Anyone who's interested in the gene stuff....I started a thread...its in the research forum. Good idea Carla.....it should be interesting. Congratulations "Aunt" Laura! Good news about your diet so far....I hope it stays this way...smoooooth sailing. Donna...good luck today with the removal. I think I might be on too much... -
Hi, This has come up in a recent discussion and its also something that I've been wondering about for quite some time. I had the gene test (Enterolab) last year and my genes are gluten intolerance genes DQ1 and DQ3. I do not have a Celiac gene. Enterolab is the only lab testing for the intolerance genes as well as the Celiac genes. Everyone that...

I quit 2 years after I got bit. I quit right around when my symptoms came on. But then I wasnt so good because of the stress from my break-up....I started smoking again....ALOT. So during the first couple years of my sickness I smoked alot because of stress....then I realized smoking was making me have way worse symptoms and I havent smoked for a couple... -

Oh....forgot to add...I tried to schedule with Dr. Derksen for when she comes in Dec. I may have waited too long....I am on a waiting list but the girl said I will most likely get in but she wont know until late next week because she has to make calls and what not. She still has to put together the schedule so dont know for certain if there will be room left... -

OK...so I told the Bioset lady that my Dr. made me feel like recovery will be extremely difficult and that he just seemed grave and serious about it all...making me feel a little hopeless. She said "No...its not hopeless." She said I will get better...she said that all of the people she treats in my situation get better. They all get better and there... -

Nope...no pumpkin for me. I've reacted to all the pumpkin I've tried. I'm stickin to my 5 safe foods. Bev...if you only got Celiac genes tested then you dont know what other intolerance genes you might carry since only Enterolab tests for those genes. Nope....not all gluten intolerance is Celiac Disease. I dont have Celiac Disease. Celiac is... -

Sounds yummy, I hope you enjoy the food and dont get too too sick. My two favorite deserts are pumpkin pie and cheesecake....thats what I eat around the holidays. I love banana bread too. You're getting all my favorite holiday treats tonight! I'm really worried about Evie too. Good that you have a supportive and understanding hubby... -

Ok...I was wondering about this for a long time. I've never seen anyone on this board or on the other board that has just one gene....even the people who get their entire families tested....they all have 2 genes but not everyone is sick. If you say you've seen it....I will put it to rest. -

I never understood this statement. Based on the results I've seen from Enterolab gene testing...*everyone* has 2 genes...either 2 celiac genes, 2 intolerance genes...or one of each. I have NEVER seen anyone come back without one of these combos. Does this mean the entire population has either celiac or intolerance genes?? I dont get it.....also I... -

Sorry Carla, I'm not sure if this is based on any scientific evidence though....if that makes you feel any better. Alot of what I read on that board was people putting their own experiences together and coming to this type of conclusion. They may have had some studies or some type of research to back it up but I didnt spend alot of time going through... -

Patti....I dont recall ever reading anything about DQ2 and neurological symptoms but then again I dont have that gene so never looked into it much. I read alot about DQ1 and neurological symptoms though. I remeber reading that having 2 DQ1 genes could cause very severe symptoms....worse than Celiac genes. Dont know if its true though....most of what I'd read... -

Oh.....I would also totally trade my ice cream in for Tostitos with nacho cheese or guacamole. This is the type of foods I snacked on before I got sick. It was all about breads, pastas and salty foods.....not so much sugar though. -

Rinne.....I really dont crave sugar at all though. I never had a problem eliminating it. Last year I just stopped eating when I went on my strict candida diet. I never even had a single fruit for 4 months. No sugar at all and it didnt bother me. I craved stuff like mac and cheese but not sugar. I seriously would stare at the box of mac and cheese in the cupboard... -
Kody, If insurance pays for your tests than why not get tested for whatever you can?? That was my thinking. I have gluten intolerance (non-celiac) and I still had many problems. Brainfog was just one of them. I got tested for MS over 3 years ago and it wasnt that. I had all kinds of tests for all kinds of diseases but nothing ever showed up. All my tests...

I posted earlier in this thread about my chemical sensitivities. I now know why I have them. Its because I have Lyme Disease. Finally a Dr. recognized it right away (apparantly alot of people with Lyme have MCS) and got me tested for Lyme Disease. It was positive. My body is highly toxic and unable to detox. The build-up has led to multiple chemical...

Yeah....it will affect everyone but at different doses. Some can tolerate more than others before reacting to it...but at some dose....everyone will react to MSG. MSG=poison. Amy, I have much info. on MSG....lots of links...I'll post them if you'd like. I saw your thread about MSG this morning so I know you've done your homework and have visited... -

I sent my post before I was done. Anyways, I go to this voo-doo lady twice a week now (I just started last week). She is the one who identified all these problems and she is suppossed to be the best in this country for helping people with chemical sensitivity. I will see her today and I think I will specifically ask her about MSG reactions and if it... -

Hi Amy, Yeah...as others have said...you are very brave to go back into this epic thread. I think there was quite alot of pages concentrating on MSG more near the beginning of the thread.....maybe you have found them?? It astonishes me when someone is able to find something in the thread but also it pleases me because that is why its all here to... -

Carla, I'm rooting for you as far as getting an answer. The test my Dr. ordered from Igenix was the Western Blot IgG and Western Blot IgM. The price was reasonable. Now that I've tested positive I have to get the full panel for all infections...its about 3 times what the first test cost. I'm not so "flat" anymore....I'm back to normal size for... -
In most cases people with Lyme are unaware of having been bit....they dont see a tick...they dont see a rash. The ticks that transmit Lyme are very tiny...as small as the period at the end of this sentence. Also they inject a numbing agent when they bite...so as not to be detected...the bite is painless. Depending on where you are bitten you may never...

I stayed home from work today and yesterday. I know I've totally blown my excellent record but in a way I feel kind of entitled to take a couple days to relax after all thats been happening. I think that time of the month is approaching and I'm getting super tired (always happens). Yesterday I was so tired and achey and have so much on my mind I just...
