ARCHIVED Keeps Getting Weirder
GF Lover replied to mb4992's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you also have little saliva, dry mouth, making it difficult to swallow. It may be autoimmune related. First thing that comes to mind is sjogrens. Have you seen a doc for these issues? You might want to. BTW, I am not a doctor. -
I stayed in bed all day. I am so tired of always getting more and more issues with my health and there seems to be no end in sight. I know getting diagnosed is good, knowing the name of what is going on is freaking wonderful, but, it never ends. At this point I'd rather my doctors just say your screwed and leave it at that. I try so hard to always be positive...

ARCHIVED Sharing A Kitchen Is Tough
GF Lover replied to Mnicole1981's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi there. I also share a kitchen with my husband who is not a gluten free eater and was always the cook in the house. He is a homemade biscuits and gravy kind of guy. Since he always cooked, I always cleaned up. Now, since I am gluten free, I still do all the clean up for both of us. The fact is, I know he doesn't clean like I think it should be done... -
ARCHIVED Is There A Reason To Get A Diagnosis?
GF Lover replied to Pisqualie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi there, I believe getting a Celiac dx is a personal decision. It was suggested to me by my rheumatologist that I try the diet. It worked and that's all the confirmation we need. Also if you decide to get dxed, you still need to have followup for other health issues you have or might have in the future. Some issues come up as being connected to celiac... -
ARCHIVED Confused About Symptoms!
GF Lover replied to oceania's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi there. I have a thought for you. I also have hypothyroidism. I hope you have started taking your thyroid med again. Anyway, I was also having arm wrist and finger weakness. Partial numbness in some fingers and along the side of my hand. I started dropping dishes. Well, Wednesday I had an EMG test done by my neurologist and wham, carpel tunnel. ... -
I readily agree. Some type of nerve, inflammatory issue. I have spinal stenosis, peri-formis syndrome, sacroilitis and bursitis. I take steroids, get injections, take anti-inflammitories and muscle relaxers. I see a rheumatologist for my issues. Might be a good place to start. Be well.

Hi SandSurfGirl. Thank you for reading my post and seeing that it is very emotional. I am on an "up" and being bipolar means I'm way up. A "take away the credit cards and hide the car keys" kind of up. I have more energy than my body can handle and my brain has way too much going on. I know the down will come around and kick my arse. If I don't land in...

I watched a documentary a few weeks back called "I AM". I highly recommend watching.

I am a chronically empathetic person and my heart goes out to everyone who is struggling. I am also an eternal optimist. When my rheumatologist suggested this diet for me, I immersed my self in research. I have read every Journal Of Gluten Sensitivity, every list of good food, bad food etc. I enlisted the help of a family friend who is a holistic health...

It seems that the publicity for celiac/gluten intolerance has become a two edged sword. It's good for advancing research and awareness but, when the mainstream media get their teeth in it becomes a diet fad, a lifestyle choice and a food companies stock value. I believe only a small amount of the world's population actually realizes that it is a disease...

ARCHIVED Skippy Peanut Butter
GF Lover replied to 123glldd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I about freaked when I saw skippy come up in a topic. Especially after that BBQ fiasco, which really got me going. I'm glad this got corrected quickly cuz I live on Udi's and skippy. Thanks. Be well. -
Had the emg and definitely carpel tunnel. Are you kidding me? Does this medical stuff ever let up. I'm a bit discouraged, but, one more answer is always good. I'm still smiling and it will still be another wonderful day in the life of me.

ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed, Constant Tingling Pain In Left Hand...? Allergies?
GF Lover replied to Annie73's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Annie. I am new here but I have a few thoughts for you. First, congrats on being gluten free. As you have probably read, there are many afflictions that can be attributed to celiac. However, there are also many that are not. Sometimes I think to many people think all their issues will resolve by going gluten free. I believe this is a misconception... -
I have a few tests coming up. A tilt table test, an EEG and EMG. These are to check if my syncope has advanced and the others are to check for neurological issues. For me it's arm weakness and blood flow issues. The more I know, the more I can do about it. I am hopeful for answers.

ARCHIVED Do I Have Celiac Or Gluten Intolerance Or....?
GF Lover replied to soccer-dude's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi there. I feel your pain with fighting depression/anxiety etc. I am bi polar, major depression, ocd, add, anxiety etc. I have also started a gluten free diet at the suggestion of my rheumatologist. I very quickly had relief of my IBS symptoms. I also don't feel the need to be diagnosed. As far as the depression/anxiety disorders, I have not had any... -
Hi GFinDc. Thanks for your reply. Yea, I had a difficult start with my gluten-free diet. 1 week after I started, (I also juice), we left on a three week trip to Florida where my father is retired. I went armed with my juicer, udis bread and lots of fruit. My father, however, likes to eat at his country club or restaurants he likes. I stuck with fresh...

Hi there. I have had hashimotos for around twenty years. Going gluten free has no confirmed connection to the start of thyroid conditions, although many celiac also have thyroid conditions. When there is enough damage done to the thyroid it will then show in a blood test. Also having a nodule does not mean the levels will go up or down. Once damage is...

I have hashimotos witch is underactive thyroid. It is also an autoimmune disease as is celiac. Some research points to a possible link between the two. A simple blood test can find a problem with the thyroid. Your general doc can take care of it.

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia Before Going Gluten Free?
GF Lover replied to Jamie10's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Through the years I have been diagnosed with a wide variety of issues. First, I am bi-polar and have major depression, anxiety disorder, OCD and social phobias to name a few. I had a heavy drinking problem in my late twenties and a mental crash with too many pills that ended in ect treatments during a month In the hospital I have always had digestion issues... -

Thanks for the information. This is only my fourth month being gluten free. I've had a bad experience at three places. Donatos, Perkins and China Wok. I get more leary everyday about trying another restaurant. I am getting better at talking to chefs and I carry my condiments in my purse. So much to learn in a short amount of time. Thanks again for...
