I'll try to give a short version. I have had hypothyroidism for a long time. Around the first of the year I cut my steroid (Dexomethosone) in half. It helped with inflammation and to keep my immune system from attacking me. Started gluten free in February. Stopped the rest of steroid in April. The good news is all gi issues are gone and information in...

GF Lover replied to Sieben's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All of my GI issues resolved in 3 weeks. All other issues are on "wait and see" status. -
Thanks guys. I think ill get a note from the doctor for future events, just in case. It's awful, I feel like I'm in high school with a docs note to get out of gym

Went a an O'Charleys in Mansfield ohio last night. When I asked about gluten free items she brought me their allergy book. This book covered every allergy I have aver heard of. It also had all nutritional information for all the food. How it worked is In the book it listed all the food in the restaurant. Then across the top marked with an X was the...

Usually with large sports events, concerts and the such. They don't allow food or drink inside the venue. I just went to the Memorial Golf Tournament and during the bag check I piped up and said that I need my own snacks, they are gluten free. The nice older man asked me nothing more and tagged my purse and off I went. Has anyone had a different experience...

It really upsets me that if I offer a different opinion from the norm(on the forum) that it gets completely brushed off by some posters who must think their opinion is more valuable than mine. Just because someone has a diagnosis with a condition unrelated or related to celiac, doesn't make that diagnosis wrong or frivolous. I do not go looking for...

Well, I can't tell you what you have but... I get the same sensation down half of my forearm thru my wrist and into the palm. It's that achy, burning, and a halfway numb feeling. It also goes into my thumb and the next couple fingers. It came on during a 6 month period or so, was kind of sneaky. Very shocking to me I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel....

You know it's weird, I also have malabsorbtion and I thought going gluten free would help but I lost another 10 lbs since February. I can tell it's getting worse. Mine is fat malabsorbtion and, well, you can see what your not absorbing. I hope it resolves soon and glad to hear your absorbing again. Be well.

ARCHIVED Suspected Celiac - Life-Long Unexplained Illness!
GF Lover replied to n1c0le's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Interesting you mentioned the dryness, especially eyes and mouth. Have they checked for any autoimmune issues? It is very common. And doesn't the dizziness and spots drive you nuts? It is typically called syncope and there are many degrees of it. The test for finding the specific cause is usually a tilt table test, funny, I am having one Thursday.... -

Hi Nicole and welcome. Yes, your story is all to common. I'm really glad your having the endo tomorrow. You are lucky that you have doctors that actually suspect celiac. Many others of us were considered hypochondriacs. I am 46 years old and just went gluten free this year. You should have a really good chance of resolving alot of your issues. Good luck... -
Yup, the EMG on the left arm also shoes carpel tunnel. Now I match which is good because I love semetry. I gave my daughter a hair day at the salon for her birthday. We are going today, I'm very excited for her and to spend some time with her. She works 14 and 10 hours days 6-7 days a week so we don't get a chance like this very often. Happy Memorial...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cooking School.
GF Lover replied to Stubborn red head's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
The Betty Crocker Site also has gluten free baking recipes. Be well. -
I also use PUR and I've never suspected gluten in the filters. Mine is a carbon filter (just read the box). Are you changing your filter enough?. Maybe bacteria build up? I don't know the answer but I don't think the water filtration system is the culprit. IMO. Be well

ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take?
GF Lover replied to phil1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have other conditions other than celiac, I'm talking thyroid. Arthritis, heart disease, etc, in those conditions where damage has already taken place it won't resolve 100%. You may find some relief in inflammation but the arthritis has already caused damage. Same with thyroid, you will still need meds for life. And I'm sure there are 1000's more... -
ARCHIVED Constipation
GF Lover replied to razzle51's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In many people, gastro issues resolve after gluten is removed. The time frame depends on your own body and if you are completely gluten-free. Eating only whole foods at first is the best choice Imo. -
So I finally finished the sunroom. It looks fantastic and I haven't let man nor animal in yet. You know how a husband can wreak a room just by walking thru and the dogs leave nose prints on the windows. I just need the rest of the day to enjoy then the doors open. I can hardly move tho. Every muscle, joint and even skin hurts but it's worth the price...

Hi there. Usually, your Internal Med Doc will manage all of your conditions, then refer you to specialists as needed. Also, if you have a condition such as arthritis, you would see a rheumatologist regularly without referrals. It depends on the condition and any follow up needed from the specialist. A very good internist is key. Be well.

Interesting thing happened on the way to my depression. I was in bed. (of course) and all of a sudden, with my head under the covers crying, my husband rolles in with the carpet shampooer. Dang, kicked out of bed. I believe he did it intentionally, I know I would have. Anyway, so I'm walking thru the house and WHAM, the sunroom needs spring cleaning...
