of gluten into the baby's diet will there be the same decrease in the instance of celiac disease later in life?
  13. This is why I love this board!! Jen did post a recipe for Bakalva earlier today!! I don't know what I would do without you guys! I never would have thought to use rice paper! This is great! What a coincidence!
  14. Jen! I cannot believe you posted this today! I was just on another thread boo-hooing about never having phyllo dough again!! Then someone told me about this thread! What are the chances!?! Thank you so much! I love this board!
  15. omg! Are you serious! I've got to find that! I didn't think it was possible!
  16. Two words.....Phyllo Dough There are so many wonderful things made with Phyllo Dough! Baklava, spinach and cheese puffs, cream cheese pastries.......the list goes on and on.....and I know damn well that I'll never be able to make gluten-free phyllo dough I walk past the frozen foods isle and I see all the phyllo dough goodies that "normal" people...
  17. Count me in! I've got long lashes! I have the same issue that was mentioned earlier that if I wear my glasses the hit the lenses ha! The strangest thing though (especally since my hair isn't even going grey yet!) is that I have one eyelash that always grows in snow white! After a few months it will fall out and then grow back just as white as before!
  18. White wine (actualy all wine to my knowledge) is gluten free! I cook with both red and white all the time!
  19. You mentioned that she was expecting her period....have you ruled out the possibility of endrometriosis? I had enrometriosis in H.S. and college and it causes sever cramps and abdominal pain. It can also cause D! In combination with celiac disease I used to have trouble distinguishing just what was was making me miserable at times. Endometriosis can present...
  20. Oh Jen did get a new avitar! My computer never automatically updates! I always have to press F5! I love when I remember to do that....I get to see all the new pictures! I think your picture looks good Jen!
  21. Wow! THank you guys so much for your responses! I went to bed last night and there were only a few and got up this morning and there were 2 pages! I'm going to go ahead and do the blood test just because....it probably won't come up with anything, but what does it hurt to try. I'm going to talk to my doctor about what exactly he wants to find with a gluten...
  22. There are a lot of really good products out there! Unfortunatlly there are a lot of bad ones too! I agree that the Tinkyada pasta is the best around, 'Cause your special mixes are really tastey and easy to make, Pamela's chocolate chunk cookies = yum!, kinnickinnick hamburger buns, donuts, english muffins....etc. are all really good! Oh and nut thin crackers...
  23. Are there different kinds of blood tests that can be done? He wants me to do a 5-marker serology panel and genetics. It lists tTgIgA, EMGIgA, Total Serum IgA, AGA IgA, and AGA IgG. I asked him today if already being on the gluten free diet would skew the results and he said no.....man now I'm even more confused. I just want to be under the care of a...
  24. Well, I did it....I went to a new GI in the hopes of finally getting an acceptable diagnosis and consistant health care. I had a really good experience! I have had trouble with this from the beginning. After years of being told my problems were due to stress or IBS my mom mentioned celiac disease as a possible cause for my problems (there are several family...
  25. I'm not sure what to think about oats. I don't currently eat them, but I have never had an obvious reaction from eating them before. I have decided that after I have the baby I'm going to try them (a little at a time) and see what happens. I know that cross-contamination is a big issue, but I'll try the Wisconsin oats. If it turns out that they don't...
