ARCHIVED Enterolab And Doctors
Rachel--24 replied to tiredandsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ursa, I never said anywhere that gluten intolerance cant be a problem all by itself. I said that sometimes it can be very simple. Sometimes people are intolerant to gluten simply because they are deficient in the enzyme necessary to break it down for proper digestion. Many people in this situation replace the enzyme and then have no difficulties consuming... -

Paula, It might be helpful to read this page before you start with the enzymes. Open Original Shared Link Its all about how to introduce the enzymes, dosages, etc. -
ARCHIVED Enterolab And Doctors
Rachel--24 replied to tiredandsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I dont think this is an appropriate response to my posts. My purpose for posting is not to keep people from eating gluten free. That is a ridiculous statement and obviously you have not clearly understood the message in my posts. I'm sorry for that. There is nothing to back up Enterolab's claims as far as the validity in this type of testing..... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab And Doctors
Rachel--24 replied to tiredandsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some people are diagnosed Celiac based on positive IgG antibodies only.....and these antibodies are not specific to Celiac Disease. In addition.....some people may have elevated tTG as a result of another autoimmune condition. As it stands somewhere around 97% of biopsy proven Celiacs have DQ2 and DQ8. Its only a VERY small percentage of diagnosed Celiacs... -
I'm sorry, but a colonoscopy is not used to diagnose Celiac Disease. Please feel free to ask other board members which tests are used to diagnose Celiac Disease. Perhaps I should have stated upper endoscopy.....because that is how the the GI reaches the small intestine. The colonoscope cannot reach the small intestine. I dont know why your GI performed...

ARCHIVED Enterolab And Doctors

As far as false positives with Enterolab...I have no idea. Noone knows the answer to that question and Dr. Fine (who runs Enterolab) has never published anything for peer review. Gluten intolerance is not something that you outgrow. However, for those of us who do not actually have Celiac....the diet does not necessarily have to be life-long. Its not like... -

Nora, Hypercoagulation can be inherited or aquired....usually it is aquired. When it is inherited, the problems do not usually occur late in life....and it is not nearly as common as hypercoagulation aquired by such things as toxins and chronic infection. -
ARCHIVED Is There A Problem With Gluten
Rachel--24 replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree. I think that its very individual. I dont have as much problems with gluten as I do with fruits and vegetables. Every person is different. -
No....a stool test is not considered to be diagnostic for Celiac. Antibodies can be detected in stool for reasons other than Celiac Disease. The stool tests are only indicative of gluten sensitivity....but not Celiac specifically. So while you *can* have these elevated antibodies due to Celiac Disease.....you can also have them for other reasons...including...

I think having all of the tests done (not just bloodwork) is important. I dont think that 30% of Celiacs will show up negative in all testing (bloodwork, biopsy and genetic testing).....and if they do....then they most likely do not have Celiac. Not having DQ2 and DQ8 reduces the possibility of Celiac Disease significantly. Having negative bloodwork, negative...

This is true....but I still feel that forgoing any testing and jumping right into the diet can complicate matters down the road. If someone does not resolve all of their symptoms (which is all too common around here) then they will have many unanswered questions if they chose to skip all of the testing. They will either have to go back on gluten for several...

ARCHIVED Abnormal Results
Rachel--24 replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is true if you are genetically susceptible to Celiac Disease. If not....then the chances of you having Celiac are on the other end....extremely low (or impossible). The only way to know is to be tested. You *can* be gluten intolerant without having Celiac Disease. A large percentage of those who are intolerant to gluten actually do not have Celiac... -
ARCHIVED Testing - What All Should I Ask For?
Rachel--24 replied to ohsotired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you're asking specifically about tests for diagnosing Celiac.....then it would be all of the ones you listed. None of the other tests are specific for Celiac. Additional testing can be helpful in determining deficiencies or other problems/imbalances...however, they have nothing to do with diagnosing Celiac. In addition to the blodwork listed above... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab And Doctors
Rachel--24 replied to tiredandsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Personally, I dont believe that Celiac should be diagnosed based on Enterolab results since it is not a diagnostic test for the disease. I think most doctors are of that same belief.....so even though there are some who might give a diagnosis...I think those doctors are few and far between. Its not really a matter of trusting Enterolab...but the test itself... -
Jin, Your signature says that you had a negative biopsy in 2001....so I had always assumed that it was done when you had your endoscopy??
-
No....it does not show up in routine bloodwork. There are specific antibody tests for Celiac.....so yes...if you would like to be tested you would need to request the panel. These are the tests....make sure you get all of them. They need to test the Total Serum IgA in order to make certain the tests arent false negative due to IgA deficiency. Anti-Gliadin...

I agree with Birdy. The only way a new bite could cause more problems is if the tick carried another infection....which you are not currently being treated for. -

I had read this same thing....and I was scared when all of my Dr.'s were wanting me to start the MB12 shots. I mentioned that I'd read that increasing methylation can worsen mercury toxicity....however, they were not in agreement. One of my doctor's gave me an explanation....which I posted sometime last year. I've since forgotten exactly what he told... -

Kassandra, Do you think you were bit again? I've heard of bulls eye rashes reappearing during treatment.....you might want to ask this question on LN. I know I've read about it several times. -
Have you requested the Celiac panel? If your own doctor isnt willing to order the tests....then find another doctor who will. You are the patient....the doctor is working for YOU. I dont see why they would deny you testing....especially when they havent found a cause for your "IBS". If you plan on doing any testing make sure that you do NOT start a gluten...

What were the side effects?? Were your shots from a compounding pharmacy......or did they have added ingredients? I've read alot about MB12 shots as an effective treatment for improving the methylation cycle in Autism. The vast majority of these kids have difficulties with the methylation and sulfation pathways. I took MB12 shots for a couple months... -

I had to read it twice to "get it"....but I made it through without my eyes glazing over. I think that hypercoagulation must be playing a role in this. This sentence almost describes hypercoagulation perfectly .... The tissue has very low oxygen levels, poor circulation, narrowing and blocking of capillaries. "Nodules show near complete absence... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Kassandra, I used to feel this same exact way. I HATED having to go through holidays. It especially sucked because I work in a grocery store and all day long I'd have to see everyone buying all the food that I cant eat....and on their way to some party or BBQ. It was the most depressing thing....and sometimes I'd find it hard to hold back tears... -
